Overall Rating
The 2022 Chrysler Voyager will be available as a fleet only model with restricted features and optional packages. It is expected to release towards the end of 2021 with an estimated MSRP of $33,000.
With Chrysler focusing more on the sales-friendly Pacifica Hybrid, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager gets some significant slashing. Yes, for buyers, there will be a 2022 Voyager, but one which will be sold as a fleet-only model with just one trim on tap. The strategic streamlining also means that the upcoming Voyager will see a reduction in its features and specs sheet as well. There’s some alteration in its previously available optional packages as well.
What could be probably in its last few production years, the 2022 Voyager doesn’t get any mechanical or physical changes. Yes, that’s at least something to rejoice for minivans loyalists. Expected to be released later down the end of this year, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager is expected to start at an MSRP of $33,000. Despite a major cut-down, it would continue its battle against the likes of Honda Odyssey, Kia Carnival and Toyota Sienna Hybrid.
Since the 2022 Chrysler Voyager is a fleet-specific model, it will not be available to the general public. If you are someone who processes a fleet license, then you can only choose to go with the standard LX trim. As standard, the van is decently specced and comes with the most comfort-oriented amenities as standard. You could always choose to go up with the equipment list with the optional packages and if we were the one buying, the Safety group will one be the one we’ll opt for.

The 2022 Chrysler Voyager will only be available in a single trim, namely the LX, and shall be sold specifically as a fleet-specific model. This transition also sees a drop of many convenience features that were standard on this trim the preceding year. That also includes the omission of driver assistance tech from the standard list of equipment. That said, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager thankfully retains its familiar powertrain and transmission configuration that was available with the previous model year. There is also a reshuffle in the optional package list where the Safety Group and Premium group are the only available options now.

You can also go in for a safety package that does bring back the driver assistance features while the Premium group package adds a bigger 10.1-inch infotainment screen, in-built navigation, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

The 2022 Chrysler Voyager does not receive any mechanical changes for the 2022 model year. It would cntinue sporting the same 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine that is good for about 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The transmission duties would be taken care of by the trusty 9-speed unit as usual which sends power to thefrontwheels only. The engine on the Voyager, which is also shared with the Pacifica incidentally, is quite a punchy unit. There is enough grunt at the bottom to pick up quite quickly and never has felt underpowered even with the van fully loaded.
The transmission is not the most responsive unit out there, but it gets the job done with its smooth shifting raios. shifting smoothly through the ratios without perceivable jerks. The 2022 Chrysler Voyager can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in just around 7.2 seconds and that’s quite impressive considering its 4300 lbs od unladen weight. The quarter-mile comes up in just 14.9 seconds, as this is one of the quickest figures we’ve got from a van. Moreover, this van also has a rated towing capacity of over 3600 pounds which further raises its appeal as an all-rounder.

Even though the 2022 Chrysler Voyager is the most powerful and lighttweight van here, the Honda Odyssey remains the quickest among the lot here. Thanks to its lightly more zestful engine and quick-shifting short ratios, the Honda Odyssey does the 0-60 task in just 6.8 seconds. That said, once you get into the meat, the Voyager does pull ahead and manages to post better quarter-mile times than the Odyssey. The Kia Carnival comes next with 0-60 times of 7.6 seconds, while the Sienna Hybrid, being the only one with a 4-cylinder engine with less power to play with, places itself at the back of the pack when it comes to performance.
For a 203.8-inch long van, the Voyager comes out to be pretty manageable. Despite a FWD drivetrain, the way it puts down power is well judged. No torque steer or anything funny and the steering feels very light in usage and makes the front end feel pretty sharp at sedate paces. Highways cruising is no big isuue here as the engine revs comfortably at highway speeds with no stress. Although the suspension is on the softer side, the sleek bodywork and hefty underpinning make this behemoth surprisingly stable at speeds even close to the triple-digit marker.
Fuel economy is one place where the 2022 Chrysler Voyager is likely to score high, as in its outgoing model. With a 23 MPG combined fuel economy, the Voyager is easily the most efficient non-Hybrid van you can get your hands on as of now. This along with a 19-gallon gas tank, make it an appealing mile munching machine. At best, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager can extract about 532-miles on a single tank of gas and that is when you stick to the highways. The real-world range does hover around the 440-mile marker, which is an impressive figure for a machine of this class.

The Toyota Sienna, being the only hybrid van here, leaves the competition in the dust when it comes to fuel economy. The lack of performance does start paying off here. Despite having the smallest tank in this segment, the excellent efficiency figures allow the Sienna to extract the best tank ranges as well. The 2022 Chrysler Voyager has the second-best economy figures here while the Kia Carnival follows in closely. To be fair, the Odyssey is the one among the non-hybrids that offer the best compromise of efficiency and tank range.
For a value for money fleet offering, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager would continue sporting a rather good-looking interior. Some of the amenities might remind you of its premium twin, the Pacifica, which is not at all a bad thing. There is a lot of hard plastic used throughout, but the fit and finish is excellent as there are little to no creaks and squeaks when driving it around. Even though it is specified for fleet purposes, the cabin does offer a bunch of standard features and this includes a 7-inch infotainment system, 3-zone climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel, premium cloth upholstery, and a keyless entry feature.
As for the seating, all three rows are perfectly usable for adults. The front seats offer almost 64-inches of shoulder room and 41.1-inches of legroom, both of which are some of the best we have seen. The second-row seats offer around 39-inches of legroom while the third row has almost 36.5-inches of it to spare. You get almost 32.3 cu-ft of cargo space with the third row of seats in use, but you can use the stow ‘n go feature to fold then flat to excavate a maximum area of 87.5 cu-ft. If you still feel limited, the second row of seats folds flat and this makes a huge 140.5 cu-ft void behind the front seats and should fit almost anything.

The 2022 Chrysler Voyager has the best front row seats but surprisingly it is the Carnival that boasts better second-row room and a bigger cargo capacity behind the third row of seats. It is also worth noting that the standard trims of the Sedona and the Sienna seat 8 people while the Voyager and the Odyssey are limited to 7 people. All four vans come almost identical when it comes to seating and cargo capacity with only the Chrysler gaining a slight advantage with its easier third-row access.Â
For infotainment needs, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager would carry forward its standard 7-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment screen. This system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Bluetooth and voice command functionality are also a part of the standard package. You also get a six-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation as standard. However, features like navigation, a 10.1-inch display, and Sirius are only available through additional packages. Some of the other available interior features are listed below:
The 2022 Chrysler Voyager gets its visuals directly ripped off from yesteryear’s Pacifica. The fleet specification has robbed away some of that premium appeal but it still manages not to offend anyone. The sleek front end looks aerodynamic and carefully masks the cost-cut outlook it may bring about. The sleek lines run through the sides and meet a tail end that is deprived of evoking any emotion. Although both ends look mismatched, they amalgamate to form a visually pleasing silhouette. There are no fancy features on the exterior but at least they did keep the 17-inch wheels to maintain the proportions right.
The 2022 Chrysler Voyager does boast around 121.6-inches of wheelbase, which is the longest in its class but somehow manages to pack it all in a 4330-pound frame, which by the way, is the lightest in its class. The Voyager offers an airy cabin and its big exterior dimension helps it excavate a lot of usable room inside. As for the features, you get exterior automatic headlamps, power mirrors with heating elements, a power sliding side door, and a power-operated tailgate. There isn’t much exterior customization available, so you are limited with what you get.

The 2022 Chrysler Voyager is dimensionally the biggest van here except for the overall length. Despite this, it manages to weigh the least in this comparison. The Odyssey is the longest car here but gets the shortest wheelbase in this class. The Sedona and the Sienna have identical wheelbases, but the hefty hybrid powertrain and bigger bodywork make it almost 200 pounds heavier than the competing vans. Some standout exterior features are
While the 2022 Chrysler Voyager awaits its launch and following crash-test ratings, its outgoing models have come out with some rather impressive results. The 2021 Chrysler Voyager was awarded an overall ‘good’ rating by the IIHS while in 2020, it received a 5-star crash safety rating from the NHTSA. These results should speak for themselves when it comes to the structural integrity of the 2022 Chrysler Voyager, but unfortunately, Chrysler has removed all driver assistance features from the LX trim with the introduction of fleet-only models this year. These are only available as packages from now. Some standout safety features are;
Although both the vans here come at similar price tags, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager is the bigger van here and also offers the better-performing engine under the hood. Incidentally, the Voyager is also the frugal van between the two as well. Bigger brakes and lower curb weight makes this Chrysler take a lead in this department as well. That said, the Kia hits back with its efficient space management, enabling it to extract slightly better cabin room capable of carrying 8 and better cargo space. It also stands toe to toe with the Chrysler despite the low economy figures. The Kia might not be the most value-oriented product here but it definitely has a better presence and appeal following its recent overhaul.
The Honda Odyssey is one of the most popular names in the segment and is the go-to pick for most. It might be the smaller package of the two, but it definitely is the comfier and better-loaded van here. The slight bump in price is perfectly justified with its punchier engine, modern transmission, higher built quality, and wide list of available tech. It even gets the best braking performance in the segment. The Honda might not be as good nor as economical as the Chrysler for commercial use, but as an overall package, it definitely stands few steps ahead of the 2022 Chrysler Voyager.
The Toyota Sienna is undoubtedly the most fuel-efficient van in its segment, given it is the only one that comes with a standard hybrid drivetrain. But that comes with its own set of caveats as the engine does lack the power or smoothness that the V6 on the 2022 Chrysler Voyager offers. This complex drivetrain also raises the base price of this Toyota considerably. Coming to space, even though both vans have similar exterior dimensions, the Chrysler Voyager is the one that manages to excavate maximum usable interior space. The Toyota does offer a slightly better ride here though. If you are looking for a family-biased, well-equipped van, the Sienna is the way to go or if the value is the prerequisite, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager would fare better.
Since Chrysler has pulled the plug on regular consumer models of the new Chrysler Voyager, only a limited number of people with fleet licenses would find their way to own one of these. As to this, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager should come out a cost-effective pick given the absence of any new vans in the 30 grand markers. Given it is the most capacious van in its segment, there is literally no compromise when it comes to practicality. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine is the star here, as has earned a reputation for being decently reliable and highly economical. Even though the fleet specification has cost it some advanced safety tech, most of the creature comfort amenities still come standard. Essentially speaking, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager is still a bang-for-the-buck purchase in this segment.
