The 2022 Infiniti QX55 has finally joined the line-up as an all-new model as it shares a lot of pros and cons with its cheaper sibling, Infiniti QX50. This is because the QX55 shares the platform with the QX50 along with the interior, powertrain, and suspension. Available in three different trims, the QX55 is priced at about $46,500 for the base trim. In terms of design, it is inspired by the carmaker’s FX model, that was launched back in 2002. It is powered by the 268-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that also does its duty in the smaller Infiniti QX50.
However, in order to differentiate clearly between the two models, Infiniti offers all-wheel drive as standard with the newer model. It also gets more features and even the base trim is quite loaded with the availability of many optional packages, starting from $800. Some of the advanced standard features include Adaptive Front Lighting System, Wireless Apple CarPlay, In-built Navigation, and Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. New to the segment, this crossover will compete with the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC 300, and even the Volvo XC60.
The Essential trim of the Infiniti QX55 strikes the best balance between features and price. Priced at $51,600, it adds many useful features such as Heated steering wheel Navigation with lane guidance and Traffic sign recognition. What also makes it a value-for-money package is the fact that there is no other engine available in the line-up. Thus, it offers similar performance in comparison to top-of-the-line trim.
