My Nissan Murano is a good car because it has lots of room for a family (car seat also ) the carpet in the Murano is easy to keep clean , the gas mileage isn't to good even after I got a tune up and oil change, I feel like it's a safe car for my granddaughters to ride in because of the way the seatbelts tighten up really good so my babies are secure

We Recommend

Although the SL offers leather upholstery, the Nissan Murano SV makes the most sense as it has a hefty bit of added features and tech. The LE trim offers 20” wheels, though they are best avoided as they truly spoil the ride quality.

Engine and Performance

Powering the new Nissan Murano is the same 3.5L V-6 motor that makes 260 horsepower and 240 foot-pounds of torque. The engine is mated to Nissan’s Xtronic CVT, though the engine actually does shine through and the powertrain is quite responsive.

The gearbox moves over the whole range rather smoothly, though it does not offer manual shifting, which is a bit of a disappointment. The steering is highly responsive, and the Murano actually seems much more agile than it should be.

Comparing acceleration to 60 mph, the Murano is a bit slower than the average. The Ford Edge is the fastest to get up to speed. The Jeep Grand Cherokee offers a clunky and rather old 5-speed automatic which is the slowest of the competitors. Comparing power output though the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the best powered in the bunch.

While the segment now has started offering inline-4s and turbocharged motors, the 3.5L V-6 is a bit on the inefficient side. Even then it does manage to give 18 mpg in cities, 24 mpg on highways, and 20 mpg combined. The AWD system on the other hand reduces the highway mileage by 1 mpg.

The large crossover gets a huge 21.7 gallons of fuel capacity. Which lets the Murano go upto 450 miles without the need to refuel. The Ford Edge is the most efficient of the lot, although it has the smallest fuel capacity, and hence the lowest range. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the least efficient car in the competition.

Interior

While the exteriors are exceptionally well-styled, the interiors seem a bit on the plainer side. Nissan does use a plethora of well-designed touches and fine materials to line the cabin and make it feel upscale.

The front seats are quite accommodating and adjustable for a variety of sizes. The rear seats have great space, though they don’t take well to 3 passengers. The rear also has great headroom.

Comparing the luggage space, the Murano has the least storage space (31.6 cu-ft) of the competition, and overall the segment as well. Even the rear-seat legroom for the crossover seems a bit lacking. Every Murano comes with a 7-inch display in the dashboard. The SV trim offers a color display in the same place which includes a backup camera. The display has AM/FM/CD players included and even has USB and iPod Connectivity. Satellite radio can be had in the SV trim onwards. The basic audio system is a 6-speaker setup, though a Bose 9-speaker premium system with dual subwoofers is offered in higher trims.

The new Nissan Murano is one of the best looking crossovers in the segment. The car has the shape of a station wagon overall, though the curves and the width make it look much more rugged and powerful.

The current version is rather well designed and crisply detailed. The wheels are quite large in proportion, and particularly the 20” ones make the car look exceptionally well-styled.
