Overview

The 2016 Nissan 370Z Coupe is an agile and athletic car that primarily focuses on handling and performance over comfort and cruising. Despite being a carryover model Nissan has managed to revamp certain features to improve the performance of this coupe. The 370Z houses an upscale cabin and it is best described to be an all and about sports car.

Pricing and Features
9.0/10

The 2016 Nissan 370Z Coupe is a part of the Z line-up introduced by the brand and it is available as a 2-seater coupe that is offered in six trim levels, namely: base, Touring, Sport, Sport Tech, Nismo, and Nismo Tech trim levels. The difference in the trims relates to the differences in prices and as one moves up the trim level, the quality of features improves.

We Recommend

It would be wise to opt for the Nismo trim as it includes a combination of the features available in the Sport and Touring trims that makes it a more enjoyable and efficient trim for the customers. Additionally, it offers a wide range of advanced features as standard that is not the case with the base trim.

Engine and Performance
7.9/10

The 2016 Nissan 370Z is offered with a 3.7L V6 engine that facilitates the power output of 332 hp and provides a torque of 270 lb-ft. The engine is specifically designed for people who are driving enthusiasts. The ride is pretty comfortable but it often feels stiff especially with the sports tuned suspension. However, overall the quality of ride u=it produces is lively and thrilling.

The 2016 Nissan 370Z comes with a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine moreover offers a refined acceleration that helps the car to gain a professional race-car like acceleration. The 2016 Nissan 370Z Coupe sprints from 0-60MPH in 5.2 seconds and reaches its quarter-mile in 13.7 seconds.

From the data, it is evident that all the models included in this segment offer a decent power output and are quite powerful in terms of the engine that comes with it but the Nissan 370Z surpasses its competitors both in terms of power output and torque. The BMW 2 Series comes second and it is the fastest car in the segment. The Chevrolet Camaro comes last and it is also the slowest model in the segment.

Interior
6.1/10

The interior of the 2016 Nissan 370Z Coupe is undoubtedly luxurious and classy in nature. The interior is based on the ergonomics that exudes the sharpness of a sports car. The cabin embraces functionality over style even though the style is inherent in the typical Japanese design. However, on the flip side, the cabin lacks certain basic features that otherwise had the potential of being a class interior.

The materials used in the cabin are of refined and upscale quality that feel smooth to touch and feel. The cabin is primarily built up of leather surfaces and leather paddings. It also includes a leather upholstery. In terms of seating, the Nissan 370Z can easily accommodate two occupants. The seating space is adequately spacious for each of the passengers but is not comfortable enough for a long journey. Practically, the 2016 Nissan 370Z Coupe provides a cargo space of 6.9 cubic feet.

With incomplete data, it becomes difficult to determine the spaciousness of the interiors and cabins of the cars under assessment in this segment. However, from the data we have, it is assumed that the Nissan 370Z offers a more roomy interior but it can only accommodate 2 passengers. The BMW 2 Series offers the maximum cargo capacity. The Chevrolet Camaro offers the least cargo space. The main interior features of the 2016 Nissan 370Z Coupe include:

  • Leather Upholstery
  • Leather Steering Wheel
  • Electric Power Steering
  • Dual Vanity Mirrors
  • Keyless Ignition
  • Interior Air Filtration

How intuitive is the infotainment system?

The 2016 Nissan 370Z Coupe comes along with a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen display that hosts a majority of its features. Most of the essential infotainment features required to make the ride entertaining for the occupants come as standard.

The features included are quite intuitive and easily accessible. However, on the flipside, the base model of this Nissan fails to include Bluetooth Connectivity and USB Ports to its customers as a result of which, the infotainment system fails to impress the masses. The main infotainment features of the 2016 Nissan 370Z Coupe include:

  • CD Player
  • Navigation
  • Satellite Radio
  • 6 Speaker Sound System
  • Smartphone Integration
  • Voice control

Competition
9.0/10

2016 Nissan 370Z vs Dodge Challenger

The Dodge Challenger has few advantages over the base trim Nissan 370Z. You can buy the former with a V8 engine, while there is no option for a larger engine on the Nissan. The jump to V8 makes the Dodge more expensive and less economical to run though, which will definitely hurt your bank balance. The Dodge Challenger is a 5 seater muscle car, which adds a few practicality points.

The V6 trim of the Challenger is around 3 grand cheaper than the base trim of 370Z Coupe and also comes with an 8 speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. However, the design of the Dodge Challenger is pretty outdated. The fuel capacity of the Dodge Challenger is lower than that of the 370Z. Nonetheless, this car is extremely spacious and provides lots of space for storing cargo, winning factor for a daily driver.

2016 Nissan 370Z vs Hyundai Genesis

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a frontrunner in the race of budget sports car, with a starting price of $26,950. Unlike the Dodge Challenger, the Hyundai Genesis looks great, sports a good quality interior and houses a high-performance engine.

The Genesis is a two-seater dynamic sports car that gives very tough competition to the 370Z Coupe. Also, the Hyundai has somewhat-usable rear seats, which make it a more practical option as well.

2016 Nissan 370Z vs Ford Mustang EcoBoost

The EcoBoost Mustang is one of the biggest tricks Ford has ever pulled out of its bag. It has the performance and the road-presence of a muscle car, and yet it has great MPG numbers, great handling, and most of all, a very affordable MSRP.

The 370Z, despite being an extremely capable budget-friendly Sportscar with slightly more performance, still feels a bit too tame compared to the Mustang.

2016 Nissan 370Z vs Subaru BRZ

The Subaru BRZ is probably the only other purpose-built sportscar here, just like the 370Z Coupe. For a budget-friendly sportscar with low power output and performance, Subaru BRZ manages to be a surprisingly great package. The athletic handling of Subaru BRZ is bound to charm every car lover.
