The BMW 4 Series coupe is designed to appeal to the enthusiasts out there with its heavily driver-centric interior design and its sporty instincts. It was launched in 2014 but quickly garnered enough attention owing to its brilliant design and performance on offer.
The BMW 4 Series coupe is designed to appeal to the enthusiasts out there with its heavily driver-centric interior design and its sporty instincts. It was launched in 2014 but quickly garnered enough attention owing to its brilliant design and performance on offer. For the 2016 model year, the coupe is powered by a basic turbocharged 2.0liter I-4 motor and a bigger 3.0liter turbocharged I-6 motor for the higher trims.
We would recommend you to go for the 428i trim since it offers a generous amount of features and a good performance. But if you seek more performance and are willing to spend more for it, then you can opt for the 435i trim.

The BMW 4 Series coupe is powered by two engine options, a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 and a 3.0-liter turbocharged I-6 with higher power figures. We’ll take a look into the I-4 motor that is offered in the entry-level 428i coupe.
The motor generatwes a maximum of 240 horsepower and 255lb-ft of torque. The power figures are more than adequate for a coupe and it propels the 428i to 60mph from a standstill within 5.4 seconds flat! Within the urban jungle though, the motor behaves itself and can drive around in a relaxed manner as well as in the highway, it can retain its composure. The moment you demand more perofrmance from it, it just drops a couple of gears and shoots ahead with full confidence. The slick-shifting 6-speed manual transmission works like a charm and is a pure enthusiast’s delight.

The Audi TT is a commendable offering in the segment and is as sporty as the BMW 428i. Furthermore, it comes with Audi’s fantastic Quattro system as standard that further enhances its performance. The Cadillac ATS coupe is a true blue American sports coupe and offers a way better power output and performance figures than the German duo.
Performance-oriented vehicles are not meant to deliver excellent fuel economy ratings but with all ther modern technologies and efficient engines, one can have a decent enough fuel economy alongside a strong performance too. The BMW 428i returns a respectable 22mpg in the urban limits while out on the highways, it returns a rather impressive 34mpg. The Combined mileage is rated at 27mpg.

The Audi TT coupe has a slightly better city mileage than the Beemer but falls short by 4mpg in terms of highway mileage. The combined output is almost identical though at 26mpg. The Cadillac ATS impresses the most with its excellent fuel economy rating despite being the most powerful coupe on the list.
The interior of the 428i is heavily based on the 3 Series with the same elegant yet understated design and analog gauges. The lower seating position indices a sporty vibe to match with its performance and the front seats are excellent in terms of support and adjustments.Â
The power-adjustable side bolsters are a delight to use and comes in extremely handy during some spirited driving sessions. The sloping roofline at the rear limits the headroom yet leaves enough room for average-sized adults. The overall quality and fit 7 finish levels are praiseworthy as it is expected from a premium German coupe.

The Audi TT is the most compact coupe among the rivals on the list and has enough room for just two people. The rear seats of the TT are practically unusable barring its utility as a luggage storage. The Cadillac ATS coupe also offers quite similar interior dimensions as the beemer but the latter’s rear seats are the most spacious one among the rivals here.
The infotainment system of any BMW vehicle is quite intuitive and useful owing to the brand’s iDrive system integration. If you opt for the navigation system, the 6.5-inch display comes integrated with the iDrive system in the 428i coupe.
The system can be controlled via the touch-sensitive controller placed on the center stack and allows some interesting usability such as handwriting gestures for entering addresses using nothing but your fingertips. It also comes with real-time traffic data, and can be coupled with a data subscription adding Google search capability.
Highlighted features of the infotainment system are:
The BMW 428i looks undoubtedly handsome and elegant but it isn’t a head-turner from any angle. Since it is based on the 3 Series, its design remains heavily understated and looks like any other ordinary Bimmer on the road.
The front-end remains simple yet subtle with bigger air dams and narrow headlamps with LED accents. The rear-end looks more attractive with the new tail lamp design, otherwise the design is neat and uncluttered.

The Audi TT is the most compact vehicle on the list and it looks more like a smaller sibling of the R8. It also has the lowest ground clearance making it challenging to drive in uneven tarmacs. The Cadillac ATS has an extremely appealing design and the exterior dimensions are almost identical to the BMW 428i.
The safety department of any German vehicle has always been quite strong and the BMW 428i follows the same path as well. The coupe hasn’t been rated by the NHTSA or the IIHS so there are no crash ratings for the coupe yet. That being said, the car does come with several safety aids such as a full suite of airbags, stability control, adaptive brake lights, and anti-lock brakes.
The Automatic Collision Notification system relays important information to emergency responders. Some optional safety features include park-distance system, plus a surround-view camera system that has a top view and a bird's-eye view of obstacles approaching at low speeds.
Some highlighted safety features of the coupe are:
The 2016 BMW 4 Series coupe poses as a perfect all rounder if you’re looking for a comfortable convertible with oodles of interior features and a strong performance. The car also impresses with its excellent fuel economy too without compromising on the performance aspect.
