Under the hood, you get a 3.8 liter V6 turbocharged powertrain which puts out 565 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. The improved interiors and almost ready-to-race like performance scores top rank overall.
The 2019 Nissan GT-R carries over unchanged form its predecessor and that's not surprising at all. This iconic sports car has embraced consistency like no other car of oits caricature. However, over the years, the Nissan GT-R has put on some minor tricks up its sleeves. Along with its aesthetics, what has also not changed for the 2019 Nissan GT-R is its blistering performance which still comes at almost half the price of its German rivals.
The 2019 Nissan GTR comes in three trim levels namely Pure, Premium and Track edition. All of them share a common 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 powertrain which is rated to produce 565 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 6 speed dual clutch transmission and all-wheel drive is standard. Starting price for the Pure trim is $99,900, the all-new Pure base trim has a slightly lower starting price than last year's entry-level edition. The Track edition comes with some additional bits like recaro seats, carbon fiber spoiler and nismo tuned suspension for enhanced performance on the track.

As a vehicle the GT-R Pure is said to be the best deal for the price you pay. It comes well-equipped with performance-oriented components and a nicely appointed cabin, but it costs $10,500 less than the next step up. And, this is exactly where the advantage lies.
The Supercar-like performance comes at a decent price, from a naive twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 which puts out a not-so-naive 565 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque. An IHI turbocharger is integrated into the exhaust system for optimized flow and efficient cooling. Engine components are created from a variety of composite material to make it as light as possible. The hand-built titanium exhaust ensures proper cooling from the massive engine output.
The V6 engine is mated to 6-speed dual-clutch transmission which helps in snappy gear shifts in just 0.15 seconds. A dry sump lubrication system sprays oil directly onto the gears during cornering at high speed, this helps in smooth operation as well as in cooling the engine at such high speeds. As a result of all, the Nissan GT-R charges forward vehemently even at the slightest pedal input. This beast is not only scarily powerful but all its power is equally responsive and usable as well.

Every other rival possesses a V8 powertrain and the GT-R is the only one with a V6 engine. Although the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 produces the highest amount of horsepower but it doesn't reflect on the tarmac. In contrast, the swift power-delivery of the GT-R makes it feel more furious than the Chevrolet here. Despite a large V8 block under its hood though, the Shelby GT350 stands last in terms of power.
The Nissan GTR with its V6 powerhouse is absolutely superfast on straight roads. Squeeze the throttle and it races from 0-60 MPH in 2.9 seconds. That's blistering, to say the least. Further it also covers a quarter of a mile in 11 seconds flat and has the potential to reach 196 mph as its top speed. Power down the lower rpm range comes in very quick and with an overwhelming torque reserve, the GT-R pulls itself confidently, all the way to the redline.
Part of the GT-R's credit also goes to its smooth and quick 6-speed automatic transmission which is sharp and precise in its operations. Among the competition here, the Corvette Z06 is second to the Nissan GT-R with a 0-60 MPH run of 3.3 seconds. No wonder, the least powerful Ford Shelby GT350 trails behind the Nissan and Chevrolet with its 5.4 seconds on the stopwatch.

Besides being a quick-gun on the track, the Nissan GT-R is an equally confident stopper with ventilated discs at all four corners. The brakes are also assisted by 6 and 4-piston callipers at the front and rear respectively. The brake pedal feels firm and the lightweight aluminum callipers have a strong bite into them. In emergency conditions, the GT-R stops from 60-0 MPH in 94 feet which is the shortest braking distance among the competition here.
Press the start button on central control and the 3.8-liter V6 turbocharged powertrain burbles to life. Responsiveness, stability and a poised character ironically make up the handling attributes of this Godzilla. The mind-numbing horsepower is put down to the wheel through an electronically controlled all-wheel drive system that operates at 0/100 front-rear bias in normal conditions. However, the system can automatically switch to up to a 50/50 split as needed. The race-tuned Bilstein Damptronic suspension reads the road ahead and provides appropriate damping force for optimum control.
The steering of this vehicle is extremely responsive and gives the driver confidence on corners. Built on the mixture platform the engine is placed for the back on the chassis and the transmission is mounted in the rear with the transfer case for better handling. The all-wheel-drive system coupled with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) is helpful in harsh weather conditions when most supercars stay in the garage. While the GT-R seems at home on a straight track, it remains equally composed around corners. Flipping it around corners is a hassle-free task but at track-speeds though, it does tend to lose some of its discipline.
Along with a spectacular performance, the Nissan GT-R also returns a handy fuel economy. That's exactly where its comparatively smaller 3.8-liter V6 engine comes into play. With a 2019 Nissan GT-R, you get 16 in the city, 22 on highway and 18 MPG combined fuel economy respectively.

Surprisingly, when pitched against its rivals like the Corvette Z06, the GT-R's economy doesn't seem much frugal, especially with its V6 engine. Even with a larger V8 engine here, the Chevrolet Corvette is almost as efficient as the GT-R. Even the Shelby GT350 is not too far behind the other two rivals here.
With the ability to accommodate four individuals the Nissan GT-Rs cabin is as functional as it is on its exteriors. However, the rear seats are more suitable for kids and short individuals. The hand-stitched semi-aniline leather seats are comfortable all day long with ample amount of bolstering. The legroom is good enough and getting in and out the car is effortless. The cabin does feel spacious overall and the build-quality seems sturdy as well. Outward visibility is also unhindered while getting in and out is also no grouse.
The GT-R won't offer you the German extravagance for sure and the interior layout does see, dated. Even at places around the cabin you will find some cheap plastic materials. However, you do get powered front seats with leather upholstery as standard alongside faux suede inserts. The higher models also get dual-tone interiors with red contrast stitching which looks premium and sporty. The seats up front are comfortable though with good height and decent adjustment. However, that's not the case with the rear seat for sure.

The rear bench in the GT-R is cramped for sure but for that added extra practicality for its stature, it does gain some points in there. Overall, it's not the most opulent, but the GT-R does offer a clean, minimal and sporty cabin ambience. Everything inside the cabin is thoughtfully placed within good reach of the driver and there's ample interior space as well. Infact, the GT-R has better front row headroom and legroom than its rivals here. However, with just 8.8 cu-fts of cargo space, the GT-R is almost half as practical as a Corvette Z06. Well, that's one trade-off for the GT-R's class-leading performance.
As mentioned above the interiors are good for the front seats but it gets a little crampy when you move to the rear seats. Apart from the room that it provides for its passengers there are some exclusive features that the GTR has to offer. A few of the many features that the 2019 Nissan GT-R offer are mentioned below:
The GT-R comes standard with the NissanConnect infotainment system that seamlessly links to your smartphone and with its wide 8-inch touchscreen. The screen is not very sharp or crisp but does have an easy to use menu. The kind of detail that is visible on the new screen in terms of performance is sure to satisfy every sports car nerd's dream. The GT-R also comes with an 11-speaker Bose audio system that features active noise cancellation.
There's also a multi-information display in the instrument cluster designed with polyphony digital, the developers for PlayStation GT games. It monitors everything from longitudinal and lateral G-Force, engine coolant temperature, boosts pressure, steering angle and what not. Apart from this, the GT-R also offers Apple CarPlay, Navigation, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and satellite radio. SOme of its infotainment highlights are listed below:
Infotainment Features:
This Japanese made supercar is known for mixing its design with functionality. After several iterations and rigorous tuning, the Nissan GT-R came up with this magnificent mid engine supercar. The grille is new and offers additional cooling to the engine with a 30 percent stiffer hood to avoid wind deflection at higher speeds.
The igantic front-fender vents and chin spoiler helps to keep a check on downforce. The GT-R doesn't have that look at me attitude of an Italian machine, rather it has odd angles, rounded contours and crisp edges for aerodynamic efficiency. The delicate C pillar diminishes into a vertical fence on the rear fender which is inspired by NISMO GT-R. The rear diffuser is also updated for optimum aero performance. The iconic twin taillights are synonymous with Nissan GT-R.

By far the heaviest machine amongst its peers, the Nissan GT-R leads the way in terms of curb weight, at a bulky 3933 lbs. The Coupe also tops the list when it comes to wheelbase length (109.4 inches) and remains the tallest car in its class at 53.9 inches. However, its bonkers V6 engine and effective dynamics make you feel you are driving something with a smaller footprint.
Exterior Features
After going to the exterior dimensions of this beast, let's have a look at the features that it has to offer. Exterior features include details of body colour, bumpers, windshields, wheel rim specifications and more.
Since crash-test ratings are not available, we can't tell how well the GT-R protects its passengers. Howeveer, that's not the case only with the GT-R here. It is believed that due to the limited production numbers, the NHTSA and the IIHS didn't perform the crash tests of exotic high-performance sports cars. However, the standard features like all-wheel drive and a rearview camera make it a safe ride. Nissan GT-R's stability control system comes with different modes that maintain street traction. Some of its key safety features are listed below:
Safety Features:
The Corvette Z06 is $ 20, 000 less than the GT-R, from a performance standpoint the GT-R is slightly quicker and more agile. The Corvette Z06 significantly raises the performance quotient with agile handling and driving dynamics. It is as fast as the GT-R in a straight but the Nissan is best when it comes to windy roads and raw acceleration off the line. The Nissan also has a more spacious cabin but the Corvette takes the lead with its enhanced cargo space.
The Ford Shelby GT 350 coupe is powered by a 5.2 liter 8 cylinder engine which puts out 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. It is not as roomy as the GT-R but comes with a larger trunk and more usable back seat. It is easier to live with as well, with better visibility and a pleasant usable interior. However, the Ford Shelby GT 350 isn't as sharp as GT-R.The Nissan is a clear winner when it comes to overall performance. Priced around $60,000 the GT 350 definitely takes the crown in terms of value.
The Nissan GT-R is no longer a scalding supercar bargain like it used to be but the performance levels are impressive. It has created a sensation since its debut because of its value. Proving a perfect daily driver he GT-R has slowly earned a good slot among the prominent performance cars as well. If you are looking for a sports car which can take down any track challenge while it is also easier to live with everyday, the Nissan GT-R will not disappoint you at all.
