2015 Jeep Patriot Review

The 2015 Jeep Patriot has been surprisingly consistent in its production, but despite its continued presence in the market, it is no secret that it is being unable to perform according to expectations of an ever-competitive market.

The 2015 Jeep Patriot has been surprisingly consistent in its production, but despite its continued presence in the market, it is no secret that it is being unable to perform according to expectations of an ever-competitive market. The Jeep Patriot is known to offer agile handling and a composed ride to its passengers, as a result of which it has continued to find loyalty amongst customers.

Pricing and Features
8.0/10

The 2015 Jeep Patriot is a 5 passenger compact crossover SUV that is offered in three trims, namely Sport, Latitude, and Limited. Most of these trims feature common standard features, but as one goes higher up the trims, the features improve and so does the performance of the car. The pricing of this crossover falls between $16,895 for the base trim and $18,200 for the high-end Limited trim.

We Recommend

The Latitude trim is the most practical and functional trim in the Jeep Patriot line-up. It offers not only the most basic features as standard, but it also includes premium quality materials for its interior, and it is relatively cheaper than the higher Limited trim. Moreover, falling in between the two trims, the trim provides the best value for money.

Engine and Performance
5.4/10

The 2015 Jeep Patriot is offered with a 2.0L Inline-4 engine that is responsible for providing a power output of 158 hp and a torque of 141 lb-ft. The engine of this SUV fails to deliver strong performance, and its users are often let down by its unrefined handling and below sub-par ride quality.

The 2015 Jeep Patriot comes with a front-wheel-drive drivetrain that is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Despite providing a good grip, the transmission has been criticized for slowing down the engine, leading to a slowed and less engaging response in the acceleration. The 2015 Jeep Patriot sprints from 0-60 MPH in 8.7 seconds and reaches its quarter-mile in 16.4 seconds.

From the data, it is evident that the Ford Escape has a relatively more powerful engine than its rivals. It offers the maximum power and torque. However, the Ford Escape is relatively slower than its rivals. The Jeep Patriot comes second in terms of its engine performance, and it provides the fastest acceleration, whereas the Kia Soul is the least powerful model, and it is also the slowest one.

Fuel Economy
9.0/10

The 2015 Jeep Patriot is considered to provide adequate fuel economy that is on par with most of the subcompact cars. The Jeep Patriot has a fuel capacity of 13.6 gallons that is used to run a decent mileage, in the sense that it offers 23 MPG within city limits, 30 MPG on the highways, and a combined mileage of 26 MPG.

It is evident that despite having almost similar mileage, it is the Jeep Patriot that seems to offer the least range. On the flip side, the Kia Soul has the maximum amount of fuel capacity and provides a good range. The Ford Escape wins this segment for offering the best range in the segment.

Interior
6.1/10

The interior of the Jeep Patriot doesn’t base its design on style and attractiveness, rather it focuses on the practicality and functionality of the interior. The cabin seems spacious and is filled with all the standard technologies as one would expect from an SUV. The cabin is made up of cloth and refined plastic, which looks simple and dull. There is nothing to fancy about the interior or the cabin of this Jeep Patriot.

The Jeep Patriot moreover includes cloth upholstery. However, it can easily accommodate 5 passengers with maximum comfort. The design of the cabin makes sense here as it attempts to offer the maximum comfortable space that is evenly distributed to each passenger adequately. The 2015 Jeep Patriot offers a cargo capacity of 23.0 cubic feet.

From the data, it becomes evident that the Jeep Patriot offers the maximum interior space for a comfortable ride. However, it provides the least cargo capacity along with Ford Escape. The Ford Escape comes second in overall space for seating, whereas the Kia Soul offers the minimum interior space, and its rear seats feel cramped, but it provides the maximum cargo space. The main interior features of the 2015 Jeep Patriot include:

  • Audio And Cruise Controls On Steering Wheel
  • Leather Steering Wheel
  • Front And Rear Door Pockets
  • Electric Power Steering
  • Rear View Camera
  • Dual Illuminating Vanity Mirrors

How intuitive is the infotainment system?

The 2015 Jeep Patriot comes equipped with the Uconnect infotainment system. It comes with a 5.0-inch touchscreen display and a four-speaker audio system. The interface of the Jeep Patriot is decent, but it is nothing interesting or exciting.

The features included are quite outdated and simple. The graphics are plain, and it is evident that the engineering of this segment was particularly lazy and overlooked. The main infotainment features of the 2015 Jeep Patriot include:

  • AM/FM
  • Auxiliary Audio Input
  • USB Ports
  • Bluetooth
  • Navigation
  • Wireless Charging

Exterior
7.0/10

When it comes to the exteriors, it has been observed that the exterior of the 2015 Jeep Patriot neatly split the difference between aggressive and approachable while keeping the undeniable essence of the Jeep lines intact.

The design of the 2015 Jeep Patriot resembles most closely the designs and styles of the traditional Jeep. At the front, a traditional seven-slot vertical Jeep grille is flanked by large round headlights. Overall, the size of the Patriot along with its dimensions makes it appear brutish yet uptight.

From the data, it is evident that the Ford Escape is the biggest model in this segment and is also the heaviest car in the segment. The Jeep Patriot comes second and has a maximum ground clearance of 8.1 inches. It is also moderately weighed to be in sync with its dimensions. The Kia Soul Wagon is the smallest model in this segment, and it is also the lightest one. The main exterior features of the 2015 Jeep Patriot include:

  • 16.0-inch Alloy Wheels
  • Roof Panels
  • Full-Size Spare Spare Tire W/Matching Wheel
  • LED Headlights
  • Black Painted Roof
  • Hood Decal

Safety
7.8/10

With regards to safety features of the 2015 Jeep Patriot, there seems to be a visible discrepancy between the NHTSA and the IIHS. While the NHTSA is not impressed with the safety features of this Jeep and has given it an approval rating of 3-stars out of 5 stars, the IIHS seems to be impressed by the effectiveness of the safety features of the 2015 Jeep Patriot and has given it an overall certification of “Good”.

Regardless of its safety scores, the 2015 Jeep Patriot includes a plethora of both active and passive safety features to mitigate any damage caused by an inconvenience. These features include a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and so on. The main safety features of the 2015 Jeep Patriot include:

  • Engine Immobilizer
  • Post-Collision Safety System
  • Stability Control
  • Traction Control
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring

Final Verdict

There is no doubt that there was a time when the Jeep Patriot was one of the most well-rounded SUVs in the market, but with the 2015 Jeep Patriot, that time seemingly seems to have gone by, and it is time we let the Jeep Patriot retire in peace without tarnishing its image any further.
