The 2021 Audi SQ7 is available in the market with two trim options: Premium Plus and Prestige. Prices range between $85,000 to $91,200 for the Prestige trim. Changes for the 2021 SQ7 include a standard heated steering wheel and a leather trim for the Premium Plus model when opted for the Executive package. Premium leather seats are standard in both trims. 

A 10.1-inch upper screen and an 8.6-inch lower screen make up Audi's MMI infotainment system while both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. It is assisted by a banging16-speaker Bang & Olufsen surround sound system. Safety tech such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition are standard whereas the SUV sits on 21-inch polished alloy wheels.

We will recommend the Premium Plus trim that is priced at $85,000. The Premium Plus trim comes with a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D surround system, leather S sport seats with contrast diamond stitching, S-tuned adaptive air suspension, etc. Also, the optional Executive package now adds a leather-trimmed interior to the Premium Plus trim.

Despite its performance potential, the SQ7 still effortlessly doubles as a family SUV, delivering a faultless ride- CarAndDriver

The 2021 Audi SQ7 is powered by a 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 engine that produces 500 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic is the sole choice of transmission while Audi's Quattro AWD system is standard on both models. The engine also features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. 

The all-wheel steering displays incredible response, especially at lower speeds. It has a shorter turning radius that improves maneuverability. The SQ7 handles the best around the corners even at high speeds. The adaptive air suspension maintains a composed and comfortable ride thereby offering a refined ride quality.  

The 2021 SQ7 can sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds while the quarter-mile test is completed in 12.9 seconds. Compared to its rivals, the SQ7 performs well in both performance tests. When it comes to braking, the SQ7 is equipped with strong 4-wheel disc brakes that can stop the vehicle immediately when required. 

Clearly, the powerful 523-hp BMW X5 M50i takes the shortest time to cover both performance tests. Next in line is the Audi SQ7 with 4.5 seconds on the clock. The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 comes last in both tests but is the cheapest ride here. Also, it uses a 9-speed automatic instead of an 8-speed automatic.

The SQ7 is predictably heavy at the pumps- Carbuzz

In order to deliver excellent on-road performance, the 2021 Audi SQ7 consumes more fuel than its rivals. According to the EPA, the 2021 SQ7 returns 15 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway. With a combined mileage of 17 MPG, the SQ7 gives less efficiency compared to its rivals. 

However, the 2021 SQ7 offers a large fuel tank capacity of 22.5 gallons, which is bigger than what the BMW X5 M50i offers. Due to this, a combined range of 472 miles is delivered when the tank is filled with gas. The city and highway range is the best in its class. 

Thanks to its large fuel tank, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 offers 2 MPG combined more than the X5 M50i. The BMW X5 M50i grabs the next spot on the table with 18 MPG combined. On the other hand, the Audi SQ7 burns more fuel and is less fuel-efficient.

The 2021 Audi SQ7 is a 7-seater SUV and these seats get premium leather treatment. The front seats are sports seats with the S logo embedded on them. These seats are comfortable and supportive with aggressive bolsters. The steering wheel also gets leather treatment while multiple audio and cruise controls are found on it.  Also, the front seats are 12-way power-adjustable.

The second-row seats can accommodate three passengers comfortably as there is enough head and legroom available. The third row is strictly for adults as only 29.2 inches of legroom is on offer. Cargo space of 14.2 cu-ft. is available but it can be expanded to a maximum of 69.6 cu-ft. A standard power sunroof makes the cabin feel more spacious and airy. 

The SQ7 is the only 7-seater SUV here while the other two rivals seat up to 5 people only. The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 offers class-leading headroom in both rows while the BMW X5 M50i offers 19.7 cu-ft. more than the SQ7. The SQ7 comes with a 10.1-inch mid-center screen for infotainment functions and an 8.6-inch screen below it for other tech-related functions. 

A 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D surround sound system offers the best sound quality one can imagine. Features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, SiriusXM, etc are standard on the SQ7. The MMI infotainment system is more responsive and easy to use. It is more useful to control the car's integrated functions. Some other features include:

The 2021 Audi SQ7 receives the more aggressive front grille, and the Matrix LED front and rear taillights. This gives the car a more aggressive and sporty look. The standard ground clearance of the 2021 SQ7 is 8.1 inches. But, it can be raised to 9.6 inches with the help of air suspension for better ground clearance while off-roading.  

The 2021 SQ7 is fitted with 21-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, quad exhaust tips make up the lower fascia. The $705 Black Optic package adds black roof rails, black window surrounds, black grille, and mirror caps that lightens the exterior look of the 2021 SQ7. The overall length of the car measures 199.6 inches, which is longer than its rivals. 

Since the SQ7 is a seven-seater car, it is longer in length compared to the other rivals. Also, it is the heaviest SUV here. The Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 shares the same wheelbase as the SQ7 which is 117.9 inches. The BMW X5 M50i sits 0.2 inches high from the SQ7.

The 2021 Audi SQ7 comes loaded with standard safety features but hasn’t been tested by the NHTSA- The Car Connection

The 2021 Audi SQ7 has not been crash-tested for its safety by NHTSA and IIHS. Hence, the safety ratings are not available. However, the German automaker has put all the effort into producing a safe car in all ways.

2021 Audi SQ7 vs 2021 BMW X5 M50i

Priced at $82,100, the BMW X5 M50i packs a powerful 523-hp V8 engine that does 0-60 in just 3.9 seconds. In terms of fuel economy, the X5 M50i offers slightly better MPG figures than the SQ7. The SQ7 is a 7-seater SUV and offers more technological features than the X5 M50i. Practicality-wise, the X5 M50i leads the field with 72.3 cu-ft. of maximum storage. 

2021 Audi SQ7 vs 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53

The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 is the cheapest offering in this competition that costs $12,650 less than the Audi SQ7. But, it produces 71 hp less than the SQ7 and therefore loses to it in both performance tests. The AMG GLE 53 is the most fuel-efficient vehicle for its size. Also, it is a 5-seater SUV but offers class-leading passenger space and cargo capacity of 74.9 cu-ft.

Compared to the other German marques, the 2021 Audi SQ7 is a bit cheap with the performance 7-seater option, where the others are 5-seaters. At some amount of power delivery and luxury, the  SQ7 beats its fellow rivals too. Also, Audi offers a reasonable price and has great reliability and resale value.
