About 2015 Toyota Corolla

3.9

Overall Rating

The 2015 Toyota Corolla remains largely unchanged this year apart from the addition of a folding rear-seat armrest. It is available for sale in 10 different trim configurations and has a price starting at $17,785. All the plus trims now also get the Convenience package as standard and the interior remains the same this year.

The 2015 Toyota Corolla comes majorly unchanged from the 2014 model year except for the fold-down rear seat armrest. Its 10-trim lineup of L, LE, S, S Plus, LE Plus, LE Premium, S Premium, LE Eco, LE Eco Plus, and LE Eco Premium is exceptionally diversified having priced at a base expense of $17,785. And its 132 hp and 140 hp 1.8L I-4 engines on offer further expand the dimension of economical drives.

With a peak mileage of almost 42 MPG, the Toyota Corolla stands apart from the crowd in its budget-friendly stance. In addition to that, it has been bestowed with a cargo capacity of 13 cu-ft along with a decent interior cabin spaciousness.

All such statures bring it for sale that's in rivalry against the value propositions of Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, and Mazda 3 sedan.

We recommend buying the LE Eco trim. The trim has adequate performance for a daily driver and helps give better fuel economy and comes with many comfort features for you to enjoy. There are also the features from the previous trims like 6” touchscreen and automatic climate control which are also available.

2015 Toyota Corolla Review

Pros

  • Ride quality
  • Fuel efficient variant
  • comfortable rear seating

Cons

  • Underwhelming acceleration

The 2015 Toyota Corolla remains largely unchanged this year apart from the addition of a folding rear-seat armrest. It is available for sale in 10 different trim configurations and has a price starting at $17,785. All the plus trims now also get the Convenience package as standard and the interior remains the same this year.

Overview

The 2015 Toyota Corolla comes majorly unchanged from the 2014 model year except for the fold-down rear seat armrest. Its 10-trim lineup of L, LE, S, S Plus, LE Plus, LE Premium, S Premium, LE Eco, LE Eco Plus, and LE Eco Premium is exceptionally diversified having priced at a base expense of $17,785. Pricing and Features
7.0/10

The 2015 Toyota Corolla comes in four trim levels - L, LE, LE Eco, and S. That said, every trim also gets a Plus option which now features the Convenience package as standard. There is a specially tuned version of the same base - 1.8 liter inline-4 for the LE Eco which is focused on giving better MPG figures and in-turn range.

9.0/10

The 2015 Toyota Corolla offers 28 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 31 mpg combined. Toyota installed a fuel tank of 13.2 gallons, allowing it to have a range of 370 miles in the city, 488 miles on the highway, and 409 miles of combined range. These are when the corolla comes equipped with a manual transmission.

When the corolla comes with a 4-speed automatic, the corolla still offers a combined mpg of 31. The CVT transmission equipped Corolla increases the mpg marginally to an overall 32 mpg. The LE Eco Corolla offers the most with 35 mpg combined. The range of the sedan will increase accordingly.

Interior
7.6/10

The interior of the 2015 Toyota Corolla is much more stylish than the previous versions. The Corolla has the space to seat 5 occupants on the inside. The base Toyota Corolla comes with the basics, and the driver’s seat is height adjustable and the interior upholstery is fabric. As you go higher in the trims, the models get cloth upholstery with premium vinyl upholstery.

The seat gets upgraded too with a power driver seat and even heated front seats. The S trim adds sport front seats, a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel with paddle shifters. Other interior features include air conditioning and even automatic air conditioning in the LE and higher trims. The Toyota Corolla comes with a cargo capacity of 13 cu.ft. and can be expanded with the help of rear seats folded down.

Exterior

The current version of the 2016 Toyota Corolla is described by Toyota as more athletic. The car is three inches longer than the previous generation and has a sportier stance too, this is because Toyota says the wheels are farther out near the corners of the car.

Speaking of wheels, the base Corolla features 15-inch steel wheels, and there are even 16-inch wheels available, but the S trim gets unique wheel covers for the same trims. There are 17-inch alloy wheels for the S trim. Toyota offers the 2016 Corolla for sale in 7 paint color options.

The Toyota Corolla is similar to the dimensions of the other cars, it is marginally longer than the others. The difference does come in the form of curb weight, where the Chevrolet Cruze is the heaviest of the above cars and the Toyota Corolla is more than 200 pounds lighter than it. Few key features include-

  • 15” steel wheels
  • Available 16” steel wheels
  • 17” alloy wheels for the S trim
  • Available Sunroof

The NHTSA has given the Toyota Corolla an overall 5-star safety rating out of a possible 5-stars. The IIHS has also given it “Good” in most tests with two “marginal” scores, and it has not been awarded a top safety pick award as well. However, Toyota installed many safety features as standard in the Corolla. Some of the safety features are:

  • Electronic stability control
  • ABS and driveline traction control
  • Side Impact beams
  • Multiple airbag systems
  • Low tire pressure warning system
  • Back-up camera

2015 Toyota Corolla vs 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

While the Chevy Cruze gets a lower price tag, the Corolla is quicker off the mark and returns higher MPG figures. The interior is more spacious inside the cabin of the Corolla, especially the rear seat, but Cruze offers a larger trunk. Cruze on the other hand offers more features as standard and has a more appealing design. The higher reliability ratings and low ownership costs make the 2016 Corolla the preferred choice.

2015 Toyota Corolla vs 2015 Honda Civic

The Honda Civic has more grunt under its hood, but it is slower than the Corolla. That said, the Civic is more entertaining to drive and offers similar fuel economy ratings as the Toyota. While both brands have a similar reliability history and low costs of running, the recently redesigned Corolla is more spacious and has more creature comforts to offer, and should be the pick here.

2015 Toyota Corolla vs 2015 Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai offers a great value for budget car buyers by offering plenty of standard features, decent performance, great fuel efficiency, and a pretty large trunk at an affordable price tag. While the Corolla 2016 is more spacious at the back seat, the higher number of technology offered by Hyundai makes it the one to go for between the two.

Final Verdict

The 2015 Toyota Corolla is an affordable compact sedan and comes with a good engine and a more economical version of the same engine. The interior is spacious and functional, also, passengers will still be able to get a good amount of comfort thanks to the optional extras it has. The technology is good and comes with a good safety rating. Together, the 2015 Toyota Corolla is a decent pick in the segment full of popular brands.
