The 2019 Audi SQ5, gets a new trim namely the Premium Trim, and follows the lines of the Q5. Power continues to be derived from a 3.0L Turbocharged Fuel Stratified Injection V6 Motor that develops 354hp and 369ft-lbs of Torque.

Engine and Performance
8.9/10

The 3.0L V6 Motor of the 2019 Audi SQ5 ranks as one of the most powerful motors in its class. It accelerates quickly and can deliver maximum torque at a low rev range. Audi's famed TFSI tech allows for lower turbo lags and better power delivery down the rev range. On the other hand, the tried and tested Quattro AWD system ensures that the power generated from the Motor is properly orchestrated to all 4 wheels depending on the situation and the demand.

The 8-speed automatic transmission is smooth and swift in terms of shifting which delivers a great driving experience. The DSG unit is one of the Fastest shifters in the segment and has been tuned for even quicker responses in the SQ5.

Acceleration

The SQ5 delivers rapid acceleration from the smallest of throttle inputs. It goes from 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and the quarter-mile race, the SUV achieves the feat in an astounding 13.5 seconds. The DSG adds to the quickness of the car because of low transmission losses and quicker shifts.

The BMW X3 M40i has the best acceleration in the lot and takes just 4.6 seconds to reach the 60mph mark and completes the quarter-mile drag in 13.4 seconds at 102mph. Even in terms of emission, the BMW X3 M40i is the most environment-friendly vehicle.

Ride and Handling

The ride experience of the SQ5 feels power-packed and agile and it manages to do it while maintaining high comfort levels thanks to the air suspension system. The SUV has good body control and has a great grip over the road. However, the steering might feel a bit less responsive in corners. Riding over uneven and bumpy surfaces won't be an obstacle due to the marvelous ground clearance (8.2inches) of the SQ5 which is the largest in its class.

You can opt for the optional adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning to ease up the driving. The car offers 6 driving modes: Auto, Dynamic, Comfort, Individual, All road and Lift/Off-road. These numerous variations give the rider a lot of options to choose their most suitable adjustments as per their needs.

Braking

The 2019 Audi SQ5 brakes as well as quickly as it gathers pace. Courtesy of big brake rotors and a well-tuned ABS and ESC program, the SQ5 comes to a dead halt in no time. What is furthermore impressive is the fact there is little nose dive or loss of grip while braking and the ESC makes the SUV's tail and body maintain a linear path rather than leaving a wobbly trail of burnt rubber.

Interior
8.5/10

The SQ5 has a seating capacity of 5 people. The leather seats are well contoured and provide good support for comfortable long drives. The driver and the front-seat passenger can get the precise seating position as per their requirements using the 12-way power-adjustable front sport seats. The interior also has 4-way power-adjustable lumbar support for the front row. There is ample room for legs, knees, and head. The front row is very spacious, so, getting in and out of the car is really easy. The rear row might get a bit congested but overall, Audi has plush and comfortable looking interiors.

Competition
7.0/10

Audi Q5 vs BMW X3

The BMW has a slightly powerful engine when talking in terms of horsepower. The SQ5 is overshadowed by the BMW in terms of acceleration, cargo space, and fuel economy. The BMW is costlier than the Audi but not by a big margin. The SQ5 however, outshines the BMW in the braking department. Of the 2, if driving is your top priority, the BMW will suit your needs well. For everything else, there is the Audi.

Audi Q5 vs Mercedes Benz GLC

The engine of the Mercedes is a far refined and more powerful unit than that of the SQ5. The Mercedes is quicker to accelerate but except for acceleration, the SQ5 performs better in every field when compared to the AMG GLC 43 AMG. The SQ5 has better braking, better fuel economy, and more cargo volume and towing capacity. Further, the SQ5 is cheaper than the Mercedes. The SQ5 here hence clearly wins.

Audi SQ5 vs Porsche Macan GTS

The Porsche Macan GTS has the most minimal efficiency rating and least powerful brakes in the part. The Macan however, gathers pace much quicker than the Audi but falters in the braking department. Also, the Macan costs a fortune more than the SQ5. There is by all accounts positively no explanation behind purchasing the Macan GTS over SQ5.

Final Verdict

Staying true to Audi's name, The 2019 Audi SQ5 comes packed with performance and features, while not missing out on luxury. Its sport-tuned suspension and chassis allow for fabulous stability around the corners while the ride never gets spine crushing. In terms of looks, the SQ5 scores high with its futuristic-looking Headlights on the Outside and a superb Digital Display on the inside. Summing it up, if you want a performance SUV that gives you the performance that one expects from an SUV of this size while not compromising on features, luxury and comfort, the 2019 Audi SQ5 is one of the best SUV's that you can get right now.
