... and red light. Service says there is nothing wrong with it claiming they have driven it and it doesn’t happen to them. On top of that the transmission makes a horrible crunching sound, the doors sound like they’re about to fall off, road noise is terrible, and the hard top leaks when it rains. This is my 8th Ford vehicle to own and I have never had any issues with one. I don’t see ever buying another Ford justRead More

Overall Safety Rating

The 2023 Ford Bronco created quite a stir when it was first launched a couple of years back and it remains in the headlines, but not for the right reasons. The constant issues faced by owners seen all over the internet have got all owners and potential buyers worried alike. The reason for concern is that Ford Bronco has as many as 6 recalls and 107 complaints to date.

The Bronco 2023 gets an overall reliability rating of 78/100 from J.D. Power which is far less than other SUVs at a similar price point. Although the resale value is good due to its current appeal and hype, the quality and reliability need to be worked on. Add to that a 5-year cost of ownership value of over $60,000 for the Bronco, and it suddenly seems less attractive to even many used car buyers.

User Complaints for the 2023 Ford Bronco

The issues with the 2023 Ford Bronco commonly faced by owners are whistling hood, speaker buzz, tire issues, backup camera issues, soft-top roll bar scrapes, etc. Major complaints for the Bronco 2023 have been for viper motor malfunctioning (76), electrical system issues (6), engine issues (6), and powertrain issues (6), amongst others.

Mechanical Problems

  • Engine - Since its launch, the Ford Bronco has had several engine issues on models equipped with the 2.7L V-6 engine. Due to an issue with the valves detaching and dropping into the cylinder, the engine can fail completely. Engine replacements can take months in some cases.
  • Brakes - When using the tow mode, the electronic brake boost system has failed for some owners, reducing brake boost and making the Bronco move.
  • Transmission - Grinding noise from the transmission system was reported by some owners as early as 10,000 miles. Rough shifting, slipping transmission, and leaks are some of the common occurrences.
  • Steering - The drive mode selector is used to stop working abruptly for some, thus disabling the power steering system while on the move.

Electrical Problems

  • Electrical malfunction - Some owners reported that the electrical system failed when on the move, causing the engine to shut down and unable to restart. The transmission computer, transmission sensor, and solenoid are common points of concern.

Exterior Problems

  • Windshield - There have been reported cases of the front windshield cracking even without any external damage in the previous MY Bronco. Currently, there are several complaints of vipers not working, intermittently working or constantly malfunctioning in time of need.
  • Structure - Water leaking into the cabin was reported by some owners of the new-gen Bronco, especially on the passenger side roof. Water leakage through the windshield seals has also been an issue for many users.

Should you buy the 2023 Ford Bronco?

While the Bronco continues to be an excellent off-roader with plenty of performance and old-school charm, the Ford Bronco 2023 problems are a huge concern. If you're in the market for one, keep an eye out for engine issues as it's the most common problem reported so far, especially if it's equipped with the 2.7L EcoBoost engine. While problems with the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport are not entirely life threatening, skipping this model year would not be a bad option.
