Overview

The Toyota Avalon is a full-size sedan from the Japanese automobile icon and is quite a successful one too. It was introduced back in 1994 and is in its fourth generation model now.

Pricing and Features
8.0/10

The Toyota Avalon is offered in five trim levels along with a standard engine option and a standard FWD drivetrain layout. The trim level starts from the base XLE which is priced at $32,285 and offers a handful of generous features such as automatic headlights, heated mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, full power accessories, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, leather upholstery, and an eight-way power driver seat. Stepping up to the XLE Premium adds upgraded keyless ignition and entry, a power sunroof, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The XLE Touring introduces Toyota’s premium Entune audio system with navigation and app suite. The XLE Touring SE is not much of an upgrade and only adds perforated leather upholstery, xenon headlights, and black painted alloy wheels. The range-topping Limited trim adds some truly premium features such as ambient cabin lighting, automatic wipers, tri-zone automatic climate control, a 10-way power adjustable driver seat, and an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat.

Engine and Performance
7.9/10

The Toyota Avalon is powered by a standard 2GR-FE V6 motor and it is tuned to push out a maximum of 268 horsepower and 248lb-ft of torque. The engine is quite powerful for the sedan and has a lively performance as compared to some of its rivals in the segment. The motor is quite refined and gives out a pleasing engine note when you floor the gas.

There is a negligible lag in performance and the motor responds to each and every slight throttle inputs, making it quite agile in the city traffic with agile handling and responsive steering. The motor propels the sedan to 60mph from a standstill within 6.4 seconds, a commendable time for the segment. The six-speed automatic transmission is decent and shifts gears smoothly.

Interior
7.7/10

The Avalon’s interior is quite impressive and elegant. The cabin is laid out with premium high-quality materials throughout and there are ample soft-touch materials on most of the exposed surfaces. The front seats offer superb comfort levels with more than adequate bolstering and lumbar support.

The controls are placed intelligently and are well within the reach of the driver while driving. The rear seats offer superb comfort levels too with excellent headroom and legroom on offer. There are adequate storage cubbies all over the cabin and they provide enough storage spaces too. The ambient lighting on the higher trims changes the overall appeal of the cabin at night, giving a premium touch inside.
