Why I love This Car

Pros

•Backup Camera, •Gas saver

Cons

•Trunk space, •small arm rest

This car is a very great car , especially for a first car , it’s not to big it’s not to small. I’m inlove with the interior of the car with leather seats and heated seats as well , and I really love that about my car. It really runs well , and I think it’s a very great gas saver . Never really had any major issues with the car , and any safety issues with the car at all. I think it’s a really goo... Read more

2014 Toyota Camry Review

Pros

  • Fuel-efficient engines
  • Comfortable and spacious interior with above-average rear-seat accommodations
  • Above-average outward visibility

Cons

  • Numb handling
  • Frustrating infotainment controls

Revised just the previous year, the 2014 Toyota Camry does not get any major upgrades this year. It carries forward the same two engine options while providing great performance

Overview

The 2014 Toyota Camry manages to be a best-selling car in the midsize sedan segment. This Toyota sedan values practicality above all traits. Even though it lacks behind in performance, the MPG ratings are great, and its unquestionable reliability makes it a crowd favorite. The new Toyota Camry has also been well priced at a starting MSRP of $22,425 for the base L trim while the top-rack XLE V6 can climb up to $30,705.

The Camry is more of a point A to point B car that offers a comfortable travel experience with Toyota’s bulletproof reliability and cheap cost of ownership. Its engine manages to be economical despite being peppy. The department where it disappoints is driving, the steering wheel feedback is a healthy figure close to zero. This is resolved up to a certain level in the higher trims such as SE, which gets better suspensions.

Pricing and Features
9.0/10

Toyota being the brilliant car manufacturer that they are have brought out 6 different trims of the 2014 Camry to serve the wide requirements of their customers. With higher trims, there isn’t a gaping price difference but rather justifiable premiums for the additional features they offer, and they do.

Buying Advice

If you can let the bigger wheels slide by you with ease the LE trim sounds like the best deal. It offers all the extra bits to make you feel good about your choice of purchase and the price hike is the bare minimum. Going for the higher trims would add more comfort as well as performance equipment, which might not be the most important for your purchase.

Engine and Performance
7.5/10

"The most significant turnoff for some people will be in the way that the Camry drives. Although the ride quality is smooth, the driving experience overall feels rather disconnected and numb." -Edmunds.Com

The 2014 Camry is offered with 2 gas-only engine options. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 178 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The next one is a more powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 268 hp of power and 248 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines, irrespective of their power outputs, are capable of offering enough grunt for a commuter. Lastly, there's the Toyota Camry Hybrid which gets the same 2.5L I4 but in assistance with an electric motor. It is rated to return an EPA-estimated 39 mpg combined.

Among rivals, the most powerful in the lot is the Hyundai Sonata with 192 hp of power and 179 lb-ft of torque. However, the Toyota follows with its 178hp four-cylinder motor and does a 0-60 mph run well within 8.4 seconds. But in most aspects, the Sonata easily leads the pack in terms of performance figures.

Fuel Economy
9.0/10

Mileage has been one of the strong suits of the Camry ever since its introduction and it continues in 2014 as well. The Camry returns 25 MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the highways. These figures are accompanied by quite the punchy engine and good comfort, which makes it a really great deal.

For city mileage, the Camry leads the pack with 25 mpg, while the rivals falter behind slightly. But once on the highway, the Hyundai Sonata matches the Camry for its fuel efficiency. Also, the bigger gas tank on the Sonata also gives it the benefit of covering a longer distance in a single refill.

The Toyota Camry really takes the cake for offering great cabin space, along with a cozy interior that makes use of great materials. Spending time inside the cabin is as comfortable as it can get. The seats are great in the front as well as the back row.

Exterior
8.0/10

"Compared to many of the more curvaceous alternatives in the mid-size sedan segment, the Camry looks a little more angular, a little more upright." -TheCarConnection.Com

The Toyota Camry looks really simple in design, it easily blends into the traffic. The car comes in normal colors and doesn’t really make someone fall for it at first glance. The exterior is highly simplistic with a focus on maximizing space in the cabin, though it does feel a bit box-like on the get-go.

It received a complete redesign in 2012, but that largely kept the exterior dimension the same. It weighs just north of 3200 lbs and dimensionally it stays close to that of its competition. The light construction of this four-door is the reason for its easy to maneuver nature in the city.

Final Verdict

If you are looking for a sedan that offers ample space, decent MPG, good value for money, and performance that can keep up with the crowd, then the Toyota Camry is the best option for you. As this is a Toyota, the maintenance cost of the Camry will be cheaper in comparison to its rivals. The reliability of the car will have you clocking years of happy miles in this car.
