Overall Rating
Jaguar has always been into making luxury and high-performance vehicles, while its Land Rover division requires no introduction.
Jaguar has always been into making luxury and high-performance vehicles, while its Land Rover division requires no introduction. After making some impressive vehicles for a long time, Jaguar decided to explore the SUV market and brought along the F-Pace back in 2016. The SUV being Jaguar’s first effort in the SUV world, the brand tried to take on the sportier SUVs like the X3 or Macan, but it failed to impress the enthusiasts and provide them what they were looking for.
The F-Pace offers exceptional value for money right from the base trim and the turbocharged four-cylinder-powered P250 S offers the best balance of performance and value.

Prices for the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace are expected to start from $51,000 for the base P250 trim and can go up to $67,000 for the P400 trim, which is quite a monumental increase in comparison to last year's model. For the price though, you get a pretty decently equipped car with features like Premium LED headlights with signature DRL and LED Taillights, Two-zone Climate Control with PM 2.5 air filtration, 19-inch Aluminum Alloy Wheels with All-Season tires, SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and WiFi integration, 11.4-inch Pivi Touchscreen infotainment with Meridian Sound System and 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats with Luxtec upholstery. Honestly, the list is quite endless and we can’t mention each and every feature here.

Which Trim should you buy?
The F-Pace offers exceptional value for money right from the base trim and the turbocharged four-cylinder-powered P250 S offers the best balance of performance and value.
The 2022 Jaguar F-Pace carries a higher price tag than its competition, but it is a whole lot more of a car as well. The F-Pace in its base P250 guise has a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 motor under the hood which is good enough for developing 246 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. These figures are not really enthusiastic as they are pretty much the least in the segment and every other competition car provides that little bit more in terms of power when compared. The motor though has a very linear power delivery and while the numbers might feel to be a bit less, it still can make the F-Pace a fun and rather an effortless car to drive.
For those who are more into performance and want a lot more power, then the F-Pace is also available with a much more powerful turbocharged-and-supercharged 3.0-liter inline-six that makes either 335- or 395-hp. No matter what engine you pick, the transmission is always going to be an 8-speed torque converter automatic unit that sends power to all four wheels. The gearbox is quite good at unshifts and is rather refined, but quick downshifts are really not its thing and it gets often confused and caught up when you need it to get down on the gears quickly to make an overtake. The base 2.0L turbocharged unit is good enough to get the car from a standstill to 60mph in just under 7 seconds which is again not very exciting but gets the job done in most of the scenarios.

The F-Pace is quite a hefty SUV and has some amount of body roll. This is no Porsche Macan so you genuinely can’t expect it to make those quick sharp turns but still, the F-Pace is able to hold its line quite well over a fast sweeping corner. Regardless of the model, every F-Pace's steering setup is quick and delivers confidence-inspiring feedback from the front tires to the driver's hands. Driven quickly, the F-Paces sharp responses are genuinely impressive and make this Jaguar crossover truly fun to drive. The F-Pace has 13.8-inch discs up front while at the back there are 12.8-inch rotors. Further, this hardware is supplemented by software wizardries like ABS and EBD to make sure that under those emergency braking scenarios, the car does stop in a safe and controlled manner.
The Audi Q5 is the sportiest one and the most powerful one of the lot and comes with the famed Quattro system as standard. It is also the quickest one here and takes mere 5.7 seconds to complete the 0-60mph sprint. The BMW X3 takes second place after the Q5 and has better driving dynamics than the F-Pace. The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is also as quicks as the BMW X3 and comes with a unique 9-speed automatic transmission.
Over the years, Jaguar has wired thoroughly to make their engines a lot more refined and fuel-efficient. The EPA ratings of the F-Pace's inline-four engine are as high as 22 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, a significant improvement over the present supercharged V-6. Moreover, the SUV comes with a huge 21.7-gallon gas tank that results in some impressive driving range figures such as 477 miles of city driving range, 585 miles of highway driving range, and 520 miles of combined driving range respectively.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class has a slightly lower city and slightly higher highway mileage than the F-Pace and it is impressive since it is quite quicker than the latter as well. The disappointing factor is its smaller 17.4-gallon gas tank that fails to impress with the driving ranges, unlike the F-Pace. Both the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3 have near-identical mpg ratings but it is the Q5 that lunges forward with its bigger gas tank than the X3 and expectedly more driving range numbers of 462 miles.
With the 2021 upgrade, the Jaguar F-Pace’s interiors are what they should always have been right from the start. One thing that never fails to impress about the SUV’s interior is the minimalistic approach to the design as there are not a lot of design elements inside the cabin as well and that gives it a rather clean and vanilla look, which actually does wonders to the cabin.
The seating position is a bit heightened for both the first and second row and that is actually good, considering it’s a high riding SUV and that is what most of the buyers will want. At the front are sports seats and they hug you quite nicely and don’t allow you to get tossed around a lot. The legroom and headroom are pretty decent and even the people with the biggest built won’t feel cramped in either row. At the rear, the car is wide enough to seat three abreast and a lower central hump means that there is enough space for the third occupant to keep their feet.

Jaguar has also updated the infotainment system of the F-Pace recently and while it is miles ahead of what it used to be, there is still a long way to go. What we can see there is the new two display layout which the folks at JLR proudly call the Pivi touchscreen infotainment system which consists of two touchscreen displays, one for infotainment purposes and another one for all the settings of the car. This system is a pretty good one with very well laid graphics and icons and though there is some occasional lag that one can notice, it is still among the best ones in recent times.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class has an elegant and rich cabin here that draws inspiration from the more luxurious GLS-Class. The Audi Q5 gets the sportiest cabin here with a driver-centric dashboard design and excellent ergonomics. The BMW X3 gets the most simple and minimalistic interior design here, much like the F-Pace and it always appeals to those looking for something less dramatic, but comfortable.
Standout interior features:
Just like the interiors, there have been quite a lot of upgrades to the exterior of the F-Pace as well back when it got a facelift for 2021 MY, to make it look more edgy and sporty. There are all-new LED headlamps and taillamps which look a lot better and sleeker now and that enhance the overall appeal of the car even more.
Further, some elements seem to have been shared with its sports car sibling, the F-Type and that also give the F-Pace a very athletic look. The car does look bulky when seen from certain angles yet it can mask its heft quite adeptly.

Standing side-by-side with the stout F-Pace, the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class blends elegance and aggressiveness in a near-perfect manner but is smaller than the F-Pace in terms of exterior dimensions. Also, it has a lower ground clearance too as compared to the F-Pace. The Audi Q5 carries the best exterior design, especially that big and appealing front grille adorned by a brilliant pair of LED headlamp units. BMW slapped its new kidney grille design on the X3 only to make its design polarizing than before. Apart from that, it gets just the right dimensions for an SUV of the segment and the front fascia looks sportier with several hints of aggressiveness than before despite the awkward grille design.
Standout exterior features:
The Jaguar F-Pace has never been crash-tested by any of the testing agencies so we really can’t comment on how the car will perform under crash scenarios. But it is safe to say that the F-Pace comes with a host of active and passive safety techs to keep you and the occupants inside safe in an unforeseen situation of a crash. Some of the standard advanced safety techs include Frontal collision mitigation, Front and rear parking sensors, Lane-keeping assist, and Driver attention monitor among other features.
Standout safety features:
The GLC has just been updated just like the new F-Pace for the year 2021 and does come with a lot of subtle updates. While the interiors of Mercedes are quite better than that in the F-Pace, the Jaguar does look better and considerably bigger when looked at the outside. Also while the Mercedes might be more luxurious, it has the Jaguar which has a better overall feeling inside the cabin with more space as well. The Jaguar is though a couple of grand extras over the GLC but if you ask us, that premium is justifiable as the F-Pace feels like a better car than the GLC in a lot of areas.
The BMW X3 is maybe the only car here that is as good as the F-Pace to drive, if not better. And while the X3 feels like a big car standalone, when compared against the Jaguar, it does look considerably smaller. Also, the X3 is now a few years older model when compared to the F-Pace and that makes it look a bit outdated as well. So when it comes down to X3 vs F-Pace, it is certainly the F-Pace that offers more for the money.
The Audi Q5 is due for a major upgrade in the coming year and that means it is going to get even more desirable than it is right now. And even in the current guise, it is pretty much the most powerful and fastest car here. It is quite fuel-efficient as well, at least more than the F-Pace, and has the second-best driving range after the F-Pace. Also, the Q5’s cabin looks quite a lot more technologically advanced than the F-Pace and has overall better fit and finish levels. Therefore we will definitely pick the Q5 over F-Pace and save those couple of grand as well.
The Jaguar F-Pace has always been a very aspirational SUV for enthusiasts and it justifies its higher than average price tag with a head-turning design and immense road presence. Performance-wise, its base trim might not entice the petrolheads out there but its new inline-6 powered models do offer some impressive performance figures along with commendable mpg figures as well. Overall, if you’re in the segment looking for something other than the German offerings, the F-Pace is just the right choice.
