    ... be the same glitchy model (no upgrading to newer systems) leaving one with a bill of parts and labor in the thousands. One may think that the only loss is audio and GPS, but no, it controls climate, backup cameras, side mirrors, and so many other things… The dealers and the corporate office take absolutely no responsibility for a crappy product and simply state that these things happen with cars. 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab Problems

Electrical issues:

  • Battery issue: The Sierra 1500 battery issue is a widely reported problem and has caused a lot of inconveniences. People have reported the truck’s battery to die if it is sitting for a couple of days. People have also reported random shut-down of the truck’s electrical system when driving on the highway. 
  • Insufficient headlight throw: Some people have reported the headlights to have an insufficient throw at night. People have reported the throw becomes very weak while turning. 
  • Bright infotainment system: The infotainment system in the Sierra 1500 is reported to be very bright during the night, causing difficulty while driving. The glare is strong and cannot be adjusted.
  • Backup camera issues: People have reported the Sierra 1500 backup camera to give issues. The camera screen doesn’t switch when the gears are put to drive. This has caused some collisions as well, although minor. 

Mechanical issues:

  • Steering lock-ups: The Sierra 1500 steering locks up and causes a loss in steering control. People have reported this issue to crop up when driving at low speeds. Some people have also complained of the issue at highway speeds, causing collisions.
  • Suspension issues: People have reported the control arms of the truck to go bad and break. This breakage has caused many accidents on the highway because the wheel separated from its place.
