2023 BMW IX Electric for sale

BMW is a German automaker that has been in the automotive industry for years. They have a long history of making performance-oriented cars that keep the driver in focus. BMW gained its reputation for making the driver’s car due to the same reason as they always gave prime focus on the driving dynamics of their car. Unlike other luxury automakers from Germany, BMW does not focus on offering an effortless driving experience. Instead, they have always wanted you to enjoy the drive and get engaged in the process of driving.

The priorities of BMW have changed in recent years, as you can see the comfort factor taking over the driving experience in their recent models. BMW has recently announced the electrified version of their mid-size SUV X5 which is known as the BMW iX. The BMW iX manages to perform well on most aspects that matter to the buyers in the segment and offers an exciting package to the buyers. The 2023 BMW iX competes against the likes of the 2023 Tesla Model X, the 2023 Audi e-Tron, and the 2023 Genesis GV70 Electric

Buying Advice

The 2023 BMW iX comes fairly equipped with a long list of standard tech and features. You can go with the BMW iX with the Convenience package and the Premium package. Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2023 BMW iX is an electric mid-size luxury SUV from the German automaker. The BMW iX uses a dual-electric motor setup to produce more than 500 horsepower even with its base powertrain option. There is also a more powerful M60 variant of the BMW iX that is reviewed separately. The BMW iX is quite a capable SUV in terms of performance and takes less than 4 seconds to complete the 0 to 60 mph sprint which is quite an impressive figure for the segment. The interior is very spacious with ample space in both rows for the passengers. You sit a little knees up in the rear seats but the overall space is not a problem and the floor also remains flat.

Fuel Economy
9.0/10

The 2023 BMW iX comes with a large battery pack when you compare it to its rivals. But considering BMW’s focus on performance, the automaker has given more preference to performance than efficiency. Still, BMW iX comes out as quite an efficient SUV for its segment. The 2023 BMW iX manages to return an MPGe figure of 86 MPGe in the city, 87 MPGe on the highway, and 86 MPGe of combined efficiency. The size of the battery pack is quite large for the competition at a total capacity of 105.2 kWh. When you take that into consideration, the BMW iX manages to deliver a maximum driving range of 315 miles. But that is EPA's estimated figure, and the real-life numbers might differ depending on the driving situation.

Competition
9.0/10

2023 BMW iX vs. 2023 Tesla Model X

The 2023 Tesla Model X comes with a higher base price tag compared to the BMW iX. But for the price, it offers quicker acceleration than the BMW iX. The Tesla Model X takes 3.7 seconds to complete the 0 to 60 mph sprint. You also get access to Tesla’s fast charging network with the Tesla Model X. The driving range of the Tesla Model X is also better than the BMW iX. Both cars have higher performance models and the Tesla Model X takes the lead in terms of performance even there. But the BMW iX offers a different proposition to the buyers at a more affordable price tag. You can go with either of the SUVs depending on your preferences.

2023 BMW iX vs. 2023 Audi e-Tron

The 2023 Audi e-Tron has been in the market for a longer period of time. The Audi e-Tron comes with different priorities compared to the BMW iX. The BMW iX focuses on delivering a fun-to-drive package along with practicality. But the Audi e-Tron focuses more on delivering a luxurious experience and keeps a more comfort-oriented approach. It is slower than the BMW iX in the 0 to 60 mph acceleration and it is also cheaper than the iX. The biggest challenge with the Audi e-Tron is its limited driving range of less than 250 miles. The BMW iX comes out as a more exciting package but the choice depends on your priorities.

2023 BMW iX vs. 2023 Genesis GV70 Electric

The 2023 Genesis GV70 Electric is the most affordable mid-size luxury SUV with an electric powertrain in the competition. It offers slightly better acceleration than the BMW iX at a much more affordable price. The BMW iX takes the lead with a significant margin in terms of overall driving range with a bigger battery pack. The Genesis GV70 Electric also gets a luxurious cabin but it is not quite at the same level as the BMW iX. The BMW iX also offers a more spacious cabin with more space for the front and rear seat passengers. The cargo area of the BMW iX is also significantly larger than the GV70 Electric. The Genesis GV70 Electric is a good option if you have a limited budget. You can consider the BMW iX if budget is not a problem.

Final Verdict

The 2023 BMW iX is a mid-size luxury SUV that uses an electric powertrain underneath. You can consider it as an electrified version of the BMW X5 SUV. But there are some areas where it performs even better than its gasoline-powered counterpart. The first difference you see is in the performance as the BMW iX is quicker than the X5 as it gets an instant torque from the electric motor. The BMW iX also comes with a more modern approach in the cabin with larger screens and more standard tech. The exterior styling of the BMW iX is a distinct approach and it might not appeal to everyone. The exterior design of the car remains a subjective choice for the buyers. The 2023 BMW iX also offers good practicality with a spacious cabin. It gets multiple storage spaces in the cabin and both rows offer ample space for the passengers. The 2023 BMW iX comes out as a good option if you are looking for an electric mid-size luxury SUV that offers a balanced package.
