Both engines are paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission that directs all the power to the rear wheels, 4WD is available for $3,000 (standard on Z71 trim). There is also a Diesel model featuring a 3.0L Duramax engine

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban's interior is updated for the start of its newest generation. It has a seating capacity of 8 and on the Premier and High Country trim comes with 7. The remaining trims can opt for 7 with the help of the second-row captain's chairs. The fleet (commercial use only) is the model which comes with 9 seating capacity and is an option for the LS trim.

Irrespective of the trim, the 2021 Suburban comes with power-adjustable seats for the front row 10-way driver (12-way on higher trims) and 8-way for the front passenger. The interior upholstery is cloth, on the LS, the other trims get leather on the first two rows, with Premier and High country getting Perforated leather. The 2021 Suburban has a cargo capacity of 41.5 cu.ft. same as the Yukon XL and more than the Expedition MAX.

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban comes with a 10.2-inch touchscreen which runs on the Chevrolet Infotainment System 3 Plus interface which is also customizable, HD radio, USB ports including type-C, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, voice-activated technology, and Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM (all-access trial package), 9-speaker bose system.

On the LT and higher trims, the 10.2-inch touchscreen comes with Chevrolet Infotainment System 3 Plus with navigation and real-time traffic, this is standard on the Premier and High Country trims, which also have a 10-speaker Bose sound system. There is the option of a rear seat media system that comes with dual 12.6-inch HD touchscreens (which also comes with the Rear Media and Nav package).

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban has been redesigned on the exterior. It features a similar design to the Tahoe's front fascia. Its exterior features a large grille and 18-inch wheels, active aero shutters, black-colored assist steps, black roof-mounted side rails, heated power outside mirrors, LED headlights and taillights, deep-tinted glass, and solar absorbing windshield.

The exterior does vary a bit based on the trim, the Z71 trim gets 20-inch wheels and dark accents as standard, on the RST and higher trims get 22-inch wheels as standard with all-season tires.
