The 2022 Mini Cooper Convertible in the Signature trim would be the best option as it comes with a greater set of features over the base trim. The price for this trim might seem a bit high compared to what other manufacturers offer for the price. Also, you could even get the base trim of the more powerful Cooper S Convertible if you spend just a little more. However, the SIgnature is still the best choice in the Mini Convertible lineup.

The 2022 Mini Cooper Convertible is powered by a 1.5-liter TwinPower turbocharged 3-cylinder engine producing 134 hp and 162 lb-ft of maximum power and torque. The base trim comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while a 7-speed DCT is optional. The higher-end trims get the automatic as standard while the manual is a no-cost option. The performance from this base engine of the Mini lineup is satisfactory but still leaves us wanting more punch. 

The car takes around 7.5 seconds to achieve a speed of 60mph and the quarter-mile mark is crossed in 16.0 seconds. These figures are not the most exciting ones in the segment but it is not with its straight-line speed that the Mini amazes but with its slick handling and engaging driving dynamics. The Mini Convertible has a lower curb weight compared to the other so-called 4-seater roadster in the segment and that enables it to deliver go-cart-like handling and the ability to change directions with extreme ease. 

The 2022 Mini Convertible seems like a pricey, underpowered machine among the competitors that are much more powerful and some significantly less expensive. The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a two-seater unlike others including the Mini, but the fact that the second row of the competitors is not of much use for adults makes it an impressive contender for the lower price it is offered at. The 2022 Chevy Camaro is the fastest machine here while the Ford Mustang outputs the higher power outputs. Overall, the Camaro offers the best straight-line performance while the Miata is the most enjoyable machine to drive around. 

The 2022 Mini Convertible is an impressive fuel-efficient car and the smaller engine and lower power outputs enable it to squeeze out maximum efficiency. The cabin features a redesigned steering wheel, air vents, and a new checkered upholstery option. The 8.8-inch infotainment unit that has been made standard across all trim looks nice and makes the dashboard look updated. Interior upholstery options range from leatherette and cloth to premium Chesterfield leather while you could also opt for the most premium MINI Yours Leather Lounge Carbon Black option for an added cost.

The front seats are extremely comfortable although opting for the larger wheels would wat into the ride quality of the Mini. The rear seats are not the most comfortable ones in the segment and there is a clear lack of space in the second row and which means adults wouldn’t be comfortably accommodated there. However, you could seat children in the second row or use that space for yu delicate luggage as the cargo area offered in the Mini Convertible is not at all spacious enough. 

The 2022 Mini Cooper has the best quality interior while the Camaro and Mustang are the more spacious options. The Miata being a two-seater offers better room for the driver and front passenger. The Mustang offers the most cargo capacity while the Miata offers the least. The rear seats of all three cars here are essentially useless and that makes the Miata a competitive contender, but the Mazda and the Mini seriously lack cargo space which is an issue. Overall if you don’t want the extra row of seating to put in luggage, the Mazda is the obvious better choice among these cars. 

2022 Mini Cooper Convertible Signature vs 2022 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Convertible

The 2022 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Convertible has a capable engine under the hood producing far more power and torque than the Mini. The interior of the Mustang is of premium quality and offers superior space and cargo capacity compared to the Mini. The Mini, however, offers a higher quality interior and better handling compared to the Mustang. However, the Mustang is still the better option compared to the Mini.

The 2022 Chevy Camaro 1LT Convertible is the base model in the Camaro lineup and it comes with fewer features compared to the similarly priced mid-level trim of the Mini Cooper Convertible. The Camaro however, is more powerful and actually is the fastest machine offered at this price point. Overall it has to be a subjective choice between performance and luxury. The Mini offers better features and more luxury while the Camaro is faster and offers better performance.

The Mini Cooper Convertible offers a peppy three-cylinder engine under the hood along with two impressive transmission options.
