About 2011 Toyota Prius hybrid

4.2

Overall Rating

The 2011 Toyota Prius hybrid is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in this segment that also provides great comfort in the interior. Along with that, it provides considerable spacing for all the passengers that it accommodates.

The 2011 Toyota Prius hybrid sees no new changes in this year's model after a major refresh that it got the previous year. It is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in this segment that also provides great comfort in the interior. Along with that, it provides considerable spacing for all the passengers that it accommodates. Starting at the base price of $22,120, the top-of-the-line Prius Five can go up to $28,790. The 2011 Prius competes with equally capable vehicles like the Honda Insight and Lexus CT 200h in this segment.

To get the best possible experience, we would recommend the Prius Four, which adds over standard the features of the Prius Three. It includes leather upholstery, heated front seats, keyless entry, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Along with that, there is an option to opt for the Navigation package or the Solar Roof package that adds to the overall costing. But at the base price of $27,320, the Prius Four provides the best value for the money spent.

Engine and Performance
8.2/10

The 2011 Toyota Prius hybrid is available in a single engine option of a 1.8 liters inline four-cylinder engine. Along with that, it is assisted by a 60 kilowatt permanent magnetic synchronous electric motor. The 1.8-liter engine generates 98 horsepower, while the permanent synchronous magnet motor generates a total of 80 horsepower. Thus we get a combined power output of 134 HP along with 105 pound-feet of torque.

The engine setup is mated with a continuously variable-speed automatic transmission that delivers the power to the front wheels as standard. The Prius is really slow on acceleration, as it takes 9.7 seconds to reach the 60 MPH mark from a standstill while covering the quarter-mile distance takes 17.1 seconds. The Prius also has a top speed of 103 mph.

The Honda Insight has a slightly smaller 1.3-liter engine that produces a much lower 98 HP along with 123 pound-feet of torque. The Lexus is the slowest of them all with zero to 60 mph in 10.5 seconds, while the Honda Insight takes 7.9 seconds.
