About 2011 Ford Fusion

4.1

Overall Rating

The Ford Fusion is one of the most successful cars from the Blue Oval and has been around since its 2006 model year.

The Ford Fusion is one of the most successful cars from the Blue Oval and has been around since its 2006 model year. The sedan is an inexpensive yet practical vehicle and received a major redesign in its previous model year. The 2011 sedan comes with minor detail changes and remains technically unchanged. The sedan is powered by a 2.5liter gasoline engine and offers an optional flex-fuel V6 and a normal V6 motor.

We would recommend the SEL trim since it adds a lot more features over the base S trim. You can also have it in an AWD layout for further practicality.

would buy again!

Pros

The color of paint, it’s very fast

Cons

The sunroof, no window tint

I love this car! all around it’s wonderful! it’s fast, gains speed real quick. Only downside is i had to replace the rack and pinion and that was almost 2k, but it was cheaper than buying another car. Gas mileage was better than i expected! i live in a rural area and i get almost 30mpg!

2011 Ford Fusion Review

Pros

  • Spacious interior
  • Engaging handling
  • Comfortable ride
  • Excellent Ford Sync system
  • Good fuel economy from the four-cylinder engine
  • Available all-wheel drive

Cons

  • Button-happy center stack
  • A coarse four-cylinder engine note
  • Numb electric power steering on non-Sport models

The Ford Fusion is one of the most successful cars from the Blue Oval and has been around since its 2006 model year.

Overview

The Ford Fusion is one of the most successful cars from the Blue Oval and has been around since its 2006 model year. The sedan is an inexpensive yet practical vehicle and received a major redesign in its previous model year. The 2011 sedan comes with minor detail changes and remains technically unchanged. The sedan is powered by a 2.5liter gasoline engine and offers an optional flex-fuel V6 and a normal V6 motor.

Pricing and Features
8.0/10

The 2011 Ford Fusion sedan is offered in four trim levels. The trim levels start from S which offers a pretty basic vehicle with quite a few features on board. The SE trim adds some feature upgrades and makes it more practical in real life. The SEL offers a unique feature, a V6 motor with a flex-fuel option and it is offered only with the AWD version of the sedan. The top-specced Sport trim comes with a sport-tuned steering and suspension setup and also comes with a standard V6 motor to offer a truly sporty experience.

We Recommend

We would recommend the SEL trim since it adds a lot more features over the base S trim. You can also have it in an AWD layout for further practicality.

Engine and Performance
8.6/10

The 2011 Ford Fusion sedan is powered by a 2.5liter straight-four motor. The higher SEL trim comes with an optional V6 motor which has more power and adds flex-fuel capabilities. The basic motor is good for a decent 175 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque.

The motor is adequate for a family sedan and within the city limits the sedan won’t feel underpowered and even if you fully load it up, the engine holds up pretty well. Out on the highways though, you might feel the need for that optional V6 motor if you desire that extra punch. The six-speed manual gearbox is just fine but the optional 6-speed automatic box increases the fuel economy and responsiveness of the powertrain to a certain extent.

The Nissan Altima has identical horsepower as the Fusion but it offers the best in class torque output from a powerplant of similar displacement. The Subaru Legacy’s flat-4 motor doesn’t pack in some extra punch and the performance is just at par with the rest of the rivals on the list. The Camry takes the bottom place both in terms of horsepower and torque output.

Fuel Economy
8.0/10

An excellent fuel economy is what most budget sedan buyers look for in the offerings and the Ford Fusion doesn’t disappoint a bit. With its 2.5liter powerplant, it returns a respectable 22mpg in urban limits while out on the highways the number climbs to 32mpg. The combined mpg is rated at 25mpg.

The Nissan Altima is, by far, the most impressive sedan on the list. Despite its highest power output, on paper, it is the most fuel-efficient sedan here although its numbers are more only by a slight margin. The Subaru Legacy’s fuel efficiency takes a hit owing to its flat-four engine and sits at the bottom of the chart. The Toyota Camry is also as efficient as the Fusion and the Altima.

Interior
8.7/10

The interior of the Ford Fusion sedan is simple but attractive in its own way. The overall design language appeals to the eye once you are inside and there are plenty of soft-touch materials all around the cabin. The fit and finish levels are commendable with plenty of storage spaces inside.

The sitting position of the Fusion is lower than its rivals and the adjustable seats along with the tilt and telescoping steering wheel offer an excellent driving position. There is ample legroom for the front passenger as well as the rear passengers with a good amount of headroom too. The cabin is quiet in most of the environments owing to the increased sound deadening from the last model year refresh.

The Nissan Altima and the Subaru Legacy have the best headroom for the front passenger and the driver among the rivals while the Camry offers a slightly better headroom for the rear passengers. When pitted against each other, the Legacy is the most spacious one on the list but lacks in the overall fit and finish levels of the interiors among the competition.

Infotainment

The infotainment system of the Ford Fusion comes with the excellent SYNC 3 system and incorporates some basic entertainment features such as a CD player, AM/FM, and HD radio. The optional navigation system also displays Sirius Travel Link real-time information which ranges from real-time traffic updates to weather conditions and sports scores. Some optional features include a high-wattage Sony audio system.

Some highlighted features of the infotainment system are:

  • Ford SYNC 3
  • HD Radio
  • AM/FM
  • Navigation
  • Sirius Travel Link(optional)
  • Bluetooth(optional)

Exterior
8.0/10

The 2011 Ford Fusion looks like a perfect family sedan from every angle. The bigger front grille with chrome bars might not look too appealing but it goes along with the rest of the design quite seamlessly.

The headlamp units are sculpted into the front fenders nicely and the simple design of the sheet metal gives an overall ordinary look to the sedan. Its design is a lot sleeker than some of its rivals while it is not as sleek as the Kia Optima.
