The Lexus IS 350 is the most powerful sean in the entire IS lineup and comes with the most powerful engine among the lineup as well. The sedan is offered in two drivetrain layouts and offers a myriad of luxury features as well as convenience features. The price for the FWD layout starts at $40,870 and the AWD version costs $43,035. There are several packages available to further enhance the sedan in terms of both interior and exterior as well. Some of the interior packages include Premium Package, Premium Plus Package, and the Navigation Package. 

The exterior package includes the F Sport package that adds a full-mesh treatment for the grille, a revised front bumper, LED headlights, widened 18-inch wheels with summer or all-season tires, a sport-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers, upgraded brake pads, heated and ventilated front sport seats with enhanced bolstering, a black headliner, perforated leather trim and a special sport-oriented gauge cluster.

The Lexus IS 350 is powered by a naturally aspirated V6 found on the lower models of the IS sedans but comes in a high state of tune. The motor generates a maximum of 306 horsepower and 277lb-ft of torque. The engine has excellent refinement levels and offers punchy performance. The sedan can complete the 0-60mph run within 5.9 seconds, an impressive time for a luxury sedan. 

A manual-transmission would’ve been a sweeter deal but the 6-speed automatic unit isn’t bad either. It tackles the gear shifts smoothly and keeps the engine relaxed under normal driving conditions. Under hard acceleration, the engine maintains its composure and doesn’t get too vocal. Both city and highway drives feel equally engaging with the agile handling and a precise steering setup.

The Infiniti Q50 is also a gem of a sedan and offers a slightly better punch than the IS 350 in terms of torque output. It also comes with agile handling and smooth ride quality. The Cadillac XTS is a humble yet powerful sedan among the three with competitive power figures and performance on offer.

Despite being the most powerful sedan in the IS lineup, the IS 350 returns just about the same fuel economy figures as the less powerful IS 300 sedan. The IS 350 returns a maximum of 19mpg of city mileage and a decent 28mpg of highway mileage. The combined mileage is rated at 22mpg.

The Infiniti Q50 has almost similar fuel economy ratings as the IS 350 but has a bigger gas tank, offering a better overall driving range. The Cadillac XTS is less fuel-efficient than both the IS 350 and the XTS sedan although marginally but has a better driving range than the IS 300 owing to its sizable 10gallon gas tank.

The Lexus IS 350 has one of the best interiors among its class. The cabin has been carefully crafted with excellent attention to detail and premium quality materials are used throughout the cabin. The front seats are extremely comfortable and provide excellent support at all driving conditions while the rear seats are capable enough to accommodate two adults with commendable comfort owing to the nice outboard seats and oodles of legroom. 

The dashboard design looks eye-catching with a rich design and the rakishly placed center stack enhances the sense of spaciousness. The buttons and controls are nice to touch and feel since they are made out of premium materials. 

The Infiniti Q50 also comes with a luxurious cabin with a long list of features, giving a tough competition to the IS 350. It has a slightly better headroom for the front passengers and similar dimensions for the rear passengers as well. The Cadillac XTS is also not being even by an inch in terms of interior dimensions and its cabin is as premium and luxe as the IS 350 and the Q50 sedan.

Infotainment

The infotainment system of the Lexus IS 350 comes with adequate features to keep the occupants of the vehicle entertained throughout the journey. The system comes with an 8.0-inch color display with a centrally mounted control dial. The standard features of the infotainment system include Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, voice command functionality, Siri Eyes Free, and an eight-speaker sound system with a CD player, HD radio, satellite radio, and dual USB ports. 

The available Navigation Package swaps out the standard infotainment control dial with Lexus' Remote Touch mouse-type controller, further adding a navigation system, a rearview camera, enhanced Bluetooth connectivity feature, and the smartphone-based Enform App Suite which offers some excellent features such as Bing, Yelp, Pandora, and other useful Internet services.

The exterior design of the Lexus IS 350 perfectly combines an executive sedan design and a sports car design, making the IS 350 look quite unconventional. Lexus’ spindle front grille might be an excessively flashy design for some buyers but the overall design comes with adequate sharpness.

The grille is flanked by a pair of angular-shaped headlights along with some stylish lines rising from the front fascia and continuing towards the rear with grace. The LED DRLs at the front are fitted separately below the headlights rather than being integrated, and the sharp wrap-around taillights give the rear-end a sporty look as well.

The Infiniti Q50 comes with a more smooth and eye-soothing design language as compared to the IS 350 and is slightly longer than the latter as well. The Cadillac XTS looks unmistakably like a Caddy with its muscular design and a bold mixture of a sharp yet streamlined exterior design.

Since Lexus is under Toyota's wing, the safety aspect of the IS 350 is bound to be excellent and the sedan lives up to reputation extremely well. The car bagged a 5-star rating from the NHTSA and the best possible “Good” rating from the IIHS further establishing its overall safety quotient. The standard safety features of the sedan feature antilock disc brakes with brake assist, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags, front knee airbags, side curtain airbags, and rear-seat side airbags. 

Lexus Enform Safety Connect is also standard and further includes automatic collision notification, a stolen-vehicle locator, an emergency assist button, and roadside assistance. Some of the add-on safety features include a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a lane-departure warning system.
