Every dealer nowadays is trying to push an EV on you and to make matters worse most of them are SUVs. So if you live in California here are some fun and efficient hydrogen-sipping cars worth a shot

After culling their previous and only Hydrogen powered offering Clarity, Honda is back in the States, and this time with an entirely new car based on Hydrogen/Electric mashup. The CRV e: FCEV sounds and is complicated thanks to a couple of Hydrogen tanks and a GM-sourced electric battery that promises 270 miles of range and 174-hp/229-lb-ft.

The CRVe is the only Hydrogen-powered car on our list that can be charged via conventional outlets for up to 30 miles of range in case you are looking to take a trip out of California.

Sadly or gladly depends on who you ask It is not available for purchases and can only be leased for around $500 starting fall 2024 in California.

2025 Hyundai Nexo

Maybe Koreans thought they could do better or just simply couldn’t stand Honda selling millions of Clarity over 20 years, lol. The 2025 Hyundai Nexo is a bit more svelte looking H-powered SUV with a lot of space and a claimed range of 380 miles. The 2025 version of Nexo is a carried-over model and comes in 2 trims, Blue and Limited. The latter adds heated seats, a panoramic roof, and fancy wheels but comes with a range of 350-odd miles.

Regardless of which Hyundai Nexo trim you go for you get $15,000 in free Hydrogen refills or up to 6 years from the date of purchase.

The pricing for the 2025 Nexo is expected to be the same at around $62,000. Nexos are built to order and have a waiting period of up to 4 months.

The age-old rivalry between Honda and Toyota has now trickled down to renewable fuels. Refreshingly, Mirai is a classic sedan that has been in the Hydrogen business for quite some time now. Just like Nexo, the Mirai is offered in two trims and comes with up to 400 miles of claims range.

The XLE version starts at $50,000 and the limited has quite an ambitious price at $68,000 and comes with HUD, a panoramic roof, power sunshades leather steering, etc at the expense of 50 miles of range. The Mirai also comes with up to $15k in Hydrogen fuel credits and all the cars on our list qualify for HOV lane access.
