The competition is faster than the BMW, although not by much. The Audi S8 is the quickest to 60 mph mark at 3.3 seconds. The Mercedes follows right after, being at its heels at 3.4 seconds. The Porsche manages the exact same acceleration time to 60 mph but is the fastest in the quarter-mile run. Even in the quarter-mile, the 2018 BMW takes the last spot but with a minute difference of 0.1 seconds.
BMW has always offered all its cars with great brakes, and the 7 Series is no exception. It gets huge 15.5-inch discs in the front wheels and 14.5-inch discs in the rear. They do a wonderful job of hauling the massive weight of above 5,000 pounds from 60 mph to a standstill. Although the sedan fails to impress as it takes around 157ft to reach a halt from 70mph.
The handling is affected by the weight, obviously, and under hard cornering, the rear passengers are at the risk of losing their lunch in a foul manner. The adaptive suspension does its best to absorb the bumps on the road, as well as minimizing the body roll under cornering. Except for the Panamera, all the cars offer oodles of space in the back seats. Panamera is also the only sedan which only brings a seating capacity of four. The sedans of Audi and Mercedes are great contenders in this category with great space all around for the passengers to enjoy a comfortable ride.Â
The 2M760i xDrive offers an impressive array of technology, especially with the connectivity. Although the lack of Android Auto, even as an optional extra, is a bit disappointing. Many standard tech features are standard making it relaxing for the passenger to be constantly entertained inside.

The other cars in this comparison offer less space than the BMW, especially the Audi. The S8 has a disappointingly smaller boot, even smaller than the coupe-styled Porsche Panamera. The only sedan capable of giving a slight competition to BMW is Porsche by offering 17.6 cu-ft of cargo storage.
BMW M760i is a huge car, as it is supposed to be. It is a comfortable sedan with huge space in the rear seats to have a comfortable ride. The length is over 200 inches, and the wheelbase is large too, at 126.4 inches.
The ground clearance is just fine, at 5.3 inches, which steers clear of any bumps. The weight is also by far the most in this segment, although BMW's clever engineering makes it hard to notice.

The driving experience isn't as engaging though and the chassis feels more wooden than the BMW as well. If luxury is your focus, Mercedes-AMG S63 takes the cake.
Porsche is a sports car maker, and sadly, the Panamera is not a sports car. It sounds like one, and to some extent even drives like one, but the dimensions and weight disadvantages the car in more areas than one area. The Panamera simply takes a working formula and tries to incorporate new variables into it. The biggest advantage though is the exclusivity, which might be reason enough for some people to purchase this car.
The Audi S8, sadly, feels like an outdated car entirely, even though it is essentially a redesigned car for modern times. It excels in the areas of comfort and luxury, although not to the extent the other sedans in this test manage to be. This is much more disappointing because the S8 was only designed for backseat commuters, and not driving enthusiasts. But overall experience of BMW makes us choose it between the two.
BMW markets its cars with the phrase 'Sheer Driving Pleasure,' which indeed is the case with its cars. The M760i xDrive is a luxurious sedan with a powerful performance on offer. The powerful figures in all the aspects along with a long list of premium features on board, this sedan by BMW comes out as a decent pick in the segment.
