Of all the four trims on offer, we think that the 2020 Nissan Murano SV is the most value for money proposition of the lot due to the decent list of interior and safety features that are offered as standard. This trim comes with many features like adaptive cruise control, remote start with keyless entry, power-adjustable and heated front seats, and a blind spot monitoring system. It also gets a 6-speaker audio system and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well. In comparison to the likes of the 2020 Ford Edge and the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer, the 2020 Murano SV is packed with more driver-assistance and safety features as standard too.

The sole powertrain available with the 2020 Nissan Murano is the 3.5 liter naturally aspirated V6 motor rated at 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. This engine has enough grunt to keep the 2020 Murano going all day long. It offers a very decent mid-range and a low-end performance. The 2020 Nissan Murano can also tow a maximum of 1,500 lbs, which is not the best of the segment.

This naturally aspirated DOHC V6 motor is mated to an Xtronic CVT automatic transmission and the power is routed to all four wheels through an Intelligent AWD system. Along with that, the FWD drivetrain is also offered, which is close to $2,000 lesser than the one equipped with the AWD system. 

In terms of the acceleration on offer from this V6 motor which offered a 0-60 MPH time and the quarter-mile time of 8.2 seconds and 15.4 seconds, the 2020 Nissan Murano was beaten by the likes of the 2020 Ford Edge and the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer with a 0-60 MPH time of 7.6 seconds and 7.9 seconds, respectively. However, the 2020 Kia Sorento was the slowest of the lot with a 0-60 MPH and a quarter-mile time of 9.6 seconds and 17 seconds.

With a below-average acceleration performance showcased by the 2020 Nissan Murano, the moniker was a disappointment for the segment. Nevertheless, the braking performance on offer from this mid-size SUV was one of the best of the segment, coming to a complete halt from 60-0 MPH in just 120 feet. The handling and ride quality was also impressive due to the compliant suspension setup, offering decent driving pleasure without compromising on comfort.

The 2020 Nissan Murano with its 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 motor mated to the CVT automatic transmission offers a decent gas mileage of 20 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway, with a combined rating of 23 MPG. The CVT automatic transmission of the 2020 Murano offers multiple driving modes, which helps to extract an even better gas mileage.

Due to the inclusion of a large 19-gallon fuel tank capacity, the 2020 Nissan Murano offers a decent range of 380 miles in the city and 532 miles on the highway, with a combined range of 437 miles before needing a refill. If you dial the car to the ECO or Normal mode, we found out that the throttle response gets quite dull, which helps in churning out a slightly better range in comparison to what EPA has rated the car with.

In comparison to the 2020 Nissan Murano, the 2020 Ford Edge and the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer returned a slightly better-combined gas mileage of 25 MPG and 24 MPG. However, the real star of the show is the 2020 Kia Sorento with combined gas mileage of 25 MPG offering the best in class combined range of 470 miles for a tank full. However, do note that, all the rivals only come with a 4-cylinder motor, helping them extract better gas mileage.

The 2020 Nissan Murano comes with three interior combinations, namely Mocha semi-aniline leather, Cashmere semi-aniline leather, and Graphite semi-aniline leather. The 2020 Murano offers excellent interior quality with soft-touch leather, silver accents, and aluminum inserts throughout the cabin. This mid-size SUV also retains many of the interior features like leather upholstery, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, heated rear seats, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

Even when it comes to the cargo space on offer, the 2020 Ford Edge turned out to be the best of the lot with 39.2 cubic feet, followed by the 2020 Nissan Murano with 32.1 cubic feet. The 2020 Kia Sorento is the only three-row SUV of the lot and hence offered the lowest cargo space of 11.3 cubic feet.

At the heart of Nissan Murano's infotainment system lies an 8.0-inch NissanConnect touchscreen display that comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also gets USB connectivity along with a USB Type-C port. The audio duties are handled by a six-speaker audio system. However, the higher trims also get an optional 11-speaker Bose premium audio system that sounds excellent. The navigation and SiriusXM radio support is also on board. We found this infotainment system to be quite intuitive to use with a punchy display and minimal stutters.

It retains the striking LED headlights with neatly integrated LED DRLs and automatic high beam assist for the higher trims. The 2020 Murano also comes with 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in P235/55R20 all-season tires. Other exterior features like a lip spoiler, automatic tailgate opening, roof rails, LED brake lights, and front fog lights are on offer too.

Apart from these standard features, the 2020 Nissan Murano also comes with many exterior optional features like 20-inch Satin Black alloy wheels, pearl white tri-coat and sunset drift chromaflair paint job, satin chrome rear underbody trim, and tow hitch receiver kit as well. Both the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer and the 2020 Kia Sorento also offered a better ground clearance of 7.4" and 7.3", respectively.

The 2020 Ford Edge is undoubtedly one of the best products in its segment. Though it lacks the supple ride comfort of the 2020 Nissan Murano it more than makes up in the handling and performance front. The Edge has a much more refined powertrain than the Murano that loves being revved hard. Space, MPG figures, and cargo capacity are also much superior to that of the 2020 Murano. Unless you want a V6 motor and a slightly superior interior quality, we don't see any reason to go for the 2020 Murano in comparison to the 2020 Ford Edge.

2020 Nissan Murano vs 2020 Chevrolet Blazer

While, the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer might not be as distinctive as the Murano, but it sure looks more modern and futuristic in comparison. The 2020 Blazer offers energetic handling for which it does sacrifice some of its ride quality. The interior of the 2020 Blazer feels nice and well put together, and ranks a bit higher than the Murano. However, the Murano is slightly better than the Blazer in terms of cabin and cargo space. The 2020 Murano offers more advanced driver-assistance features as standard too.

2020 Nissan Murano vs 2020 Kia Sorento

Unlike the 2020 Murano’s balanced character, the 2020 Kia Sorento is more of a family tourer. It gets three-row seating, is adequately spacious on the inside, and feels more opulent as well. The Sorento offers an even better ride quality and is as good as the 2020 Murano around corners. However, the 2020 Murano offers better interior fit and finish along with more spacious interiors. The 2020 Murano is also more powerful due to the presence of the V6 motor in comparison to the inline-4 motor present in the 2020 Sorento.

The 2020 Nissan Murano has a lot of things going for it. This mid-size SUV offers an impressive interior, which is not only spacious but also quite opulent too. The V6 motor returned respectable gas mileage in comparison to some of the rivals. Along with that, the 2020 Murano also comes out with an excellent list of standard safety and driver-assistance features too. Even though the moniker suffers from mediocre 0-60 MPH and the quarter-mile figures, the 2020 Murano is quite a compelling package for a family.
