The 3.0L 340hp Supercharged V6 comes standard in the Range Rover Trim. The 380hp version of the same motor comes standard with the HSE trim. Both 3.0L Motors come with the same 332 lbs.-ft. Of torque. Supercharged and Autobiography trim come powered by the 5.0L Supercharged V8 Motor that belts out 518hp and 461lbs.-ft. Of torque.

We Recommend

The HSE trim offers a lot of premium features when compared to its higher trims and runs on a frugal powertrain as well. So, considering this in mind, the HSE trim makes the most sense, unless you are really keen on buying a powerful version of the Range Rover.

Engine and Performance
8.4/10

The 2019 Land Rover Range Rover SUV, comes in 4 Engine options as per the trim chosen. Of torque.

Irrespective of the engine choice, the power delivery is smooth and linear and packs enough punch and grunt at all times. Speaking of transmission, these are taken care of by a superb 8 Speed Unit that offers buttery smooth shifts on all occasions.

Throwing light on the competition, we find that the Maserati Levante S delivers the most power out of its given rivals. The Other 3 SUV 2019s in this list are packed at a dead heat and are separated in the torque department, where the Lexus has a slight edge over its sibling, the Land Cruiser.

Acceleration

With the power from a 3.0L Supercharged Unit, the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover manages to do the 0-60MPH dash in just 7 seconds and the quarter-mile run in 13.9 seconds.

In the real world, this translates to easy overtakes on both the motorways and on the city roads as well. The 8-speed transmission makes linear power delivery and commuting through the city, a breeze.

As expected, the Sporty Maserati makes a mockery of the others in terms of the acceleration runs and demolishes the times of its rivals by a hefty margin. The Land Cruiser takes the 2nd Spot in terms of 0-60 MPH run and the land Rover comes in a close 3rd. The Lexus has to suffice with the 3rd spot overall

Ride and Handling

The Range Rover is one of the most - if not the most - fantastic and capable off-road vehicles on the market. It handles beautifully while steering with such ease and comfort. The suspension doesn't feel too stiff nor too soft, yet balanced enough to provide a comfortable ride.

Maneuverable and secure - two words that fit best when describing the Rover's steering capability. While off-road, the car is rock solid while maintaining a good comfort level for the passengers. Handling takes a hit only when taking sudden, twisty turns, but otherwise, the car is behaving well and feels sturdy.

Braking

Carrying a massive weight of nearly 5000 pounds on its back, the brakes on the Range Rover have to be of top grade, to bring this machine to halt quickly. The 14.3 inch and 13.8-inch rotors on the range rover offer the same kind of performance and manage to bring the Rangey to a stop from 60MPH in just 124ft.

In addition to the massive rotors, you also get emergency braking and an adaptive speed limiter that adjusts the speed as per the zone, the vehicle is being driven in.

The Range Rover, despite its 124ft. Stopping distance fares the worst in our comparison. It's the sporty Maserati that sets the benchmark for braking performance followed by the Toyota and the Lexus.

Towing capacity

The Range Rover doesn't disappoint in the towing department as well. With an ability to tow over 7700 pounds, the Range Rover easily outruns its rivals in this aspect.

Speaking of rivals, the Japanese duo of the Lexus and the Toyota, come the closest in offering the most cargo space. The Sporty Maserati loses out on this front and tows the least among its rivals.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

The Rand Rover gives a decent fuel economy when compared to the competition. In fact, it pretty much takes the crown. It is only nearly-bested by the Lincoln Navigator, which comes second. The Lexus and the Land Cruiser both provide almost the same economy.

Interior
7.1/10

The 2019 Land Rover Range Rover has a spacious and comfortable interior with premium quality upholstery. Both the rear and front seats offer excellent shoulder space and legroom while offering comfortable seating for up to 5. Unfortunately, unlike some of the other models in this price range, the Range Rover can not come with a third-row option.

The Seats are ventilated in both the front and rear and can be reclined in the rear as well. Speaking of the front seats, you will find them embodied in premium leather and have a 24-way power adjustment to them.

The 2019 land Rover Range Rover, resembles the previous year's model in almost every way from the outside. It still retains its boxy proportions but manages to look elegant and poised. The LED Headlights and the massive Alloys, add to the overall appeal and flair of this SUV.

The Range Rover seems like it has a decent measurement for an off-road SUV yet the ground clearance does not look like it can take off-road that easily. While one will still have to be careful about swerving into those marshy lands, one would suggest sticking to the tarmac with this one.

The Range Rover comes with the following exterior features:

  • Auto-Dimming Exterior and Interior Rear View Mirrors
  • Rain Sensing Windshield wipers
  • Automatic Headlights with LED DRL's
  • LED Taillights with to follow me headlights

Competition

Land Rover Range Rover vs. Lexus LX 570

The Lexus has comfortable seating, posh interiors, much bigger cargo volume, more passenger seating capacity, 3-row seating, great off-road. But it suffers in fuel economy, a bit expensive starting model, average acceleration, and equipment.

The Lexus is a great alternative to the Range Rover, but if shelling out a couple more grand does not seem to be a concern, the Range Rover has much better to offer on the higher and successive trims.

Land Rover Range Rover vs. Toyota Land Cruiser

The Land Cruiser offers a 3-row configuration and can seat 8 passengers as well while offering a much better boot space. What's better is the fact that it's cheaper than the range rover by some margin.

The Japanese SUV does seem like an excellent alternative to the Range Rover but when it comes to sheer brand value and levels of refinement of luxury, the Range Rover is a class on its own and justifies its premium.

Land Rover Range Rover vs. Maserati Levante S

While the Levante is being touted by Maserati as a Performance SUV, the Levante doesn't exactly lack the luxury, one associate from a Maserati. It beats the Land Rover hands down in the performance department and comes loaded with a whole set of tech inside.

But, a person seeking a Luxury SUV will surely be disappointed by some of the Materials used inside the Maserati. The Range Rover leaves no stone unturned in offering the perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and performance and which is why it's the one to go among the 2.

Final Verdict
9.0/10

For a starting price of nearly $90,000, the Range Rover seems to be quite an expensive proposition. But considering the variety of engines on offer, luxury quotient, and the unmatched off-road ability and comfort on offer, the Range Rover justifies this price. With the addition of some nifty tech features like android auto, apple car play, and driver assistance features, the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover is one of the few SUVs in the market that will take you to unexplored places but inside a royal and luxurious cocoon.
