About 2017 Lamborghini Huracan

3.4

Overall Rating

The Huracan Coupe will blow your mind once you are inside it. Screaming exhaust, exotic Italian exteriors, and cockpit-like interiors will surely tempt you to be in the car as long as possible. Its outstanding handling and a superfast mid-engine setup are to die for.

The Italian speedster Lamborghini Huracan has been raging and burning the roads of the USA since 2014. For Lamborghini, the Huracan is the successor of Gallardo and is performing well up to the company's expectations. The 2017 model of the Huracan has its place in the first generation of the Huracan line-up and offers a new rear-wheel drivetrain configuration.

Supplying the power to the blazing beast is a 5.2 L V10 engine, which produces either 580 hp or 610hp of power depending upon its tuning. The powerful engine is mated to a 7-speed automated manual transmission system to bring the best out of the Huracan.

For entry-level buyers, the Huracan LP 580-2 trim is suitable as its rear-wheel-drive makes it a little less powerful than the trims with AWD. Moreover, if we consider the price difference, the LP 580-2 is $37,000 cheaper than the LP 610. However, to get the best out of the Huracan, the upper trims are recommended.

Cons

  • Hefty price tag
  • Less cargo space

Overview

Pricing and Features
8.0/10

The 2017 Lamborghini Huracan Coupe has three variants, namely the LP 580-2, LP-610, and LP 610-4 Avio. Reviewing the MSRP, the low-end LP 580-2 comes at $199,800, while it increases significantly to $236,800 for the upper LP 610 trim. Moreover, the fully-loaded trim LP 610-4 Avio has a price tag of $245,500.

The Huracan LP 580-2 is the only trim to have in the RWD drivetrain. Some of the key highlights of the LP 580-2 include steel brakes and 19-inch wheels. Coming to the LP 610 variant, employs the same V10 engine present in the base trim but the engine is tuned differently to produce extra power and torque. Carbon ceramic brakes along with 20-inch wheels come as standard in the LP 610. The most expensive Huracan trim, LP 610-4 Avio is different from the 610 in the way that it gets an aircraft-inspired cockpit and LP 610's optional features as standard.

We Recommend

For entry-level buyers, the Huracan LP 580-2 trim is suitable as its rear-wheel-drive makes it a little less powerful than the trims with AWD. Moreover, if we consider the price difference, the LP 580-2 is $37,000 cheaper than the LP 610. However, to get the best out of the Huracan, the upper trims are recommended.

Engine and Performance
5.6/10

Acting as the reactor core of the 2017 Lamborghini Huracan is a 5.2-Liter 10-cylinder 40-valves DOHC engine that churns out a maximum power of 580 hp and torque of 398 lbs.-ft. However, the engine power and torque increase to 610 hp and 412 lbs.-ft. respectively for the AWD models. Moreover, the engine gets paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission, which allows the driver to shift gears either manually or automatically.

Looking at the Audi R8, it also employs a similar capacity 5.2L V10 engine that can produce the same torque but 40 hp less power than the Huracan. On the other hand, the McLaren 570S' 3.8L V8 engine generates 562 hp of power and the highest 443 lbs.-ft. of torque.

2017 Lamborghini Huracan Coupe Acceleration

Acceleration remains the biggest deciding factor to judge the vehicles of this segment. When it comes to acceleration, there's no match for Lamborghini Huracan's 0-60 mph time of 2.8 seconds. Moreover, the quarter-mile time of Huracan is also better than both the Audi R8 and McLaren 570S, which corresponds to 10.4 seconds.

In comparison, Audi R8 turns out to be the most sluggish in the 0-60 mph but catches up to the rivals in the quarter-mile. The second to Lamborghini stands McLaren with 3.2 seconds but loses the place to Audi in quarter-mile.

2017 Lamborghini Huracan Coupe Ride and Handling

The riding and handling quality of the 2017 Lamborghini Huracan is hard-to-beat. With its highly efficient aerodynamics along with a rear spoiler, the car feels to be fully under control even at very high speeds. The electric power steering of the Huracan is very responsive, and the transmission controls embedded over it delivers a complete racing experience. Additionally, the tilt and telescopic steering wheel feature allow the driver to adjust the steering wheel to a comfortable position. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) feature along with the traction control ensures that the car remains at the track even in slippery road conditions.

2017 Lamborghini Huracan Coupe Braking

For regulating the deceleration, both the 2017 Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8 utilizes 14.4-inch brakes at the front and 14.0-inch brakes at the rear. Whereas, the McLaren 570S comes with 15.5-inch and 15.0-inch brakes at the front and rear, respectively. Audi manages to come to halt from 60 mph in 104 ft.
