In love with my Tahoe

Pros

Love the room, Enhanced fuel economy

Cons

Hot leather seats, Window tint

As a Chevrolet kinda girl I was just going to look at upgrading my 2006 Tahoe and fell in love with my new charcoal grey Tahoe. I know that SUVs aren't the best for fuel economy but let me be honest and say that the newer ones are way better than I thought it would be. I've practically doubled my miles to the gallon, and so you know I am heavy footed and even I can save gas with this one. If I co... Read more

The list of standard features of the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe remains unchanged, however, a new set of 22" gloss black aluminum wheels has been added to the Tahoe. The Tahoe goes head to head against some of the most formidable names in the industry like Ford Expedition, GMC Yukon & the Toyota Sequoia. Pricing and Features
7.5/10

Chevrolet has segregated the 2020 Tahoe into 3 different trim levels, namely. LS, LT, and Premier. The standard engine of choice is a 5.3L V8 that is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, there is also an option for a more powerful 6.2L V8 with the top-of-the-line Premier trim. The price of the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe begins at $49,000 for the LS & the LT costs $53,800. Buying Advice

We would recommend the LT trim of the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe as it offers sufficient creature comforts for a long drive. The Tahoe is spacious & offers decent practicality. The AWD configuration is a $3,000 option, which can be opted in case you have the utility for an all-wheel-drive. Rest assured, the RWD drivetrain still offers you a decent performance & the power feels adequate on the freeways & long distances.

Engine and Performance
6.5/10

The standard engine of choice for the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe is a 5.3L Ecotec3 V8 unit mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine churns out 355 “American ponies” @ 5600 rpm and has a maximum torque output of 383 ft/lb @ 4100 rpm. The optional 6.2L V8 is exclusively available with the Premier trim. This unit is coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission and capable of producing 420 hp @ 5600rpm and 450 lb/ft of torque @ 4100 rpm.

The 2020 Chevy Tahoe can sprint to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds and can also complete a quarter-mile drag race in 16.7 seconds. With the 6.2L V8, the 2020 Tahoe reaches 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and completes a drag race in 16.3 seconds. The available 6.2L V8 enables the Tahoe to tow up to 8,500 lbs. However, if you decide to go with the standard 5.3L V8, the towing capacity takes a hit and the figure goes down to 6,600 lbs.

Both the available engines are powerful and cruising on the expressway is bliss. The 5.3L V8 engine struggles to deliver the desired power at revs lower than 3,000rpm, but once you cross that mark, this engine feels totally different. The 6-speed automatic transmission shifts very swiftly and you will not have any complaints about it. The 6.2L engine has no issues with power delivery at any range and is as capable in the city as it is on the highway.

The fuel economy of Tahoe is one of the best in the segment. The standard 5.3L V8 with RWD will give you a combined efficiency of 19 MPG with figures of 16 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. If you opt for AWD, the efficiency takes a further hit and returns 22 MPG on the highway and 16 MPG in the city.

The more powerful 6.2L V8 with RWD configuration will get you 14 miles for the gallon of gas in the city and 23 miles for the same on the highway. Opting for AWD with this engine will only fetch you 14 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway.

Again, the GMC Yukon has identical fuel efficiency as the Tahoe. The 2020 Ford Expedition with its 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine proves to be the most economical choice in the segment. The Expedition is capable of doing 20 MPG in a combined drive.

Interior
7.5/10

The 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe interior offers wide and cushy seats that are ideal for long trips. Front seats are extremely comfortable and spacious, regardless of the cloth or leather upholstery. The second row is enjoyable whether you opt for the bench or captain's chair configuration. However, the third row feels constricted and best kept for children or teenagers. Although the 2020 GMC Yukon is based on the same platform as the Tahoe, it still feels more plush & luxurious on the inside. The default cargo space of the 2020 Tahoe, behind the third-row seats, is 15.3 cubic feet.

The infotainment system of the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe comprises an 8-inch touchscreen that comes integrated with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. When it comes to the standard tech, Tahoe outshines its competitors. In addition to the refined infotainment, the Tahoe comes standard with a premium six-speaker stereo, Satellite radio, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot that is capable of connecting seven devices in one go. The LT trim gets a 9 speaker Bose audio system while the Premier trim is equipped with a 10 speaker Bose audio system.

The steering wheel’s telescopic range of the 2020 Chevy Tahoe is not satisfactory but the power-adjustable pedals are an additional welcome. The higher seating position makes for a very commanding driving position with an excellent view of the road ahead. The power-folding second-row seats make the third row easily accessible. The cabin offers a seating capacity for over 9 people.

Exterior
6.5/10

The 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe remains mostly unchanged over its predecessor, in terms of its looks. However, for the 2020 model year, Chevrolet is offering the Tahoe with a set of new 22" Aluminum Alloy Wheels. The 2020 Tahoe maintains its boxy looks. The Chevy Tahoe & the GMC Yukon share similar dimensions as both are based on similar platforms as well.

The 2020 Chevy Tahoe gets a long list of standard features such as HID headlights in premiere and halogens in other LS and LT, Daytime Running Lights, Fog lamps in Premier, Power adjusting and heated side-view mirrors, Power-folding, auto-dimming, and side blind zone alert inside the mirror in Premiere, 18-inch wheels in LS and LT, 22" wheels in Premier trim.
