The 2019 Audi Q5 comes powered by a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder motor that channels power to all 4 wheels with its standard Quattro AWD system. The 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission complements the engine perfectly well as the shifts happen at the right time and within the blink of an eye. The Quattro system balances power and performance just perfectly and the SUV never really lacks grips in most scenarios. As a default setting, the Quattro system powers the front wheels, and when the terrain gets challenging or demanding, the system can channel almost the same amount of power to all 4 wheels equally or rearwards only.
Audi says that the Quattro Ultra system can fully disconnect the rear axle for better efficiency or seamlessly transfer power to all 4 of them. Passengers in the Audi, won't be able to see the transition in power and can help the Q5 maintain its composure in Snow, Ice, or other tough Terrains. The 2019 Audi Q5 has a well-tuned suspension that offers a stable and planted ride, no matter the terrain or the conditions around. The 5 Driving modes, namely Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, off-road, and individual alter the steering settings and suspension settings accordingly.
The Slick shifting DSG and the standard Quattro make for a smooth and grippy start from a standstill and help the Q5, do the 0-60 MPH run in no time at all. The 2019 Audi Q5, does the dash to 60 MPH from a standstill in just 6.2 seconds and covers the quarter-mile in 14.7 seconds. The 2019 Audi Q5 brakes as well as it gathers pace. Courtesy of big brake rotors and a well-tuned ABS and ESC program, the Q5 comes to a dead halt from 60 MPH in just 112 ft. The 2019 Q5 can also pull as much as 4,400 pounds and that's more than its own curb weight.

In comparison, while the Volvo XC60 is the most affordable of the lot, it lags behind in terms of performance with the slowest 0-60 MPH times and towing capacity. The Mercedes on the other hand matches the acceleration performance of the Audi but falls behind in terms of tugging power. The BMW X3 is the most enjoyable to drive of this lot and also offers performance on par with the 2019 Q5 in all aspects, while also being similarly priced.
Audi has turned the engine of the 2019 Audi Q5 for both efficiency and performance and the same can be testified from the MPG figures as well. The EPA rates the 2019 Q5 for 22 MPG in the city, 27 MPG on the highways, and 24 MPG combined, which together with the 18.5-gallon fuel tank offers about 500 miles of range on the highways.
Audi uses some clever technologies like active disengagement of the drivetrain from AWD to FWD or vice versa via the Quattro system which allows Audi to gain both efficiency and yet deliver adequate performance, as and when needed.

The BMW X3 squeezes out the most from a gallon of fuel while the other 3 showcase almost identical overall MPG figures. Where the Audi and the Volvo have the edge, is in the range as they manage to deliver a higher range courtesy of their bigger fuel tanks. That said, the low fuel economy figures of the Volvo will have you shell out a tad bit more money on the running costs.
Comfort and luxury have been Audi's forte for years, and the 2019 Audi Q5 follows the tradition. The Q5 sports a simple & user-friendly European design with leather surfaces everywhere you touch. An 8-way power-adjustable driver seat with 4-way lumbar support is standard while for taller drivers, there are manual thigh extensions to maximize comfort. You can even add wood trims on the dashboard and a sunroof for some extra zing to the interiors and the upholstery is available in 4 color options.
The rear seats offer enough space to seat 3 passengers while the panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, and ambient interior lighting do elevate the overall experience. The Q5 2019 doesn't disappoint in terms of the trunk space with 25.1 cu-ft on offer. The Q5 houses plenty of hooks and nets on the inside that make it easy to store small packets while the rear seats can be flat folded to reveal a total of 53.1 cu-ft of space. The door pockets, plenty of cup holders, and USB ports all add to the practicality of the SUV.

The back of the front seats is made of hard plastic, and although there are knee cutouts, it still might feel a bit cramped. Overall, things aren't bad for a midsize offering. Competition-wise, it's the ultra-practical BMW X3 that leads the comparison with almost 29 cubic feet of cargo space while the XC60 stands last with the smallest trunk. The interior of Mercedes GLC on the other hand also offers very low trunk space at 19.4 cubic feet. The Q5 offers the best combination of passenger and luggage space and just like its other siblings, offers an infotainment system that is a cause of envy for the other manufacturers.
Audi has revised its MMI interface for the Q5 and updated it for the 2019 Q5. The MMI still remains the easiest to use and intuitive system in the class. All buttons have been remapped and perform more than one function hence reducing the number of buttons in the system and making the interface less clumsy and clattered. The 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit driver gauge cluster looks right out of futuristic movies and offers plenty more functionality to the driver in his/her line of sight. The following are some of the features that can be found in the 2019 Q5:
At the front, the 2019 Audi Q5 boasts a single-frame grille with a protruding feel to it which reminds me of the Q7. Almost all the sections feature some sort of character lines. From the side, the Q5 has a slant to the back, but it doesn't impede headroom or cargo space. The side profile remains unchanged similar to its overall dimensions other than a few sharp creases along the length of the car. The rear of the Q5 is impressive, to say the least. The clamshell design of the taillights adds to the cohesive design.
At the bottom, you get two horizontal exhaust outlets on the silver rear diffuser while the tall stance and high ground clearance of 8.2-inch give you the confidence to go over rougher surfaces with ease. Audi offers the Q5 2019 in 11 different paint color options for buyers to choose from while the Black Optics package further adds a rugged and sporty appeal to the buyers to match their tastes. While 18-inch alloy wheels are standard, higher trims upgrade to a set of 19-inch and 20-inch rims along with full LED headlights and taillights.

Dimension-wise, the Q5 isn't the longest, widest, or tallest in the segment but is identical to the others in the segment. The wheelbase of the new Q5 is small and the relatively small dimensions give the Q5 an advantage in maneuverability in city traffic or tight parking spaces. The massive 8.2-inch of ground clearance adds to the off-road credentials of the Audi and makes the underbody less prone to getting hit by speed humps. The X3 despite being the heaviest in this comparison, feels most agile around turns while the Q5 feels more like an SUV.
Audi doesn't overlook the safety of its car and the 2019 Audi Q5 is no exception. This can be justified by the perfect 5-star rating it has earned in the crash tests conducted by the NHTSA. The IIHS has also rated it 'Good' in almost all aspects of the tests.
The 2019 Q5 packs in a lot of safety features as standard and Audi takes it a step forward with the advanced driver aids on offer. That said, lower trims miss out on those and need to be opted with the options but the build quality does not raise any concern over the reliability of the Q5. Some of the few safety features include
Picking between the Q5 and the X3 is troublesome. They are similarly valued, convey a satisfying driving background, and offer a far-reaching set of highlights. If you want a feature-loaded cabin without paying a lot, the BMW will be the best. In case you're after a more pleasant inside and an additionally engaging infotainment framework, the Audi Q5 could be your SUV of decision.
The Q5 and the GLC are the best of their respective brands in terms of midsize SUVs. But on paper, it's the Q5 that clean sweep the GLC in every parameter. The Q5 delivers better mileage, performance, towing capacity, and interior space. The GLC on the other hand offers a more luxurious interior and should be your choice if you prefer to be chauffeur-driven.
There is no separating the performance of both the Q5 and the Volvo as they both rake in the best figures in terms of the same. The Audi is slightly off the pace in terms of braking performance and lacks the number of features on offer when compared variant to variant. In terms of outright handling and build quality, however, it's the Audi that has a clear edge over the Volvo, by being a better car to be driven and driven in.
With its new and powerful 4-cylinder motor, luxurious and feature-rich interiors, and striking-looking exteriors, the Audi Q5 has everything you would want from an SUV of this class. It's loaded with features that exude comfort, luxury, safety, and connectivity. And with features like a virtual cockpit, Audi has ensured that you don't take your eyes off the windshield and what's in front of you. Unless you want to have some fun behind the wheel of your premium SUV, the Q5 2019 offers tremendous value to all its buyers.
