Overall Rating
The Lincoln Navigator will receive a much-needed mid-cycle refresh for 2022 which will include a minutely overhauled exterior and interior with plenty of noteworthy changes especially in terms of tech and features. With prices estimated to start from an MSRP of $76,000, expect no changes in the powertrain department led by a 3.5L V6, but a hybrid variant could be in the pipeline. The release date is set for the Summer of 2021.
The 2022 Lincoln Navigator has arrived with a slew of updates and massive cosmetic changes across the board. The 2022 Navigator marks the debut of Lincoln's semi-autonomous driving mode called Active Glide which allows for hands-free driving like Cadillac's Super Cruise. On the inside, the Navigator now gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen unit with SYNC 4 and gets updates to the massaging seats as well. One of the more unique features of the 2022 Lincoln Navigator is the presence of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan-like front-facing camera that will recognize bumps on the road and tune suspension accordingly. Prices for the 2022 Navigator starts from $76,710.
The 2022 Navigator remains mechanically unchanged from last year and it still derives its power from a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels as standard, with AWD available as an option. The towing capacity of the Lincoln is rated at 8,700 lb and the trailer package now gets reverse guidance when equipped with Pro-Trailer Backup Assist.
The Reserve trim of the 2022 Lincoln Navigator strikes the right bargain for the price. It gets the bigger 22-inch wheels and more luxury and creature comfort features like the heated and ventilated seats in the interior. When compared to rivals like the Cadillac Escalade or BMW X7, a similarly specced out build goes well over 85 grand!

The big Lincoln has near endless space for people and cargo, a great engine, excellent tech, and solid design.- Motor Trend
The 2022 Lincoln Navigator is available for sale in three trim levels. These trims are- Standard, Reserve, and the special edition Black Label. The prices begin from $76,185 for the Standard trim, and go up to $98,125 for the Black Label. That being said, Lincoln has introduced 4 new colors namely, Iced Mocha, Silver Jade, Blue Diamond, and Rhapsody Blue that replace 4 old colors.
There is also a new optional Monochromatic appearance package, that adds the darker elements on the exterior by replacing the chrome ones. All of the trims are powered by the same 3.5L turbocharged V6 engine with RWD as standard, and AWD available as optional in the Standard and Reserve trims. The Black Label trim is AWD only and adds the Technology Package and Lincoln Connect as standard to the feature list.

You won’t miss a V-8 in the Lincoln Navigator.- The Car Connection
Under the hood of the 2022 Lincoln Navigator, the powertrain unit is going to remain largely unchanged since this is going to be a mid-cycle refresh and not a new platform overall. Though speculations suggest that a new hybrid variant with underpinnings from the new F-150 might be in the works but that won’t be here any time soon.
We expect the 2022 Navigator to be powered by the same 3.5-L V6 engine that’s found in the outgoing version. The same engine was also used in the 2021 model and makes 450 bhp and 510 lb-ft of peak torque. This engine is expected to get the same 10-speed AT gearbox which has been the top-of-the-lot in terms of outright performance in this segment. This being said, we do believe that with the 2022 update, the overall characteristics of this engine will surely be improved to offer better performance, making this vehicle a great choice to be driven in all conditions.

The standard RWD option in the 2021 Lincoln Navigator puts the power to tow a maximum capacity of 8,700 lbs which should carry forward to the 2022 model. The rivals in the market strongly try to compete with the Lincoln Navigator in the engine department and even with the updated powertrain setup of the 2021 Cadillac Escalade, it's still no match for the Navigator’s well-rounded V6.
The 2022 Lincoln Navigator is expected to deliver similar fuel efficiency figures as the outgoing model which is acceptable since it belongs to a segment where fuel economy is probably the last on the priority list. The 2022 Navigator is expected to get a fuel economy of 16 MPG for city usage while the highway economy figures should stand at 21 MPG. The SUV will most likely make do with the same 23.2-gallon fuel tank which gives it a decent range on a tank full.

The fuel economy figures of the BMW X7 are exceptional in our list of competitors. Surprisingly, the current-gen Navigator isn’t far behind. The fuel efficiency of the Escalade is sub-par despite the lower performance figures but the diesel version of the Caddie does take the cake.
The Navigator has an elegant cabin adorned with high-quality materials. It's quiet and spacious, and it's one of the finest interiors in the class.- Cars.USNews
The 2022 Lincoln Navigator is expected to receive a significant overhaul in the interior department. The outgoing Navigator suffered in the interior department as it was far too bland and simple when compared to its rivals which is why we think the primary focus for this update will be the interior. The overall interior quality was right up there, but we expect new interior color options and updated materials for an improved in-cabin experience.
After the launch of the new Cadillac Escalade, the consumer base was mesmerized with the huge cured display setup that took up a large chunk of the dashboard and we expect a similar approach by Lincoln. Along with the infotainment, we expect a new, next-gen driver display setup that should be more informative and in tune to support an improved cruise control and lane assist system.

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator will be receiving a thorough update in the tech department as the outgoing version just lacks the oomph which is expected from this segment. It's safe to expect an all-new driver's display and infotainment setup which will run on an updated version of Ford’s latest Sync system for a smooth and uninterrupted experience.
Some of the standard interior features on offer are-
The Navigator’s a sleek and attractive SUV from the outside and embraces its size, no apologies, and it wins.- The Car Connection
The 2022 Lincoln Navigator gets massive changes on the outside and now gets headlamps that look slimmer and wrap around more, which should give the 2022 Navigator a wider appearance. Also very prominent is the larger grill which now dominates the front facia and to accommodate it will be a completely redesigned front bumper to complete the updated look upfront.
The rear will also receive noteworthy changes, which will include a wrap-around larger-than-life tail lamp which will be all LED and slimmer than the outgoing version to give an illusion of added width to the SUV. The bumpers too will be redesigned from the ground up to match the front end design.

When compared to the competition, the 2021 Lincoln Navigator was the heaviest of the lot, and the 2022 iteration is all set to follow suit. Moreover, dimension-wise too, the Navigator has the highest ground clearance which allows it to wade through potholes and large bumps with relative ease delivering the utmost comfort.
Some of the exterior features on offer are-
Lincoln is the luxury lineup of Ford and evidently so, just like its parent company, Lincoln also has an impressive safety suit to offer with its lineup, especially with the 2022 Navigator. Sharing a platform with the Ford Expedition, the Navigator also has a body-on-frame style. Coming to the current 2021 MY iteration, the NHTSA awarded it a 5-star rating for its crashworthiness. Moreover, similar to the one in the 2021 MY, the 2022 Navigator will also carry forward the latest updated Lincoln CO-Pilot 360 safety system, but with even more standard safety features.
Some of the standard safety features are-
The 2022 Lincoln Navigator is a minor overhaul and a step to ensure Lincoln’s survival in a market dominated by newer competitors. The redesign will give a new lease of life to this otherwise extraordinary and larger-than-life full-size SUV but it will also act as a testbed for new tech which will trickle down to the rest of the Lincoln and Ford lineup, setting a course for the American automaker’s future. Having said that, with the bigger and better infotainment screen with Ford's latest Sync 3 interface and many more features on point, the 2022 Navigator with a price tag of nearly $76,000, is definitely worth the money.
