The 2012 BMW X5 is available in two gasoline engine options. The first one is a 3-liter inline-six turbocharged engine which generates 300hp along with 300 lb-feet of torque. The second engine is a 4.4-liter V8, a twin-turbocharged engine that generates a staggering 400hp along with 450 lb-feet of torque.

Both the engines are powerful and provide great overall performance. The engines are mated with an 8-speed shiftable automatic transmission and deliver the power to all the wheels as standard. This engine setup allows the BMW to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, while it takes 15.1 seconds to cover the quarter-mile distance.

The Audi Q5 sits at the bottom of the table in this segment with a power output of 270hp.
