The 2021 BMW M4 is priced at an MSRP of $71,800 and $74,700 for the track focussed Competition Coupe, excluding the $995 destination charge. The extra money for the 2021 M4 Competition Coupe brings an additional 30 HP of power and 73 lb-ft of torque over the standard M4. There are 8 colors on offer. Two nonmetallic ones - Alpine White and Sao Paulo Yellow are free of charge, but if you pick any other color out of the six, the MSRP increases by $550. Moreover, two premium colors - Frozen Brilliant White and Frozen Portimao Blue will add $3,600 over the MSRP.

The available options with the 2021 M4 include a Shadowline package that adds a dark finish for the exterior mirrors, rear spoiler, and tailpipes. However, this package is offered as standard with the Competition trims. With the M4 Competition, you also get the luxury of adding the Advanced driver-assistance professional package for another $1,700. 

Though the standard equipment on the 2021 M4 and Competition models are plenty, still BMW offers several packages and stand-alone options for you to customize your coupe. The Executive package, costing $3,000, flushes the cabin with more tech and features such as gesture control, a head-up display, etc while the exterior gains adaptive LED lights. Then comes the M Driver’s Package which increases the top speed of the 2021 M4 to 180 MPH.  The Parking Assistance Package is basic but a necessary option costing $800 with the 2021 BMW M4.

BMW M4 has a long list of standalone features but we would go for lightweight and slick looking M Carbon bucket seats for the inside. On the outside, add M Carbon trim for carbon fiber parts, all at additional expenses.

The 2021 BMW M4 Coupe is a perfect package that does the street and track duties honestly. The M coupe combines ample features, competitive price, and most importantly the insane-levels of performance. Though its new looks bag mixed reviews, the 2021 M4 makes for one the most powerful 4 series models ever. The car is priced slightly more than the outgoing model but is in line with other German rivals.

The base M4 trim, which is not actually a base model, as BMW has everything covered in the coupe. Though our favorite is the BMW M4 Competition, as it gives more power to tap. You can opt for available packages and standalone options as per requirements but the Carbon Fibre seats are a must along with the M Carbon package.

The engine in the 2021 M4 is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 motor producing 473 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, while in the M4 Competition, the same powertrain makes 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. That's 48 hp more than the 2020 BMW M4 and 59 hp and 73 lb-ft of torque in the new Competition models over previous Competition package-equipped cars.

The 2021 BMW M4 comes with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, but you can opt for the available eight-speed torque converter as well. The more powerful 2021 M4 Competition, on the other hand, offers the 8-speed automatic which also gets a similar launch control system as the 2021 BMW M8. The carbon fiber finished paddle shifters with the 8-speed gearbox feel premium and sturdy.

Rear-wheel-drive is standard but for the first time, BMW will offer 2021 M4 Competition with an all-wheel-drive system. That follows a full catalog of BMW's M Performance parts including adaptive dampers, electrically-controlled lightweight titanium exhaust systems. You can control the loudness of the exhaust using the M Sound button. Also, the AWD BMW M4 xDrive is slated to launch in summer 2021.

Among the rivals, the 2021 M4 is the flag bearer with the most horses under the hood. The upgraded S58 engine in M4 and competition models pack a punch. The Lexus RC F's power figures are slightly behind in terms of numbers while the Mercedes-AMG E53 has the least power output. 

The new S58 powerplant allows the 2021 M4 Coupe to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds on the way to a top speed of 155 mph or 180 mph for the M Driver’s Package. The more powerful 2021 M4 Competition model reduces 0 to 60 mph acceleration time to 3.8 seconds and sees similar top speeds. All of this backed by the raw, unadulterated exhaust note.

The BMW M4 comes with a carbon-fiber roof to make the chassis stiffer and lower the center of gravity for better stability in fast corners. Despite this, the M4  and the M4 Competition both weigh around 3830 pounds- that’s more than the outgoing models. Speaking of rivals, the Mercedes AMG E53's 0-60 time is at par with that of the Bimmer. Meanwhile, the Audi RS 5 does a 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, same as that of the RC F.

The 2021 BMW M4 Coupe's gas mileage is estimated at 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highways. Sum it up, and the 2021 BMW M4 Coupe is good for a combined 20 mpg.

However, it also gets the smallest fuel tank capacity with 15.6 gallons. The BMW M4 still manages a driving range of more than 300 miles in mixed driving conditions. The 3.0L Inline 6 cylinder is more focused on performance rather than efficiency.

Looking at the rivals, the Mercedes-AMG E53 Coupe with a combined mpg of 23 performs really very well in the fuel economy department. The M4 coupe also has decent fuel efficiency while Lexus RC F's mpg figures stand last for galloping the most gas per mile.

The new interiors of the 2021 BMW M4 Coupe share the layout with the latest BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 series but with racing-inspired equipment and materials. BMW has given the M4 the M treatment inside too. The M Sport steering wheel with M-coloured stitching and programmable M driving mode buttons alongside a red starter button look sporty. The M-badged gear lever and carbon-fiber trim come standard as well.

The interior has a premium build quality and the 2021 M4's cabin has more room than before. The second-gen M4 rides over a longer wheelbase and is wider too, thus offers more legroom and shoulder room than the 2020 model. 

To further elevate the sporting feel inside, you can go for the M Sport seats that come with built-in M logos along with two-tone trim, though at an extra cost. Even better are the optional carbon-fiber bucket seats. Standard seats are comfortable and are wrapped in premium Merino leather.

Speaking of practicality, the 2021 BMW M4 offers a trunk capacity of 15.5 cubic feet, which is really impressive when compared to segment standards. As all of these cars are coupe they have got a huge liftback tailgate and opens up a good amount of room for cargo.

The 2021 BMW M4 features BMW Live Cockpit Professional along with a 12.3-inch instrument display and a centrally-mounted 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. The M4's infotainment runs BMW's latest iDrive 7.0 software and comes standard with Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility. While driving you can enjoy assistance from BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and have a cockpit feel with the M-specific displays for the instrument cluster.

The M4 also offers myriad control options that allow the user to change and adjust settings and navigate menus via hand gestures, voice commands, and a large rotary controller and buttons that are present on the center console.

The car is also equipped with a Harman/Kardon sound system and has wireless phone charging. Comparatively, BMW's iDrive 7 lacks the finesse of the Mercedes's latest MBUX infotainment system, though it gives you plenty of options and features to enjoy and make your life easier.

A number of changes have been made to the exterior design of the 2021 BMW M4 Coupe, which enjoys greater differentiation from its 4 Series siblings than ever before. The new flared fenders cover the wider tires and track while the grille is the most talked-about aspect. The two most luxurious brands in the industry, the BMW and the Mercedes compete very closely in the segment. In terms of performance, the Mercedes is ahead of the BMW, but BMW is better than the former in terms of space and looks.

The 2021 M4's price point gives it a heavy edge over the 2021 RS 5, but hey, Audi's Quattro AWD system is offered as standard here. This also means that with the 2021 M4, you can have the luxury of sliding out at curves - something absent in the RS 5. In terms of features, Audi's tech is certainly ahead in its segment, but considering that the iDrive now supports Android Auto, it might just surpass the former. That said, the standard 2021 M4 also boasts of 29 extra horses over the RS 5 and for over $4000 cheaper MSRP, we think the Bavarian makes a stronger point here.

2021 BMW M4 Coupe vs Lexus RC F Coupe

The Lexus RC F Coupe is cheaper than the BMW M4 Coupe, having an engine more powerful than the M4. The Lexus stays behind when it comes to torque figures but comes ahead when we talk about power. The fuel economy of the Lexus is not that much good when compared with the BMW. If one is more into luxurious surroundings in the interior then they should go for the Lexus.

With street and track capabilities, the car is equipped with all features that anybody could think of and it has a great road presence. BMW not only raised the M4's performance standards but at the same time balances it with a decent fuel economy. To sum it up, the 2021 BMW M4 Coupe is more than a good car. However, for proper car lovers, this might not be their choice as they might find other contenders with a better package.
