The X5 is a large SUV and hence expecting high fuel efficiency would not be appropriate but the X5 is pretty efficient for the segment. The EPA rates the 2015 X5 for 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg out on the highway, while the combined fuel economy is rated for 22 mpg, thanks to the tweaks to the transmission. The gas tank is on the smaller side at 22.4 gallons, and yet the X5 manages to be driven for around 600 miles out on the highway.

The BMW is the most frugal SUV in this comparison, while the Audi Q7 has the highest fuel consumption. The adjustable and multi-contour seats are the most comfortable seats that one can find in this segment while it is sufficient for all the passengers throughout the cabin. Although, the rear seats aren’t exactly spacious as per industry standards as competitors offer more legroom both at the front and rear.

At the front, the Audi Q7 offers the best legroom, whereas the X5 has wider seats and has a superior headroom. The Mercedes ML 350 offers the best overall space in this comparison as the X5 has limited legroom at the back while the Q7 lacks space as it has to make space for an additional third row of seats.
