There are a considerable amount of add-on features and options packages available to customize the RC F as per personal taste, and the new optional orange brake calipers should be definitely opted for considering it matches almost all the paint schemes. Since the coupe is available in a single trim, we would recommend the same.

Lexus has not gone for forced induction, and the RC F gets a large 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine under its hood, which is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The engine produces a whopping 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque, all of which is sent to the rear wheels only, making it pretty easy to be driven sideways. The performance is pretty strong, getting to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds from standstill, while the quarter-mile drag run is done in a brisk 12.7 seconds. 

The BMW M4 is the priciest one in this comparison but gets the best performance out of its signature inline-6 motor, recording the fastest times amongst the cars present here. The Cadillac ATS-V coupe is evenly priced as that of the RC F and also has identical 0-60 sprint timings, but it edges just ahead of the RC F on the quarter-mile drag strip. When it comes to top speed, again M4 is the fastest at165 mph.

The large V8 engines aren’t really known for their frugality, and the one on the RC F does not try to be one either. The EPA rates the 2016 RC F for 16 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, while the combined city and highway driving is rated for 19 mpg. The large 17.4-gallon gas tank offers a great advantage by offering an extended driving range on a single tank of gas at 331 miles combined. 

The Cadillac and the Lexus have an almost identical fuel economy figure, while the BMW M4 is marginally more efficient, consuming less fuel than the other two. Both M4 and the ATS-V have a similarly sized gas tank, which is a tad smaller than the RC F, and hence have a shorter driving range as compared to the RC F.

The RC F has a dramatically styled interior with a vibrant color scheme and employs only high-quality materials everywhere the eye can see.

The fit and finish is pretty remarkable too, and there are dollops of leather-clad cushioning everywhere our hands and legs seem to touch or rest on. The seats are really supportive and offer great comfort, and although the front seat has a great amount of space to offer, the rear seat is extremely cramped and is best suited for young kids or for carrying additional luggage. 

The RC F has the best legroom on offer at the front, but the seats aren’t as wide and the roof is pretty low too, which could be a concern for the taller and larger sized individuals. The ATS-V coupe too lacks headroom but has a more forgiving rear seat with the front seat legroom being compromised a bit. The M4, on the other hand, offers the best balance of front and rear seat space, has a good amount of headroom, and a marginally larger trunk on offer as well. Major interior features include-

How is the 2016 Lexus RC F Coupe’s infotainment system?

The touchpad controller of the infotainment system, which is the primary controller for operating the system is the biggest flaw inside the cabin of the RC F. Although the display is pretty sharp, the interface could get a better color scheme. The controller is jerky to use, which makes using it on the move really difficult. One can use the redundant buttons placed on the dashboard but it still lacks useful functionality like a dedicated navigation button. Few key infotainment features include-

The radical design is carried forward on the exterior as well, as there is a large mesh grille upfront which is flanked by a small but sharp and angular headlamp setup.

There are loads of air channels and curves and creases on the body, which add to the sharp styling of the car. The available options do add a lot more flair to the exterior of the car.

Though all the three cars are similar in terms of dimensions, the varying levels of wheelbase on offer indicate the space they open up inside the cabin. The M4 has the longest wheelbase, is the lightest, and also has a low slung stance as well. The RC F on the other hand is the heaviest due to the heavy V8 but offers a much higher ground clearance. The Lexus RC F is a sporty two-door rear wheel drive luxury coupe that has a pretty high MSRP, and hence it does not make sense to get them crash tested. Add to that lower price tag of the car, and if you are a V8 engine fanboy, the RC F could not be a more appropriate offering for you.
