Overall Rating
The 2022 Genesis GV80 will most likely be launched with prices just under the $50k mark for the 2.5T Base trim and going over $70K for the top-end 3.5T Prestige trim. The same two engines are likely to be made available for the GV80- a 300-hp 2.5L turbo inline-4 and a 375-hp 3.5L twin-turbo V6. These engines have a maximum towing capacity of 6,000 pounds.
The GV80 is Genesis' first SUV when it launched for the 2021 model year with a bold statement. We don't expect any significant changes for 2022 GV80 as the two- or three-row luxury crossover enters its second year on the market. The 2022 Genesis GV80 will most likely be offered10 model configurations with a long lineup of standard features, and a luxurious interior including a 14.5-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, satellite radio, and synthetic leather seating surfaces. The Advanced plus trim level offers an available third row of seating, though these are best suited for kids.
Under the hood, the GV80 has a smooth 300-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder or optional 375-horsepower turbo V6. The GV80 SUV has the longest warranty you'll find in the luxury class. WIth the GV80's head-turning exterior and luxurious cabin, Genesis aims to rival the likes of the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. The prices shall remain more or less the same as the 2021 model, which starts from around $48,900 and go up to $70,950 for the top-end 3.5T Prestige trim.
We would recommend you to opt for the top-of-the-line Prestige trim as it offers a lot of bang for the buck. It gets many advanced as well as luxurious features such as Nappa leather upholstery, and adjustable rear seats with heated and cooled cushions. You also get 22-inch wheels and a fully digital gauge cluster. This makes it an exceptional value-for-money option for the luxury car buyer.

The 2022 Genesis GV80 isn't a perfect midsize luxury SUV, but it's undoubtedly a lot closer than you might expect from an upstart luxury automaker - Edmunds
Though no official price release from Genesis, we expect the 2022 Genesis GV80 to start at a price of just under $50,000. The 2921 GV80 starts at $48,900 MSRP, and with no significant change, the 2022 model will be similarly priced. The base GV80 gets you the standard turbo 4-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive. Adding an optional AWD drivetrain will cost approximately $5,000 extra.
For buyers who want to upgrade to the available turbo V6 with standard AWD, GV80 will cost $60,000. The Advanced+ trim fitted with this powertrain and three-wor of seating will be priced near $70,000. The range-topping Prestige trim starts above $70,000 and is the most luxurious GV80 model.

If you're looking for a fire-breathing sport utility with more of an emphasis on the former than the latter, the GV80 is not your ride -- at least not right now. - Cnet
Like yesteryear, the 2022 GV80's will most likely come standard with an a2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, a 2021 GV80 took 6.2 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. For those wanting more power, upgrade to a more powerful twin-turbo 3.5 L V6 engine which is capable of producing 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque and a 0-60 mph in 6 seconds flat.
Four-cylinder GV80 models will continue to offer the choice between standard RWD or optional AWD, while V6 cars will be available exclusively with AWD. Both the engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The electronic limited-slip differential is available only with the 3.5T Trim levels which further improves the performance.
When properly equipped, the GV80 can tow up to 6000 pounds. This Genesis SUV shares the platform with the midsize G80 sedan but has a stiff suspension. The ride is slightly firm but still comfortable and smooth. Though it's not a sports SUV but the handling is a bit of a surprise. The GV80 handles well and stays planted around the turns, and buyers will enjoy the drive more than some of its rivals.

"It lacks the fuel-saving mild-hybrid systems of some of its rivals". - The Car Connection
With no drivetrain changes for 2022, the GV80 shall continue to offer similar fuel efficiency figures as the 2021 model. The EPA estimated the 2021 GV80 with turbo-four and RWD to deliver 21 MPG in the city, and 25 MPG on the highway. The fuel capacity is below average for the class at 21.1 gallons, but the GV80 makes up for it with above-average efficiency ratings. If the hybrid model is introduced for the 2022 model year, things can improve further in terms of efficiency but nothing has been announced officially by the Korean carmaker.
"The cabin is chic and premium. Everything seems elegant". - MotorTrend
The GV80's interiors will be carried over from last year’s model with minimal changes. Currently, the GV80 comes with a unique interior design that feels every bit as luxurious as its German competitors. The NVH levels are well contained with plenty of insulation provided around the cabin and acoustic-laminated windshield and side windows. There are plenty of design elements spread out everywhere with burled-wood trim, metal accents, and integrated ambient lighting improving the overall ambiance inside the cabin.
The current GV80 has been offered in both five- and seven-seater configurations. A new spy shot confirms that the 2022 GV80 will be offered with a more luxurious six-seater layout in a 2+2+2 configuration. Moreover, the spy shot highlighted this second seating row with a full center console housing an armrest, cupholders, storage space, and the Genesis integrated controller. There are dual touchscreens also equipped for the individuals seated in this second row.
The seats can be folded flat in a 40/20/40 split configuration for increased cargo capacity. The GV80 can be bought with optional third-row seats which increase total passenger capacity to seven. The third row comes with 50/50 split power-folding functionality, but space is limited and it is best reserved for kids.
The GV80 will still include the capable 14.5-inch infotainment system that is slick and easy to use. Standard features include a 12-speaker audio system, Apple Carplay, and Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, and the usual connectivity features. Genesis also throws in 3 years of Genesis-connected services for all models. The 3.5T trims get a wireless charger and power outlets for 2nd-row passengers for added convenience. The Advanced and higher option packages include a 21-speaker Lexicon Quantumlogic surround sound system that offers exceptional audio quality, even better than some of its rivals.

Distinctive elements include a classy diamond-mesh grille, twin headlight and taillight slats on each side, and an elongated rearmost window and D-pillar. - Kelley Blue Book.
The Genesis GV80 is one of the rare SUVs that look a lot more expensive than it actually is, with handsome styling that stands out from the crowd. The 2022 GV80 is expected to have a new exterior package. From the huge and bold grille to the elegant design, with a prominent body line running from the front to the back, merging perfectly with the bodyline and wheel arches. The GV80 comes with Full LED automatic headlights with auto high beam assist, LED daytime running lights, and LED taillights as standard.
The rear is typical Genesis with large LED taillights that stretch around the corners and the bold genesis logo in the middle. Dual exhausts with chrome tips further enhance the look. The usual Genesis styling elements like the huge crest-shaped grille at the front, quad-LED headlights that are separated and the sloping roofline makes the GV80 stand out from the crowd and look distinctively like a Genesis.

The GV80 can be bought in 8 different exterior colors, including unique options like Cardiff Green and Lima Red. The 2022 model year will be getting the same look but might receive some minor cosmetic changes. It currently comes with Full LED automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED taillights as standard improving the overall front look of the SUV.
Unlike many European luxury SUV competitors, the 2021 Genesis GV80 makes nearly all of safety technologies a standard fare. - J.D. Power
The Genesis GV80 is one of the safest new vehicles you can buy. The 2022 GV80 is mechanically unchanged and shares its platform with the G80 sedan. The 2021 GV80 earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus award, and the same should be replicated for the 2022 model. The NHTSA hasn’t tested the GV80 yet but stablemates like the G70, G80, and G90 all received the highest safety ratings of five stars.
The GV80 SUV comes with a lot of safety features as standards including 10 airbags which include a front-center airbag, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist control, electronic parking brake with automatic vehicle hold, Parking assist features like a rearview camera with guidelines and parking distance warning and more. The 2022 GV80 will also come with a lot of active safety features as standard like:
The Mercedes-Benz GLE Class has also received a thorough update recently. Thus the 2022 model year would not be a major update over its predecessor. It shall still remain a crossover that offers one of the best interiors in its class along with oodles of features. In comparison to the GV80, the GLE Class offers a more luxurious cabin along with a more extensive features list. The MPG figures of the GV80 are slightly better than the GLE 350. However, the price difference justifies the GV80’s cabin as well as its features. the GV80 also offers better performance for a lesser price.
The Audi Q7 is another German titan in the path of GV80’s success. It is also the biggest SUV here and thus offers the most legroom on the inside. The Q7 has also received a major update in the past two years and is thus going to get only some minor updates. However, this Audi feels quite modern as well as high-tech when we talk about features. It still costs more than the GV80 which offers better performance than the Audi Q7. Thus, making it quite a lucrative offer in comparison to the Germans.
The GV80 has only been in the market for a year, and for 2022, only slight changes are expected. For an SUV starting under $50,000, the GV80 will continue to offer exceptional value for money in a practical, affordable yet luxurious package. The 2022 GV80 should cost along the same lines as last year’s model. Thus, we would not suggest waiting for a newer model if you plan on getting your hand on one. Customers looking for a smaller and sportier version of the GV80 can opt for the all-new GV70 which also offers a lot of similar options and shares the same drivetrain with the GV80.
