The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta was a legendary Car that Motoring Enthusiasts all over the World loved and raved about. When Ferrari announced that this car would be discontinued and subsequently with the launch of the 488 GTB, Ferrari Purists were saddened as they thought the next replacement to the F12 might be a Turbocharged one. But Ferrari shocked the World when they debuted the All New 812 Superfast at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
In 2016, Ferrari jumped into the Turbo Engine Bandwagon with its 488 GTB and this got many Ferrari Purists disappointed as it hinted that every new replacement of a Ferrari might be turbocharged. Ferrari signaled the end of the production of the Legendary F12 Berlinetta in 2017 and this created even more suspicion in the minds of the Automotive Pundits. But, to the Delight of Automotive Enthusiasts around the World, Ferrari introduced the all-new Ferrari 812 Superfast as the replacement to the F12.
Named after the legendary Ferrari Superfast from 1957, the new Beast from the Maranello based manufacturer houses a 6.5L Naturally Aspirated V12 motor that belts out 789 BHP and 718Nm of Torque and retails for more than $315,000. Read on to find out what makes this Car a legend and probably the last of its kind.
The Superfast has some great competition in the form of the 2 outstanding cars, namely the McLaren 720S and the Lamborghini Aventador S. Even though the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast is a Supercar, it doesn't lack equipment and is meant for everyday use. You do have a lot of High Tech equipment onboard but Ferrari has not compromised on giving good features to the Car. Ferrari also offers its customers the Ferrari Configurator which allows customers to customize every detail of their Ferrari.

Ferrari does know how to make some of the best V12 Engines in the World and the Engine inside 2018 812 Superfast is no different. The Engine in itself is the experience that would define the 812 driving experience. The 812 Superfast is powered by a Mid Engined Rear Wheel Drive 6496cc 65 Degree V12 motor with 94mmX78mm bore and stroke respectively and 13.6:1 compression ratio.
This generates 789HP at an Astronomical 8900RPM (rev limiter is set at this RPM) and 718Nm of Torque. The good part of this Motor is that 80% of the max torque is available at just 3,500RPM which is unprecedented for a naturally-aspirated Ferrari Engine.

Power is channeled to the Rear Wheels via a Super Quick and Ultra Responsive 7 Speed Dual Clutch Transmission with an Electronic Differential. Ferrari says that they have shortened the 1st to 6th Gears of the 812 by 6% as compared to the F12 hence offering quicker gear shifts that are approximately 30% quicker on upshifts and 40% quicker on downshifts than the F12. The Power delivery is so insane that people have to think twice before giving the Pedal to the Metal.
"Ballistic" is one of the many words that come to mind to describe the acceleration of this "Italian Beauty". When you sit behind the wheel of the 812 Superfast and decide to give Pedal to the Metal (If you are Gutsy enough to do so), the 812 will propel you to 60MPH faster than a 'Bullet fired from an AK-47 Rifle'. You will do 60MPH in 2.8 seconds and 3 digit speeds will be achieved under 7 seconds.

However, most owners wouldn't want to do the same as the Speeds are just too "Frantic" and "Terrifying" to contain due to the size of the Car and the Over Responsive Steering wheel, which makes it extremely difficult to sustain such speeds for long.
One of the biggest complaints that customers had with the F12 was that it was not that easy to handle at high speeds and required serious Skill to handle the Car at those speeds due to the Over Sharp and Aggressive steering. Ferrari has managed to do away with that "Partly". The Ride is still "Civilized" at low city driving speeds like the F12. But when the Built-up Area ends, the Ferrari 812 Superfast is a Show on its own. The Car comes with 4 wheel steering as well.
The 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast comes in with an "Electronically Assisted Power Steering'' which is the first Ferrari ever to have this feature unlike the Conventional Hydraulic Steering present on the other models. This car also has Side Slip Control Version 5 that allows Modulated feedback and Torque control to the Steering wheel from the Sensors present in the rear wheels. The Steering itself is made of Carbon Fiber and has an F1 style LED which doubles as the Digital Tachometer and glows gradually as the Engine starts nearing its Redline of 8900RPM. The Car also gets 4 Wheel Steering that aids in turning at corners at high speeds without much fuss.
Suspension duties are handled by Dual Coil "Electronic Magnetorheological Suspension" or "SCM-E" as Ferrari would like to call it. This allows for good absorption of Bumps and Undulations at High speeds by Softening of the Suspension and Stiffening of the Suspension when the Speeds become higher and the Car demands stability. You also get F1 inspired Traction Control and 3rd Generation Electronic Control Differential that works in tandem with the other electronics to provide Sublime Ride and Handling. The Tires supplied as Stock units are the Amazing Pirelli P Zero tires that offer great grip levels on the road and allow the car to attain its maximum speed of 211MPH.
For a Car with these "Herculean" levels of Performance, the Brakes have to be of the same level. Ferrari has kitted up 2018 812 Superfast with Brembo's Extreme Design Brakes which were last seen on the "LaFerrari'' and are no slouch. These brakes are the most efficient brakes Ferrari has ever built.

The Brakes are made out of Carbon Ceramic, which is one of the Toughest man-made substances which then translates to superb braking while decelerating from Breakneck speeds.
Well, if you are planning on buying the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast or lucky enough to get one, MPG Figures might be one of the last things on your mind considering the V12 engine. However, Ferrari has added a lot of Electronics and reduced the Chassis weight as compared to the F12 that makes the Ferrari one of the most Fuel Efficient V12's out in the market

In our comparison, it gets only beaten by the McLaren which is obvious as the McLaren uses a Smaller Turbocharged Engine that delivers better fuel economy. However, it comfortably beats its arch-nemesis, the Aventador by a good margin.
Ferrari has paid a lot of Attention in appointing a "Supercar Worthy" Interior to the 812 Superfast. The Carbon Seats themselves are Low Slung to keep the Centre of Gravity low and are Lightweight to keep the weight of the car down. Leaving aside the cheap-looking and difficult to attach Seat Belts, the Seats themselves have been contoured with Leather which can be customized as per the Buyer's preference.
The Seats are comfortable for Supercar levels and offer good levels of comfort for long runs in the Car. The Air Cons have horizontal dash loops that can be moved in any direction to channel air in any direction you want.

The Dashboard is driver-focused and most of the controls are present near the Driver's Steering wheel. You also have a Central Armrest, Push Button Start, Tilt and Telescopic Adjust for Steering Wheel and USB Charging sockets. Apparently, due to the limited numbers and the elite status of these vehicles, the brands offer a customized arrangement for the seats. Hence, there is no hard and fast dimensioning that accompanies these boastful beasts. Nevertheless, the 812 Superfast boasts the following features:
Ferrari doesn't boast about the Cargo space of the 812 Superfast and neither mentions it on its website. But, the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast has decent space for luggage in the back which should be good enough for Weekend Drives or Short Trips.

One of the most Striking Features of the all-new 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast is the Interior layout. Most of the Interior features can be controlled by buttons present on the steering wheel as Ferrari always focuses the cabin to be built around the Driver. There is no fancy touch screen infotainment system like other rival supercars.
However, there is a Screen that has Satellite navigation, Driver Info Display containing all information regarding the car behind the Steering wheel on the Dashboard. Telephony Controls, Bluetooth, Cruise Control Button, Traction Control Button, Driving Mode selector, Turn Indicators, Headlamp Switches, and Paddle Shifters are present on the STEERING WHEEL itself so that the Driver always keeps his focus on the Steering wheel and never gets his Hands off it. The Audio Quality is good and has been well-tuned to contour your Ears.
There is a Small Screen in front of the Passenger's dashboard that showcases Engine RPM Speed, Gear, and Speed. It also allows the Passenger to control Media, Navigation and check various performance parameters like Traction Control, Stability Control, and a lot more. To summarize, the following list mentions the entertainment amenities:
The 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast is in no way a Small Car. It has a Huge Bonnet underneath which resides the big V12 power plant and helps Ferrari achieve the 47% Front and 53% rear weight balance.
The Car continues to be Bigger than the Car it replaces i.e the F12 hence making maneuvering this "Himalayan" Entity across the city or on tight places a Complex job.

The Turning Circle is just "Ridiculous" and will take some skill to make U-Turns or take tight turns in a City. As with many Ferrari's of the past starting from the Legendary 458 Italia, the 812 Superfast is an Engineer's "Marvel" and an Artist's "Masterpiece". The 812 grabs Eyeballs wherever you take it and don't be shocked if you see some people following your car on your Rear View Mirror. Other Features include
Like other supercars, Ferrari does not have a Safety section in its brochure. This is because driving a thing like this is itself unsafe and requires a lot of caution and responsibility from the driver's side. The IIHS and the NHTSA have not tested the Ferrari however there are a good amount of safety features that would keep the driver safe at all times. There are a lot of driver aids and features as well that intervene at the right time if the systems ensure some kind of improper behavior from the car. Some of the safety features and tech onboard the Ferrari include:
Ever Since McLaren launched the MP4-12C in 2012, everybody started to take McLaren as a Serious Rival to Ferraris. McLaren themselves say that scientifically, their Cars are better than Ferrari in every possible parameter. This is mostly true with the McLaren 720s as well. It has better acceleration, lesser weight, and better handling than the Ferrari. However, a Super Car isn't just built scientifically but with Emotions as well.
The Ferrari 812 superfast looks like a proper Supercar imbibing with itself Years of Ferrari's pure Racing Legacy and History. Also, the McLaren has been built to delight the Environmentalists but the Ferrari is for Automobile Purists who still favor the Sound of the Big Bashing naturally aspirated V-12's rather than Puny turbocharged Motors.
When we talk about rivalry in the Automobile Industry, few rivalries stand out. One of them is between Lamborghini and Ferrari. The never-ending feud between the 2 brands has yielded great results for the Customers in the form of some 'Epic' cars. The Lamborghini Aventador S comes as a Natural Rival to the 812 Superfast as both have similar configuration engines, seating capacities, performance, and Handling.
However, the Aventador only comes in all-wheel-drive Configuration and the 812 in Rear Wheel Drive Configuration. This means that the Lamborghini is for People who want to go fast on a race track and the Ferrari is for those, who want to have loads of Fun and Tire Squealing Action on the Track.
Summarizing the Ferrari 812 Superfast won't be easy as there is so much to talk about this "Beauty". The Replacement to the F12 was received with great joy among Motoring Enthusiasts all over the World. Despite the Environmentalists screaming for Turbos and Eco-Friendly motors, Ferrari listened to the voices of the Automotive Enthusiasts by bringing the 812 Superfast. The 812 Superfast truly pays "Homage" to the Superfast name in every way possible. It is Blisteringly Fast, is Fabulous to look at, drives like Magic, and carries forward the Legacy left behind the F12.
The V12 era will be soon coming to an end with the Emission Norms and Environmentalists fighting to make the V12 engines History and other car manufacturers like McLaren and Jaguar going the Turbocharging or Electric way. Should you buy one though? Well if you have the Bank Balance and want to buy a Part of Automotive History, don't let another thought cross your mind and get this Supercar. Ferrari's don't depreciate like other supercars and they fetch great amounts at auctions due to their rich heritage and legacy. The 812 may be the "Last of its kind" from the looks of it and if this is, then we must say, Ferrari has nailed it in ensuring that the V12 era goes out with a Bang.
