With the 2021 Audi S5, the fuel economy sees a drop over last year's MPG figures. The ride offers 20 MPG in the city, 28 MPG on the highway, and 23 MPG combined, all of which come supported by a 15.3-gallon fuel tank. While this may not be exemplary in any regard, it is enough to get the job done as you get an overall range of 352 miles after a full refuel stop. Unfortunately, compared to the previous year, the drop in the MPG figures actually cause it to drop to the bottom part of the crop in its segment.

Compared to the rest, the E-Class takes the cake and comes out on top with its superb MPG figures. The BMW M440i, retains its cues to being fuel-efficient like other Bimmers and hence occupies the second spot, but only by a marginal gap. The Audi S5 saves its hide by grabbing the last spot on the podium whilst dabbling with the Lexus RC 350 F-Sport. Unfortunately for the RC 350, the 3.5L V6 under its hood is not fuel-efficient either and hence it is out in the rough.

When it comes to dressing its cars to impress, the 2021 Audi S5 is one of the stark reminders of what Audi can achieve with its impeccable eye for detail in feature-rich and technologically advanced interiors. You get 12-way power adjustable S Sport seats with heating capability as standard for the front which gets leather or Alcantara upholstery as per your preference. The leather-wrapped steering wheel also gets a lot of auxiliary and primary controls for various functions of the car and gets a 7-inch digital driver display in the base trim. With the upper trims, this gets upgraded to the 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit digital display.

The Premium trim offers stainless steel inlays in the door sills while the Premium Plus and Prestige trim add leather upholstery to the center console and various panels in the front. Furthermore, the standard Audi MMI 10.1-inch infotainment screen in the center and looks simply elegant by merging with the darkened vibe that the interior has going for itself. In the center console, you get the drive mode selector, shifter lever, and cubby storage to put your phone on charge. 

The 2021 Audi S5 offers the least amount of space in the front but manages to offer a decent space in the rear part of the cabin. The Lexus RC 350 F Sport is on the extreme ends as it offers the most space in the front and the least space in the back. The Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe and the BMW M440i are almost equally spaced. The numbers don't tell the full story though since the rear seats of the 2021 Audi S5 are not very comfortable for anyone more than average height. The highlights of the interiors are:

Supported by a 10-speaker sound system, it does a decent job at its task and keeps the ride quite chippy and enthusiastic when you have your favorite tunes going on. It comes with Bluetooth, WiFi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto integration, so you are covered in the connectivity aspect as well.

The interface is super smooth and intuitive and is not as confusing as you see on the 2021 Audi A8's dual-screen setup. With the MMI system, the functionalities keep getting added as you move through trim levels as the Premium trim offers basic features, and the Premium Plus trim offers the Audi Virtual Cockpit. To make some more room, you can fold down the rear seat that will open up more space to carry stuff along.

Besides the standard cargo space, there are also some secondary spaces like the glove box, door pockets, cupholders, and cubby storage in the center console all of which come in handy for carrying along with supplies for daily travel. The rear seats can feel cramped for occupants and hence can double back as more storage. 

Among the rivals, the BMW M440i takes the cake here yet again on account of offering the best cargo space and hence being the most practical option. The Audi S5 comes in next with significantly lesser space but more than its competitors. The Lexus RC 350 F Sport finally finds a spot on the podium even if it's the last one there while the Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe leaves practicality out to dry with the least amount of cargo space.

If you look at the 2021 Audi S5, the biggest and most welcome change is the adoption of the honeycomb grille design from the single-frame design that used to be the standard fitment. The headlight also looks more aggressive to keep in line with the mean streak that the car is made to portray. Though it doesn't get the next-gen Digital Matrix LED headlamps like the e-Tron range, the current ones do look remarkable.

As you move to the side, the 18-inch wheels have been redesigned completely and they come with a dark-graphite finish along with summer performance tires. If you observe the wheel design closely, you might find the likeness to Lamborghini's wheel design uncanny, however, Audi has managed to throw in its own flair to it. Furthermore, instead of body-colored side mirrors, the ride also brings in dark-grey-colored side mirrors to keep in line with the distinctive "S" design.

Compared to the others, the Audi S5 Coupe is the most compactly built and yet offers ample space in the cabin. The E-Class Coupe is the heaviest of the lot and yet manages to hold its own very admirably. The RC 350 F-Sport and the M440i are fairly close by in terms of dimensions and hence do not pose much of a threat here. The lightweight of the 2021 Audi S5 Coupe helps it in its power-to-weight ratio.

As you move to the back of the 2021 Audi S5, the diffuser gets more pronounced and is supported by the quad-exhaust tips, that combine to form a picturesque yet dominating road presence. 2021 Audi S5 Coupe vs. 2021 Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe

From the trendsetter of luxury, the 2021 Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe arrives with its rejuvenated vibe and classic overperformance characteristics to give a worthy challenge to the 2021 Audi S5. While the price tag of the Merc is higher, it seems justified when you look at the luxuriously laid interiors, packed with the best MPG figures in the lineup, which are much better than the Audi. Furthermore, it also offers a choice between RWD and AWD which the others don't, and hence explores the true side of coupes that were meant to drive out that rear end on long curving roads. Though you get the MBUX as standard, the Audi Virtual Cockpit easily makes up for that and makes the ride more enthralling at a lower price tag, which is why the 2021 Audi S5 is our pick between the two.
