About 2019 Rolls-Royce Wraith

4.1

Overall Rating

Belonging to the class of over luxury, this machine is a jewel if not royalty. It is obvious for the Rolls-Royce to be priced outrageously, at a starting price of $300,000 you are offered a royal suite on wheels

With a brighter spirit the iconic machine of luxury is now here to prove its performance prowess. The fame of its enchanting interiors needs no mention, it is considered in several industries to be the benchmark of luxury. Doing justice to the name earned, the Rolls-Royce delivers a class apart package in terms of flamboyance.

Every spec of it speaks of panache and awe, the Rolls Royce is certainly the best you could avail in the league of luxuries. With two variants on offer, Royce delivers several packages to meet the customer's customisation needs. In this segment of sporty luxury vehicles, the 2019 Rolls-Royce Wraith faces competition from the Bentley Continental GT.

Firstly if you can afford it then we would certainly recommend you to go on for the Black Badge 2dr coupe. This will set you back by an additional $50,000 but you will get a glossy black spirit tone, carbon fibre interiors, upgraded brakes and a lot more. Also the Black Badge 2 door coupe is equipped with a sports suspension that enhances the drive quality of this luxury on wheels.

2019 Rolls-Royce Wraith Review

Pros

  • Exquisitely detailed cabin with unequaled craftsmanship
  • Immaculate materials quality
  • Seemingly infinite degree of customization
  • Commanding, traffic-clearing road presence

Cons

  • Trunk is small relative to the Wraith's size
  • Advanced safety tech is not available

Belonging to the class of over luxury, this machine is a jewel if not royalty. It is obvious for the Rolls-Royce to be priced outrageously, at a starting price of $300,000 you are offered a royal suite on wheels

Overview

Pricing and Features
8.0/10

This luxury brand has offered the wraith in two trims both of which are ultra premium luxury coupes, the black badge is the ultra premium offering that comes in a full black tone. A turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 (624 horsepower, 605 lb-ft of torque) is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is offered as an RWD drivetrain. The Black Badge variant is equipped with the same engine, but it's tuned to deliver a tad bit more of torque, 642 lb-ft.

Engine and Performance
8.2/10

Powering this heavy vehicle is an impeccable piece of engineering, a whopping 6.6 liter engine, Twin-turbo V12. This massive machine has the ability to generate 624 horses of power and a torque generation of 605 pound feet. Setting you back by $330,000 that's the least you can expect actually. This RWD is configured with an eight speed automatic transmission. Facing the AMG tag is no easy feat, given below is the ratings and reading of the Bentley and the AMG in consideration.

It is actually surprising to find the Bentley continental GT on the tabletop with the generation of 626 HP despite its 6.0L engine twin turbo W12. In terms of torque generation the Mercedes AMG proves its mettle by generating 738 lb-ft of torque. A massive great by the Germans here, again a 6.0L twin turbo V12 delivers this power. For the engine capacity that the Rolls-Royce is equipped with it should be way ahead than its competition, unfortunately it is not, reasons unknown.

Acceleration

Equipped with one of the heaviest engines that you would get to see across the industry, these luxury automobiles tend to deliver speed performance as well. Being pretty close to sports car records these prestigious vehicles have some serious competence to put up.

The Rolls-Royce Wraith records a 4.4 second duration to reach the 60 miles per hour mark from a standstill. Having a top speed of only 155 miles per hour might pillage the Royce behind it's competition. Let us check the records to understand the same.

It comes as a surprise even to us that the Bentley Continental GT outruns the prowess of the famed AMG Mercedes-Benz line. Touching the 60 miles per hour mark just within four seconds is no simple task, the Continental GT proves its mettle not only in the 0 to 60 mph parameter but also in the quarter mile sprint, clocking 11.8 seconds. Having a top speed of 198 miles per hour, once again the Continental GT stands above the potential of its competitors.

Ride and Handling

If you consider the Rolls-Royce wraith Black Badge then you are in for a treat, the sports suspension delivers a magical drive experience as it transfers none of the road bumps inside the cabin. The steering of this luxury coupe is slightly stiff, but it is good that way. It reminds you of the weight you are driving around literally and otherwise. The braking system of the Rolls is pretty decent as well. In the department of acceleration the Royce puts up a good performance, even when you go to consider taking turns on speedways or on City roads, there is hardly any body-roll felt in the drive. It handles really well when on high-speed turns, but when you need to park it in tight spaces, there is a lot at stake.

Braking

The braking system of these luxury vehicles have to go through a strain of bringing such heavy weight to a standstill and at the same time offer at-most smoothness. The Rolls-Royce does a decent job in this aspect, though not the best in the segment. Up against the AMG, one could not expect any other manufacturers to perform better. The AMG is simply unparalleled in terms of performance and so is the scenario here.

Here we are just considering the brakes of the basic model, the 2dr coupe. However, if you go for the Black Badge 2 door coupe then you will get to feast on the upgraded brakes system that is inclined towards performance. Given below, we have the brake performances of the vehicles in consideration and their rotor sizes.

Fuel Economy
4.0/10

Fuel efficiency isn't what you should be looking at if you consider going in for a luxury purchase such as a Rolls-Royce Wraith. Usually, these royal machines fail to deliver in terms of fuel efficiency. The 6.0L V12 by AMG proves to deliver the best torque and also delivers the best fuel efficiency of them all. Overall, the range of the Rolls-Royce Wraith is the least in class. But as mentioned before, for the class that purchasers these vehicles, fuel efficiency isn't even a factor they consider.

Rolls-Royce Wraith vs. Bentley Continental GT

The bespoke interiors of the Bentley Continental GT are certainly worth a mention equipped with the finest leather tailored with world class craftsmanship and fitted with jewel like switchgears the interiors of the Bentley are simply unmatchable. Moreover, the Continental GT costs so much less than the Rolls-Royce while its luxury offering is at par with the Royce.

Rolls-Royce Wraith vs. Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Mercedes Benz is a performance focused vehicle, while the Rolls-Royce is a niche for the cream. Merc at around half its price certainly proves to be a more practical option, moreover its up-to-date tech features, responsive power and unprecedented handling will be your benefit. However, on the other hand the customisation options are way better in the Royce.

Final Verdict

We would recommend you to look in for the other options available in this segment. Firstly because there are better cars out there in terms of performance. However, the Rolls-Royce wraith is simply astounding in the aspect of luxurious interior offerings. Secondly, if you are concerned about the money you would be spending then certainly consider going in for the AMG S65 Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes is priced slightly higher than the Bentley continental GT but yet we recommended due to its unparalleled performance. However, if money isn't a matter of concern to you then nothing comes even close to the royalty offered by 2019 Rolls-Royce Wraith.
