Priced at an MSRP of $143,200, the 2021 BMW Alpina B7 comes well equipped with good performance and a lot of comfort features. However, we recommend to get the Rear Executive Lounge Seating Package and also the Luxury Rear seating package for the interior along with Alpine Green or Blue paint and the optional Sky Lounge Panoramic LED roof.

You'd expect a lot from 600 horsepower, but this sedan still manages to overdeliver - Edmunds

The 2021 BMW Alpina B7 is powered by a 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 making 600 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, an increase in torque by 37 lb-ft more than the 2020 model. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic which directs all the power to the xDrive (AWD) system. 

In terms of performance, 600 hp translates into the 2021 Alpina B7 does the 0-60 sprint in 3.5 seconds, faster than the Audi S8 and Mercedes-Maybach S560, but slower than the Porsche Panamera Turbo S Executive. The 2021 B7 sets a quarter-mile time of 11.4 seconds and comes with an electronically limited top speed of 193 mph (205 mph for other Alpine B7 markets).

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S Executive makes the most amount of power with 620 hp, followed by the BMW Alpina B7 making 600 hp, and then comes the Audi S8 making 563 hp and the Mercedes-Maybach S560 making 463 hp. However, the BMW Alpina B7 makes the most amount of torque of 627 lb-ft.

The 2021 Alpina B7 offers EPA estimated fuel economy figures of 17 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and a combined of 19 mpg, 1 mpg less than the 2020 model year on the highway and combined. The B7 Alpina gives combined 19 mpg, same as the Maybach S560, more than the Audi S8 and Panamera Turbo S Executive. 

The 2021 BMW Alpina B7 is equipped with a fuel 20.6-gallon fuel tank which is smaller than the Maybach S560 (21.1 gallons), Audi S8 (21.7 gallons), and the Panamera Turbo S Executive (23.7 gallons). This affects the driving range as the Maybach S560 and the Panamera Turbo S Executive offer a marginally more driving range.

The 2021 BMW Alpina B7's interior comes with a seating capacity of 5 occupants and can be reduced to 4 with the rear executive lounge seating package ($5,750) which adds a rear center console. The front row seats are heated, ventilated, and massage 14-way power multi-contour seats with memory positions. Four-zone climate control is standard.

The interior upholstery is perforated Nappa leather available with color options and quilting ($500) and optional Merino leather ($4,000). Options include - heating, ventilation, and massage functions for the rear seats are part of luxury rear seat package, Alcantara headliner, LED lights in the panoramic roof, Alcantara color headliner. The 2021 Alpina B7 has a cargo capacity of 18.2 cu.ft. which is more than the competition.

The 2021 BMW Alpina B7 comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment system that runs on the iDrive 7.0 interface and can be controlled by touch, voice commands, or by the iDrive touchpad controller. The system features navigation with OTA upgrades included, Bluetooth connectivity, and USB ports.

Other features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wi-Fi hotspot (3-month trial), SiriusXM satellite radio (1-year all-access subscription), and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon Surround sound system. Options for the infotainment include rear-seat entertainment ($2,700) and Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround sound system ($,3,400).

The 2021 BMW Alpina B7 is based on the BMW 7-series so it has the same look and structure but comes with many Alpina-specific design features. The car still features a large kidney grille with slim LED lights with DRLs and large air intakes with an Alpina branded front splitter to complete the front fascia. 

The rear fascia comes with an Alpina-designed rear diffuser and a lip spoiler with quad exhaust tips and Alpina and model badging. The 2021 Alpina B7 comes with 20-inch multi-spoke wheels with performance tires can opt for all-season tires or 21-inch with performance tires. Other exterior options include paint choices and optional Shadowline trim.

In terms of exterior dimensions, the BMW Alpine B7 measures 207.4-inches in length which is 2.7-inches longer than the Panamera Turbo S Executive, but 1.6 inches shorter in length than the Audi S6 and 7.6-inches shorter than the Maybach S560. The Panamera Turbo S Executive is also 3.3-inches wider than BMW Alpina B7.

The 2021 BMW Alpina B7 has not yet been crash-tested by the NHTSA. Like the NHTSA, the IIHS has also not yet crash-tested the 2021 Alpina B7 as well. Both the NHTSA and IIHS have not crash-tested the 2020 Alpina B7 as well.

Being an Alpina model, the B7 comes with many safety and driver-assist features including BMW's active protection system, pre & post-collision safety system, ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution, Blind spot monitoring, lane departure warnings, extended traffic jam assist, and many more.

2021 BMW Alpina B7 vs 2021 Mercedes-Benz Maybach S560

The Mercedes-Maybach S560 comes with less power and less performance and even comes with less space on the interior and trunk space. However, it does offers a higher level of luxury than the Alpina B7, but that also demands a $30,000 price, which makes the Alpina B7 the better option.

2021 BMW Alpina B7 vs 2021 Audi S8 

The Audi S8 does offer less power, performance, mpg figures, driving range, and marginally interior space and trunk space. The good part of the S8 is that it is priced $10,000 lesser than the Alpina B7, justifying its performance, and making it a good option.

2021 BMW Alpina B7 vs 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S Executive

The 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S Executive comes with more power and better performance but offers less mpg and trunk space than the Alpina B7. However, the Porsche is $45,000 more than the 2021 Alpina B7 which makes the Alpina B7 a much better option.
