Genesis entered the US market under the Hyundai Group's luxury brand in 2017. With Japanese build quality meeting the Korean value for money standards, the all new 2023 Genesis G70 is the perfect entry level luxury sedan. It gives a tough competition to its German rivals like BMW 3 Series and Mercedes Benz C Class. The G70 is a very fun to drive car with a high end premium interior.

While the G70 boasts of its amazing value for money tech, specs and performance, there have been a few hiccups which owners of this car have faced about which we will be discussing further. Before you make the decision to get this car we recommend you to read on to know whether you should get it or not.

The following are some of the common issues in previous model years of G70.

Mechanical Complaints

Powertrain - A constant stalling issue and failing to shift gears without even any warning light is evident in 2019 models. However in 2021 models while depressing on the accelerator pedal, several warning lights popped up in OBD and the car got seized and refused to move.
Steering - Some clicking noise while steering is evidently noticed in a few cases. While some other units have a problem of steering jerks along with malfunctioning cruise control buttons mounted on the steering wheel.
Brake - While braking at traffic or from highway speeds, a jitter through the whole body has been noticed in a few models. Also sudden engagement of brakes when pressing the brake pedal lightly has been reported by a few users.

Safety Complaints

Driving Assistance Feature - While using the Cruise Control Feature, a user has reported the car suddenly started accelerating and the whole drive turned into a horrific experience on highways, which might have resulted into a very bad crash.
Air Bags - Many Cases have been reported where the airbags failed to deploy. A particular case where the user was driving at 60mph and hit a deer which resulted in a damaged front part of the car but the whole air bag system was down.

Exterior Issues

Sunroof - While driving at 50mph at 40 degrees outside, the sunroof shattered spontaneously as per the customer report.

Electronics Issues

Infotainment System - The erratic operation of the infotainment system is evident in a few cases where Apple CarPlay stopped working, Maps, Waze and other apps did not work and adjusting these while driving may cause fatal accidents.

As of now there are no recalls for 2023 G70 yet; the car is new and has not hit the roads yet.

Should you buy the 2023 Genesis G70?

With an original design language, 2023 Genesis G70 is unique on its own. It might not have the best in class reliability but when it comes to performance and pricing, it handles like a charm. And it is a pocket rocket which is absolutely a bang for the buck. Seeing a Genesis G70 rolling on the streets is a rare sight because its German Rivals are already widespread everywhere.
