Used 2011 BMW 5 Series for sale 

The 2011 BMW 5 Series comes in three trim options – 528i, 535i, 550i. Each trim comes with its own engine and the power goes to the rear wheels in its stock configurations. The mid-level and the top-level trim, both have the option of all-wheel drive drivetrains. The price of the sedan starts with $45,925 and goes up to $61,075 for the top-end 550i.

We recommend buying the BMW 535i because it comes with a better engine and also has options which allow it to get more comfortable. We also recommend getting the available Sport Package, which improves its appearance and also offers more comfortable front row seats. When all-wheel drive is available, we do say opt for it, but this decision we will leave to you.

The base/entry-level 528i trim comes with a 3-liter inline-six engine that makes 240 hp and 230 lb-ft of torque. The 535i gets a turbocharged version of the same engine, which makes 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The 550i gets a turbocharged 4.4 liter V8 that gives 400hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels with the help of an eight-speed automatic transmission. There is the option for a manual transmission and also an all-wheel drive.

The BMW 528i does 0 to 60 sprint in 6.4 seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 14.9 seconds. The 535i does the 0 to 60 sprint in 5.5 seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds, and finally the BMW 550i can do the 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds and a quarter-mile and 13.1 seconds. All the trims will achieve a top speed of 155 mph.

The most powerful of the above cars is the 268 hp Mercedes-Benz E350. Following this is the Audi A6 which makes 265 hp, and then comes the BMW 528i which makes 240 hp. The faster 0 to 60 is said by the BMW 528i with a time of 6.4 seconds. Both Audi and BMW stand together with a top speed of 155 mph.

The all-new 2011 BMW 528i offers 19 mpg in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and a combined mpg of 25. It comes with an 18.5-gallon fuel tank, which allows it a range of 407 miles in the city, 592 miles on the highway, and a combined range of 462 miles. The 535i variant gives 22 mpg in the city, and 32 mpg on the highway, and a combined of 25 mpg. The 550i gives 17 in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, combined of 20 mpg. The range accordingly improves in the city for the 535i and the range decreases for the 550i.

The most combined range is offered by the Audi A6, which offers 506 miles. Then comes the BMW 528i with a range of 462 miles (combined). With the least range of the above cars is the Mercedes-Benz E350 of 422 miles. When comparing the combined mileage of the above given cars, BMW stands at the top with 25 mpg, which is 1 mpg more than what Audi A6 manages to offer. 

The interior of the BMW 5 Series is stylish and sophisticated and can accommodate 5 occupants. The base/entry-level trim gets leatherette upholstery on an 8-way power front seat with driver memory functions, and for additional comfort, dual-zone automatic climate control is present. The 535i trim is similarly equipped. But the 550i trim gets leather upholstery and improved front seats. 

There is the optional Sport Package which adds 14-way multi-contour front seats. Additional options for the interior do include heated and ventilated front seats, rear climate control, and a heated steering wheel. The BMW 5 Series comes with a cargo capacity of 14 ft.³, which can be expanded by folding down the rear seats.

In terms of front legroom, all the above sedans offer a similar amount of space and a margin difference of 0.2 differentiated. When we speak of rear legroom, the BMW 5 Series offers the least which is just 2 inches lesser than the most offered by the Mercedes-Benz E350. How intuitive is the Infotainment unit?

The BMW 5 Series includes the iDrive control interface, which includes features of Bluetooth connectivity, HD radio, BMW assists, and is paired to a 12 speaker audio system. The 5 Series on the 550i gets a navigation system that has voice controls and real-time traffic. The BMW 5 Series is similar to the other sedans, except for the wheelbase of the 5 Series, which is slightly longer than the other two. The 2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 is wider than the rest as well.
