The 2016 Tesla Model X Electric SUV comes in three trims, namely, the 75D with a 75-kWh battery pack, 90D with the highest EPA-rated range of 257 miles from a larger 90-kWh battery, and the P90D performance model. Prices of the 2016 Model X ranges from $85,500 to $115,500. The trims are offered with almost similar features, but the only difference relates to the differences in their range and speed. 

Tesla offers every Model X with a large panoramic windshield - claimed to be the largest on any production car. Standard features include the enticing double-hinged rear falcon doors, the 17-inch color touchscreen display with full 4G internet access, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The Model X scores high for the in-car technology and safety features.

Even though the Tesla Model X comes in three very interesting trims, it is better to stick with the base trim. Priced at an MSRP of $85,500, the Model X 75D offers all the essential features while providing a decent acceleration and range for daily use. Available with six-, and seven-passenger configurations, the SUV offers comfortable seating for the whole family.

The 2016 Tesla Model X SUV comes equipped with two Electric direct-drive motors, with the 75D getting an EPA-rated at a range of 238 miles. Tesla claims 0 to 60 mph acceleration time to be 6 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph. Opting for a bigger 90-kWh battery pack, the Model X 90D's acceleration time reduces to 4.8 seconds, with a top speed rising to 155 mph.

This version has the highest range among any Model X, at 257 miles, and has 518 total horsepower. The top-of-the-line P90D performance model has an output of 762 hp (259 hp front, 503 hp rear) and offers 250 miles of range and the 0-to-60-mph time falls to 3.2 seconds. 

From the table, it is evident that the Tesla Model X offers a decent power output in its base form when compared to its rivals but offers the maximum torque owing to its dual-motor configuration. In addition, the Model X also impresses with its smooth and swift acceleration which is best in the segment. The Porsche Cayenne SE provides the maximum power output and it is also quite fast but it is the Volvo XC90 that disappoints with its acceleration and power ratings.

The Tesla Model X gets the EPA rated efficiency of 93, 92, and 89 MPGe for the 75D, 90D, and P90D versions respectively. For the respective Model X versions, the battery range ratings are 238, 257, and 250 miles. For a full-size SUV with such a heavyweight, the Model X is remarkably economical. It has also been speculated that the 2016 Tesla Model X will be of remarkable use of energy and once charged, it will provide double the mileage that is expected from a gasoline engine. 

In its base form, the Tesla Model X delivers a decent driving range and it is quite acceptable considering the fact that it is an EV. The Volvo XC90 hybrid offers a decent overall driving range of 350 miles and respectable mpg ratings given its luxury SUV status. Tesla cars are easily distinguishable, and the 2016 Tesla Model X Electric SUV is quite innovative in its styling but the exterior fails to look graceful and elegant in comparison to how it was intended to look. The 2016 Tesla Model X has no slab sides, no vertical tailgate, but instead, it features a tall hatchback shape with a canted rear window in the tailgate and a body that narrows considerably toward the roof above the base of the windows. This styling makes the model look awkward.

The 2016 Tesla Model X Electric SUV is a unique, all-electric SUV, which provides an exhilarating acceleration and an impressive performance. Additionally, its interior is quite flexible and is going to accommodate its occupants quite comfortably. But on the flip side, the 2016 Tesla Model X might not be in accordance with everyone’s taste and therefore it might need a few more years to establish itself as the future of cars.
