New features are minimal following last year’s refresh.- The Car Connection
The 2022 Lexus RX 350 carries the same two trims from last year the standard, and the F Sport, and also adds a new limited-production Black Line Edition for 2500 units only. Released in Fall 2021, the price starts from $45,320 for the base model with FWD and goes up to $50,850 for the Black Line Edition with AWD. If you fancy the hybrid RX 450h the MSRP starts from $48,020 onwards.
While the standard trim is quite feature-packed, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport gets the better features of the moniker like the bigger wheels, ambient interior lighting, and upgraded suspensions. Priced at $49,450, the Black Line Edition is mostly an aesthetic upgrade where you get gloss black accents both on the interior and exterior whilst unlocking 3 new exterior colors.

What the RX does best is ride comfortably; it irons out rough stretches of road and delivers a compliant ride.- Car And Driver
Under the hood, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 does not bring any changes. You get the same old trusty 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 engine that can churn out 295 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. The engine comes hooked up to an 8-speed automatic transmission that can put the power to the wheels via the RWD as standard. For the AWD, be prepared to shell out $1,400 extra.
The 2022 Lexus RX 350 is made to be a calm and subtle driver and the powertrain and transmission setup certainly do justice to that idea. Whether you are on the highway or zipping through the daily traffic, the RX 350 never feels like it is being pushed to the limit. If you want an even more refined flow of power, then the hybrid sibling, the 2022 RX 450h is the one you should look at.
The 2022 Lexus RX 350 is not made for performance, and its acceleration time certainly reflects the same. Put the pedal to the metal and the ride can sprint from 0-60 mph in 7.7 seconds. The quarter-mile takes a relaxed 15.5 seconds showing that it's in no hurry to get anywhere. Though you get the upgraded suspensions with the RX 350 F Sport, there is no improvement in the acceleration times.

Amongst the competitors, the BMW X5 is clearly the winner in all respects, however, it also costs the most. The Mercedes Benz GLE Class is priced similarly to the Bimmer but is the least powerful ride in the lineup. The Lexus RX 350 is the second most powerful ride at the lowest price but falls short in the acceleration run. The Acura MDX is the closest competitor for Lexus in all regards.
The front-wheel-drive RX350 does little to distinguish itself in a competitive class.- Edmunds
The 2022 Lexus RX 350 is certainly a looker, however, its MPG figures might feel slightly short-handed since there are no changes under the hood. You can 20 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway which leads to 23 MPG combined. This comes hooked up to a fuel tank capacity of 19.2 gallons which means you get a total overall combined range of 442 miles at full capacity.
That being said, if you want more fuel frugality for the money you are spending, the 2022 Lexus RX 450h might be more up your alley. The hybrid sibling offers 31 MPG in the city, 28 MPG on the highway, and 30 MPG combined which are quite impressive figures for the ride. While it is equivalently priced as the RX 350 F Sport, the fuel tank capacity drops to 17.2 gallons with the RX 450h.

Compared to the rest, the Lexus RX 350 comes out as the best performer when it comes to standalone MPG figures. That being said, the BMW X5 is not far behind with the best city MPG figures and a bigger fuel tank capacity. The Mercedes Benz GLE Class and the Acura MDX share their MPG figures, however, the Acura offers the smallest fuel tank while the GLE Class offers the biggest one.

Comfort seems to be its top priority, and at that it's quite successful.- MotorTrend
The interior of the 2022 Lexus RX 350 remains unchanged this year. However, that is not necessarily a bad thing since the ride offers one of the best quality materials in the chain for the price it demands. You get a choice between aluminum, wood, or leather panels depending on the trim levels. Special for this year, the RX 350 Black Line Edition offers an all-black interior that looks stand out with the new exterior colors.Â
The front seats get power-adjustability as standard and pick up heating and ventilation capabilities as you move up the trim levels. There is ample space in both rows for even the tall guys to be seated comfortably. The optional third-row seats might feel cramped for the adults, but kids will be seated just fine. Along with that, you also get 16 cu-ft of cargo space which is ample enough for a trip over the weekend with the family.

Compared to the rest, the GLE Class offers the best space in both rows. The Acura MDX is the only competitor that comes with three rows of seating as standard, and yet offers ample space in all rows. The BMW X5 offers adequate space as well but falls slightly behind the RX 350 which offers the best space in the front. In terms of in-car entertainment, you get an 8-inch LCD infotainment screen with the Lexus touchpad as standard.Â
This can be upgraded to a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is hooked up to a decent performing 15-speaker Mark Levinson sound system. In terms of connectivity, you also get all of the latest techs like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, and WiFi as standard fitment as well. Some of the notable interior and infotainment features of the 2022 Lexus RX 350 are:
Most onlookers will agree that Lexus has at least done a good job.- KBB
The signature spindle grille stays intact with the 2022 Lexus RX 350 and is supported by the LED headlamps with inverted L DRLs as standard across all trims. Upgrade to the RX 350 F Sport or the new Black Line Edition models, and you will get blacked-out accents all across the exterior. With the Black Line Edition, you also unlock 3 new colors that are called Caviar, Cloudburst Grey, and Grecian Water, all of which look spectacular on their own.
On the side, the standard 18-inch alloy wheels sit in full glory in the lower trims which grant the ride an overall ground clearance of 8.2 inches. In the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport and the Black Line Edition, these are bumped up to bigger 20-inch alloy wheels that look even sportier and menacing. At the back, you get LED taillamps, however, the design language does not do justice to the stylish front.

The Lexus RX 350 is the most compactly built, and that is one of the reasons that the third-row seating is optional. The BMW X5 is built like a giant and certainly looks the part with its bigger dimensions and the highest curb weight of the lot. The Acura MDX is the longest and yet manages to keep the weight low, while the GLE Class gets the longest wheelbase which helps in creating more space in the interior and adding more stability.

The Lexus RX comes standard with plenty of safety features to help it avoid and mitigate a crash.- The Car Connection
Lexus may not be at par with BMW when it comes to driver tech and safety, however, they are not too far behind either. The 2022 Lexus RX 350 remains unchanged physically and hence the ratings from 2021 MY can suffice. The 2021 RX 350 procured a 4-star safety rating from NHTSA while the IIHS has granted it an overall "Good" rating.
Additionally, the 2021 Lexus RX 350 was an IIHS Top Safety Pick which just goes on to show how sturdy it really is. Ranging from active driver safety aids to passive safety features, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 gets a lot of safety features as a standard. This year, fog lamps have also been added as standard. Some of the notable safety features are:

The 2022 Acura MDX kicks off a new generation for the moniker and makes the competition even more cutthroat for the 2022 Lexus RX 350. Despite sitting in the same price bracket, the 2022 MDX offers better performance, 3 rows of seating as standard, and a fresher new look due to the new generation. Furthermore, it matches the Lexus RX 350 dimensionally and yet takes it one step forward with a slightly bigger wheelbase. Out of the two, the Acura MDX takes precedence.
The 2022 Mercedes Benz GLE Class is the most luxurious ride in this lineup. It comes with one of the biggest cargo spaces in the lineup, great MPG figures and the biggest fuel tank, and the world-renowned MBUX infotainment system as standard fitment. Compared to the Lexus RX 350, it offers a smaller engine with lesser power, higher price, but more interior space in the second row. Overall, the RX350 should be the pick if all-out luxury is not what you are after.
The 2022 BMW X5 retains its character of being the silent performer here as well. It has the most power, comparable MPG figures as the Lexus RX 350, and the best safety and driver tech in the segment. While it costs more, it offers a lot more interior space and the biggest cargo bay along with the simplistic luxurious vibe that it is known for. That being said, the Bimmer is the priciest ride in this lineup and certainly offers a lot more car in that price. So, the BMW X5 is the one to pick.
The 2022 Lexus RX 350 is a feature-packed, comfortable, and worthwhile ride with a pocket-friendly price tag. However, the minimalistic changes you get from last year form an Achilles' heel in the highly competitive segment. Hence, we would recommend you to either get a 2021 Lexus RX 350 or choose one of the competitors.
