Overall Rating
Porsche Cayenne is a well-known name in the market that offered something unique which no other competitor could, especially in its class.
Porsche Cayenne is a well-known name in the market that offered something unique which no other competitor could, especially in its class. An SUV with top-tier quality, excellent level of comfort combined with sporty nature which easily confuses some to check twice whether they see an SUV or a sports car. However, to make things further interesting, Porsche launched the Cayenne Coupe with a sloped roofline which can go against the divisive Coupe style SUVs such as BMW X6, Audi Q8, and Mercedes AMG GLC 63 Coupe. An SUV with a competent engine usually leans away from having extreme agility.
According to us, people who just crave raw power should go for the S trim with closed eyes. However, for daily usage, we would recommend the base trim. Yes, we know the engine is not as powerful as the twin-turbo V6 from ‘S’, but it offers pretty good driving control which should satisfy a large variety of buyers. All-wheel drive is standard, so do not worry about spending extra on getting that. Various interior and exterior features come with a mixed bag of basic as well as luxury features. However, we do recommend opting for optional safety features which should provide a better level of safety, and please if you are an audiophile then do not skip over the optional Burmester premium audio system.

Just like before, The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is available in two trim levels. Base trim and an S trim both are powered by different engines. Where the base houses a turbocharged V6 engine, the S trim loads a more powerful twin-turbo V6 engine which performs insanely awesome on the road. Yes, the price tag from Base trim to S trim jumps crazily but seeing how both perform extremely differently on the road says a lot about the hefty price tag. As for the features, the base trim is loaded with a decent set of features which include exterior, interior, and tech features. You will find adaptive suspension dampers, 20-inch wheels, and a power spoiler. Inside you will get power-adjustable sport seats, an adjustable steering wheel, the all-new infotainment system with excellent connectivity, a 10 speaker sound system, automatic climate control, and ambient lighting. The S trim carries the same features with the only key difference being the more powerful engine. Various optional features are also available for all customization for buyers.

Which Trim should you buy?
According to us, people who just crave raw power should go for the S trim with closed eyes. However, for daily usage, we would recommend the base trim. Yes, we know the engine is not as powerful as the twin-turbo V6 from ‘S’, but it offers pretty good driving control which should satisfy a large variety of buyers. The base trim of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe is powered by a 3.0 Litre Turbocharged V6 engine which can produce 335 horsepower and a torque of 332 lb-ft. As usual, the power will be sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission which performs exceptionally amazingly. In fact, it worked so smoothly that we felt as if it was telepathic. As for the engine, the turbocharged V6 takes 5.7 seconds to reach 60 mph from zero and can finish a quarter-mile in 13.9 seconds. These timings might not be the best for its class, but throttle at any time, and you will never feel like it begs for mercy. You will experience an engine with performance that stays ready to pounce. It even sounds pretty good when pushed to high revs, however, the best experience you will get from it while going on cruising speed. The S trim comes with a 434 horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine which can reach 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and certainly provide sporty nature.

Cayenne Coupe’s base engine does perform excellently on its own. However, compare it to the other vehicles on the road and you will soon find it falling behind the line. The Merc AMG GLC 63 Coupe takes the lead by being much faster on the road, clocking just 3.6 seconds to the 60 mph mark, which is expected due to its twin-turbo V8 engine. Then comes BMW X6 and Audi Q8, which even with a similar power output of 335hp, also manage to surpass Porsche. If you want more performance from Porsche, you can go with higher trims.
When we first took it for a spin and experienced the performance, we got so excited that we literally forgot about its fuel economy. But then it seemed as if the engine was fuel-hungry, but to our surprise, Porsche once again did an amazing job. The Cayenne Coupe’s turbocharged V6 engine offers a mileage of 19 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highways, and 20 mpg when combined. These numbers are pretty good for its class, but the 23.7 gallons of fuel tank capacity just makes everything better. As it is easily one of the biggest in its class and results in a driving range that is impressive and varies from 450 to 545 miles. So that means you can easily go anywhere without much thinking about running out of gas. After seeing this the first thing that came to our mind was what Porsche conjured while making such an amazing vehicle. Keep in mind though that the more powerful engine in S trim comes with lower fuel mileage which is again expected.

From the above table, it is clear that BMW X6 takes the lead by offering superior mileage to the others followed by Porsche Cayenne Coupe and Audi Q8. On the other hand, the story changes completely when considering fuel tank capacity as Porsche loaded the Cayenne Coupe with one of the biggest tanks in its class which is why it offers an excellent driving range that manages to catch up with BMW X6 that averages a combined range of 450 miles.
Step inside this 2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe and you will experience one of the best interiors in the class or should we say in the market. The whole cabin looks very sporty with an attractive design and every surface has been loaded with top-tier quality materials. The dashboard is wide and beautiful with an equally good-looking adjustable steering wheel. Behind the wheel is a digital driver display with an analog gauge in the middle. In the case of noise isolation, you will hear outside and engine noises but up to a certain limit. Automatic climate control, however, works effectively. As for the occupants, power-adjustable sport bucket seats are available at the front, which offers an excellent level of comfort and room. Behind a split-folding bench seat is available which offers a good level of comfort and can fold flat easily. The sloped roofline does affect rear row headroom and the standard cargo capacity which is 22 cubic feet. A number that is unimpressive for its class but not bad either. The inside of the vehicle on the other hand offers plenty of storage areas for small items.

Unfortunately, there is no information available regarding interior volume for passengers. So it gets harder to compare the Cayenne Coupe with its rivals. Still, we believe it only lacks behind the others in the case of rear row headroom and the cargo capacity. Audi Q8, on the other hand, offers amazing volume for cargo, which is the highest in the segment at 30.5 cubic feet. Do keep in mind though that you can increase Porsche’s volume by folding a flat rear seat. Below are some of its key interior features.
It seems Porsche has finally heard its fans, which is why for 2022, Cayenne Coupe is coming with the updated infotainment system. So you will finally get a 12.4-inch infotainment touchscreen which is powered by Porsche’s latest software. The display offers an excellent touch response and the UI you get is finally intuitive. Yes, it still takes some time to learn but it works far better than the previous version and one will not get lost while swiping through multiple menus which was a common problem in the previous system. Apple CarPlay support was already there but to make things wholesome Porsche has finally added support for Android Auto. Other connectivity features including auxiliary support, USB ports, and Wifi hotspot are available. A 10 speaker sound system is standard and sounds decent but please do not turn the volume to max or the quality gets compromised. So music lovers should opt for the optional Burmester premium audio system. Below are some of its key infotainment systems.
Although you will not find any changes in the exterior design of the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe. But we must confess that according to us it is the best looking vehicle in its class. The sporty and compact design certainly proves to be a head-turner. At the front, you will find familiar Porsche projector-beam headlamps which are placed above a wide bumper that houses three big vents where one in the middle is the grille in black. At sides, black bodyside cladding with black-trimmed 20-inch wheels is available. Above, power heated side mirrors with power-folding and black trimmed windows are standard. On top, a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade can be found. behind a sloped roofline summarize the Coupe segment with LED brake lights. Now comes the most interesting part of the Cayenne Coupe, a power spoiler that spreads like wings when passed a certain speed limit. Available in multiple beautiful color pallets, Cayenne Coupe looks gorgeous.

Dimensions wise, Cayenne Coupe is somewhat similar to its rivals except for Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 Coupe which is a bit smaller. Despite having some weight, Cayenne Coupe stays nimble on its feet and offers an excellent driving experience which can only be rivaled by BMW X6 which weighs 4784 lbs. The Audi Q7, on the other hand, happens to be the largest SUV here measuring 196.6 inches in length and 78.5 inches in width. Below are some of its key exterior features.
When it comes to the safety of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, it hasn’t been crash-tested by NHTSA and IIHS. Still, Porsche is known for making excellent quality vehicles and we have already mentioned before how Cayenne stays amazingly under control. As for the safety features and assists you will find stability and driveline traction control, ParkAssist with front and rear parking sensors, a forward collision mitigation system, multiple dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera. Yes, the list is very short so buyers will have to pay extra to get adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring system, and lane-keeping assist. This is a bit disappointing as its rivals offer a better feature list without forcing buyers to pay extra. Still, when equipped fully, Cayenne Coupe should come out as a safe vehicle. Below are some of its key safety features.
It seems despite having similar engines when compared, Audi Q8 comes out much faster on the road. The cabin it offers is much more spacious for the occupants and cargo. Lastly, the list of safety features is better. Cayenne Coupe, on the other hand, comes with an engine that offers superior fuel economy and the overall driving experience you get is significantly better. The Porsche takes the win here as a pure driver’s car and turns out to be the best car here.
BMW X6 is one of those vehicles that started this Coupe SUV segment so when stacked against it. You will find that the BMW X6 is much faster on the road and offers superior mileage. The interior volume it offers is also more than what Porsche has. But the Cayenne Coupe comes with a bigger fuel tank which results in an impressive driving range and manages to catch up with the BMW. Out of the two, we recommend BMW for its performance to price ratio.
When stacked against Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, it was expected that Cayenne Coupe would fall behind on the road. After all, V8 against V6 is not an appropriate competition. Still, Merc offers a level of technology that is superior on every level, and on top, you get better safety features. Cayenne on the other hand offers better handling and braking performance. However, due to its power advantage and more affordable price tag, we recommend the Mercedes Benz AMG GLC 63 coupe.
The Cayenne Coupe might not have started this segment, but it sure knows how to succeed at becoming a part of it and offers tough competition. The engine configurations it comes with providing different natures where one is disciplined and the other is monstrous on the road. Still the Porsche Cayenne Coupe manages to stay smooth on the road by offering impressive handling and a spacious and comfortable cabin. The sloped roofline hinders cargo capacity but you can still fit some luggage in. So if you have some spare cash we would suggest going for the 2022 Cayenne Coupe.
