Overall Rating
There have been no major changes to the 2011 Jeep Liberty, as the changes limited to the infotainment system and availability of new color options. The Jeep Liberty's engine is still the same as the previous year.
The 2011 Jeep Liberty is a boxy mid-size SUV that comes with the ability to go off-roading as well. The Liberty is powered by a 3.6 liter V6 making 210 hp. The engine gets a 4-speed automatic and two drivetrain options. The interior is utilitarian and it comes with a decent amount of technology for entertainment. The Jeep is offered at an MSRP of $28,045, this brings it into direct competition with the Nissan Xterra and the Toyota FJ Cruiser.
We recommend buying the renegade trim because owning Jeep Liberty is mostly because you would like a smaller SUV and also be able to take it off riding pants. We recommend getting the most off-road focus trim which also comes standard with many off-road features including the 4x4 system.

We recommend
We recommend buying the renegade trim because owning Jeep Liberty is mostly because you would like a smaller SUV and also be able to take it off riding pants. We recommend getting the most off-road focus trim which also comes standard with many off-road features including the 4x4 system.
The Jeep Liberty is powered by a 3.7 liter V6 making 210 hp and 235 foot-pounds of talk. The engine is paired to a four-speed automatic which is the only transmission option. The transmission directs power to the rear wheels in the sport and limited trim and all the wheels in the renegade. The option of a four-wheel-drive is available.
There are two four-wheel-drive systems available for the Jeep Liberty, for the sport, and limited trim buyers. The first is the Command-Trac II (part-time 4WD) or the Selec-Trac II (all-time 4WD and standard on renegade). The jeep Liberty does the 0 to 60 sprint and 10.2 seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 17.6 seconds. It'll achieve a top speed of one 24 mph and when equipped properly i.e. with the towing equipment group, it can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

The Nissan Xterra does the 0 to 60 sprint in 7.1 seconds and is the most powerful of the above SUVs. The Toyota FJ Cruiser does the 0 to 60 sprint and 7.5 seconds and is marginally less powerful than the Nissan Xterra. The jeep Liberty is the least powerful of the above 210 hp and is the slowest in the 0-60 test.
The Jeep Liberty is offering 16 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and a combined mpg of 18. GP quips the Liberty with a 19.5-gallon fuel tank allowing it to have a range of 312 miles in the city, 429 miles on the highway, and a combined range of 351 miles. The Jeep when equipped with a four-wheel-drive gives 15 in between the city, 21 on the highway in a combined of 17. The range accordingly decreases.

The most combined range is given by the Nissan Xterra of 379 miles. Following this is the Toyota FJ Cruiser and then comes the jeep Liberty giving a combined range of 361 miles and 351 miles respectively.
The Jeep interior can accommodate five occupants comfortably. The interior style is a bit boring but is utilitarian. The base comes with manually adjustable front row seats with cloth upholstery. Available is a popular equipment group that adds heated power-adjustable front seats with memory functions for the driver seat that features standard on the Limited trim.Â
The Limited trim comes with leather seats and also everything that's included in the popular equipment group. The renegade trim being off-road comes with premium cloth upholstery on manually adjustable bucket seats. The Jeep Liberty has a cargo capacity of 25.2 ft.³ which can be expanded by folding down the rear seats.

The jeep Liberty does offer marginally less legroom in the front row but offers the most amount of legroom in the back rows when compared to the Nissan Xterra and the Toyota FJ Cruiser. However, the jeep Liberty offers the smallest trunk space of the above SUVs.
The infotainment system consists of a CD player, satellite radio, and a six-speaker sound system. The Limited trim comes with the addition of Bluetooth and replaces the six-speaker sound system with an eight-speaker sound system.
There is also a media center 430 package which will add a touchscreen interface, a CD/DVD player, and also a navigation system. The renegade trim can be equipped with the navigation convenience group which will add the media center 430 package and also add an 8-speaker sound system.Â
The Jeep Liberty is a boxy SUV and a rugged off-roader at the same time, and we like that about it. However, its best comes with the Renegade trim where it's kitted out to do what it is meant for.
That being said there are a lot of exterior features including wheel options in terms of size and design, skid plates, tow hooks, all-terrain tires, heated rearview mirrors. The renegade gets unique exterior trim. There is the option of a sunroof on the sport and renegade, but there is the option of a “sky-slider” cloth sunroof available as well.

Of the above cars, the Toyota FJ Cruiser is longer than the rest of the cars, the rest of the dimensions are similar to each other. This is also one of the rare cases where the curb weight of a car is lesser.
The NHTSA has not yet completed testing the 2011 Jeep Liberty, we expect it to have good scores. The IIHS has given it a decent set of scores with two “good”, one “marginal” and one “acceptable”. The Jeep Liberty did not get a Top Safety Pick. Jeep does install a lot of safety features, some of these safety features are:
The Jeep Liberty is a boxy off-roader. This is good only if you are looking for an SUV with a good amount of features for you to customize the car. However, the Jeep Liberty’s engine is underpowered when compared to its competition and this is a bit disappointing and that's why we would not recommend buying this car.
