The 2014 Nissan Armada comes in three trim levels - SV, SL, and Platinum. All trims offer a 5.6 liter V8 making 317hp and 385 lb-ft of torque, and the power goes to the rear wheels or all the wheels. The trim adds very few items to the exterior but many to the interior, which is the main selling point of this SUV. The SUV is meant for a person who wants comfort over other things.

We recommend getting the Nissan Armada SL trim, which comes with better comfort features than the SV with leather interiors and heated front seats. This also gets 20” alloy wheels and a power-folding third row. The good part is that with either of the drivetrains the price matches the initial offer price of its competition.

The Nissan Armada is powered by a 5.6 liter naturally aspirated V8 that makes 317 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque. The power is managed by a 5-speed automatic transmission, and it directs all the power to the rear wheels or all four wheels (4WD) depending on the drivetrain you select. It comes with a towing capacity of 9,100 pounds (when properly equipped). 

In the performance tests, the Nissan Armada does the 0-60 sprint in 7.4 seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 15.9 seconds, this is in its base configuration of rear-wheel-drive. When equipped with a four-wheel-drive, it can do the 0-60 sprint in 6.7 seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 15.1 seconds. Both drivetrains will achieve a top speed of 112 mph.

The most powerful of the above cars are the Chevrolet Tahoe and the GMC Yukon, both making 320 hp. Then comes the Nissan Armada that makes 317 hp, followed by the Ford Expedition with 310 hp. In the performance tests, the fastest 0-60 time is set by the Nissan Armada with a time of 7.4 seconds. Then come the Tahoe and Yukon with a time of 7.5 seconds and Ford with a time of 7.8 seconds.

The Nissan Armada offers 13 mpg in the city, 19 mpg on the highway, and a combined mpg of 15. The Armada comes with a fuel capacity of 28 gallons, which allows it to have a range of 364 miles in the city, 532 miles on the highway, and a combined range of 420 miles. When equipped with 4WD, the mpg figures reduce a bit as the SUV offers 12/18/14 in the city, highway, and combined, respectively, thus reducing the range. 

The most combined range is offered by the Ford Expedition, with 448 miles. Then comes the Chevrolet Tahoe and the GMC Yukon both with a combined range of 442 miles and then comes the Nissan Armada with a combined range of 420. Even though this comes with the largest fuel tank it still has comparatively lesser mpg figures which keep the range lesser than its competition. 

The Nissan Armada comes with a seating capacity of 8 occupants across the three rows. The front row seats feature an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with a 4-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. There are also power-adjustable pedals. The SL trim comes with heated front seats and a power-folding third-row seat. The Platinum trim adds heated second-row seats and the option of captain’s seats.

The interior upholstery for the base trim is cloth, the SL and above trims comes with a leather upholstery. The interior of the Platinum trim features two-tone leather upholstery as well along with seat ventilation and unique interior trim. The Armada has a cargo capacity of 20 cu.ft. This space can be expanded by folding down the rear seats and further expanded by folding down the second-row seats as well. 

The 2014 Nissan Armada marginally offers the most legroom in the front row and second row. However, in the third row, it offers the second most amount of legroom with 5-inches lesser than the Ford Expedition and 7-inches more than the two GM offerings. The interior space improves as the trunk space is the most of the above vehicles. Few key features include-

How intuitive is the Infotainment unit of the 2014 Nissan Armada?

There is a 7-inch color display in the base - SV trim and the mid-level - SL trim. The system has the basics with AM/FM radio, CD player, auxiliary jack input and USB connectivity, and even SiriusXM satellite radio.

Fitted is also an 8-speaker sound system. In the Platinum trim, there is a 7-inch touchscreen display, which comes with an integrated navigation system and even a rear-seat DVD entertainment system featuring two 7” inch headrest mounted screens. Along with this is an 11-speaker Bose audio system with Bluetooth audio connectivity. Major infotainment features include-

The Nissan Armada looks like an SUV but is built like a car, unlike its truck-like frame on chassis build of its competition. The exterior is quite like every other SUV, it's big and bulky. The exterior of the Nissan Armada features 18-inch wheels and side step rails on the base trim. The mid-level trim features 20” alloy wheels and a roof rack.

The Platinum does add 20” chrome wheels and a sunroof. Surprisingly, unlike its competition that extensively uses chrome as highlights for the exterior, the Nissan Armada does not use that instead uses body-colored exterior highlights or black colored exterior highlights, which can be found in the Platinum Reserve package, which offers dark chrome 20” alloy wheels and grille. 

In terms of exterior dimensions, the Nissan Armada is similar to that of the competition, except for the length, where it is 6 inches longer than the GM offerings, and its wheelbase where it is longer in that too. The difference can be seen in the curb weight, where it is the lightest of the above vehicles. Few key exterior features include-

The 2014 Nissan Armada has not yet been crash-tested by the NHTSA. The IIHS has not crash-tested the 2014 Nissan Armada, nor has it any of the previous years. However, Nissan has installed a lot of active and passive safety features in the SUV. Some of the most important safety features are-

The 2014 Nissan Armada is a full sized SUV and comes with many comfort features rather than being visually appealing. The interior is very spacious on the front and second row, and the optional captain seats mean more comfort. There is a good amount of infotainment too especially in the top of the line trim with rear-seat entertainment. With good options, multiple accessories, and impressive towing capacity, the Nissan Armada’s big advantage is its starting price, which is considerably lesser than its competition.
