2013 marks the beginning of a new compact car called Dart from Dodge, a brand well known for its rumbling V8-powered muscle cars. With design inspiration from the Alfa Romeo, the Dart is a well-built compact car that doesn't feel like a compact car. Yes, it possesses the most spacious cabin in this segment with a reasonable price tag. Although, this car has some performance flaws that avert the consumers on to its rivals.
We recommend you to test drive both the base 2.0 Litre (SE) and turbocharged 1.4 Litre (GT) engines as both of them have their boon and bane. If you are looking for efficiency with less gutsy performance then a 2.0-liter engine suits you. If power is all you need, we recommend buying the GT version but you may experience the turbo lag.

The Dodge Dart comes in two different engine options, all variants except the high-end GT version are powered by the 2.0 Litre Inline 4 engine that churns out 160 horsepower and 148 lb.-ft of torque that is par less for the weight it owns. While the turbocharged 1.4-liter engine puts out 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft of torque and is quite pleasing to drive. But all the variants can be maxed out to the turbocharged engine.
By default, both the engines are coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission and have an optional 6-speed automatic transmission too. In terms of performance, the dart with the Inline 4 engine can reach 60 mph in 9.9 seconds which is sub-standard, whereas the turbocharged engine achieves the same feat in 8.3 seconds. In the top speed test, the Dart records 130 MPH.
