The Nissan Sentra is a budget sedan that offers a lot of simple features for a good price. The sedan comes simply equipped but is very spacious and has a good amount of technology features.
If you are looking for a no-nonsense compact sedan, the new Nissan Sentra will impress you. Nissan Engineers simply engineered the most spacious car they could at the lowest cost possible.
The result is a compact car more spacious and has more boot capacity than some mid-size sedan with a starting pr9ice of $16,990. This brings the Nissan Sentra into direct competition with the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Chevrolet Cruze.
Starting at just $16,990, the Sentra S is one of the cheapest compact cars on the market. It gets the base 1.8L naturally aspirated I4 mated to a 6-speed manual. However, we strongly recommended upgrading it with an optional CVT that takes the price to $18,275.

The Nissan Sentra is a value-for-money purchase and we recommend sticking with lower trims. Optioning the CVT is a must but a CVT-equipped base Sentra S is just marginally cheaper than the Sentra SV equipped with Dual-zone automatic climate control, premium cloth upholstery, and push-button start. Hence, all this puzzle-solving leads us to the Sentra SV priced at $19,085 - we recommend going for it.
The 2018 Nissan Sentra gets a standard 1.8 liter naturally aspirated inline-4 making 130 hp and 128 lb-ft torque. There is the option of a turbocharged 1.6 liter inline-4 making 188 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque and can be found in the SR trim. It’s mated to a 6-speed manual as standard in base Sentra S. There is the option of a CVT.
Both transmissions will manage and direct the power to the front wheels.

The Sentra is not a car that will intoxicate you barreling down a twisty mountain road. Rather, it offers safe, confident steering that provides excellent highway stability and still manages to be light in the city. Nissan stiffened the spring rates in 2016 to keep body rolls in check but while the competitors sport fully-independent rear suspension, Sentra has an old-school torsion beam rear suspension.
The Sentra gets 11.0-inch front vented disc brake rotors and a 9.0-inch drum brake at the back. The Sentra comes to a stop from 60 mph in a distance of 122 feet.

The legroom in the front is quite evenly matched, with all the cars providing at least 42 inches and then adds a maximum of half an inch. In terms of rear legroom, the most are offered by the Toyota Corolla with 41 inches, and then comes the Nissan Sentra with 37.4 inches.
The base Sentra S gets a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system while you can opt for larger 5.8-inch touchscreen infotainment on higher trims. The Sentra SL gets the 5.8-inch touchscreen as standard. Audiophiles are catered to with the available eight-speaker Bose audio system.
However, Nissan does not offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in Sentra.
The Nissan Sentra offers 15.1 cu-ft. of trunk space, which is plenty for all your everyday items, groceries, and even a few suitcases. The 60/40 split rear seat and wide pass-through ensures added flexibility when carrying longer items and three passengers.

The most trunk space is offered by the Nissan Sentra and the Honda Civic both offering 15.1 cu-ft. Then comes the Chevrolet Cruze with an offering of 14.8 cu-ft. followed by the Toyota Corolla with an offering of 13 cu-ft.
The Nissan Sentra received a major facelift in 2016 to bring it in line with the new Nissan V motion design language. The design is not overly busy but does give this compact sedan some road presence. It does feel noticeably taller than the competitors because it is.
You can equip even the base Sentra S with a Deck-lid spoiler but if you are looking for racy highlights, why not go completely bonkers and get the Midnight exterior trim. These dark Sentras possess black wheels, black spoiler, black mirrors, and plenty of other mean highlights and they cost just over $1,000.

In terms of dimensions, the above sedans are similar to each other a maximum of an inch or two will bring a difference in the above sedans. The difference can be seen in the curb weight where the Nissan Sentra comfortably fits itself in the middle of the pack.
The NHTSA has given the new Nissan Sentra an overall 4-star safety rating out of a possible 5-stars. The IIHS has also given it “good” in many of the tests conducted. The new Honda Civic offers more power and similar performance to the Sentra, the space on the interior and trunk is similar. We would say the range is different but is the same as well.
All we will say is with the parameters both cars are similar, so you won’t go wrong if you buy any.

Being a bit more practical in terms of boot space, we say the Sentra is the winner of this battle.

If you are looking for a decently comfortable and spacious urban runabout at a budget, the 2018 Nissan Sentra should rank high on your lists. It's one of few compact cars that can carry five passengers in comfort. The smooth ride and excellent high-speed stability combine with quiet interiors and spacious boot makes this compact car viable for long road trips with family. That said, the Sentra makes a decent case for itself if you simply desire a spacious daily driver at a budget.
