Powering the 2015 i8 is a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. There's a 7.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The gasoline engine drives the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission, whereas the electric motor sends power to the front wheels through a two-speed automatic transmission.
