About 2021 Nissan NV2500

3.8

Overall Rating

The Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van takes on RAM ProMaster, Ford Transit, and GMC Savana, the competition over here is pretty hard and the NV 2500 Cargo Van takes the advantage due to its low cost. The reason behind the low cost of NV 2500 Cargo Van is the subtraction of some features which normally other vehicles in this segment have.

Nissan has carried forward the 2020 version of NV 2500 Cargo Van for the 2021 version, with minimal changes the 2021 Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van will be soon hitting the markets. This budget-friendly car is the choice of many people out there as it demands way too less money when compared to its rivals. This Cargo Van has lots of space on offer which is a boon for the people using this van for business purposes.

The Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van is offered in three trims regardless of the roof options as they are personal according to the needs. Out of the three trims we recommend you to go for the SV V6 trim as it has some extra essential features over the S V6 trim like the parking assist and rear-view camera as it makes parking easy for such a big vehicle and prevents collisions while parking. We did not recommend the SV V8 variant as the power produced by the V6 engine is enough and the V6 engine is fuel-efficient than the V8 so opting for the SV V6 trim is a better choice.

2021 Nissan NV2500 Review

Pros

  • Strong V6 powertrain
  • Handles well for its size
  • Comfortable seats
  • Choice of two body types to suit specific needs

Cons

  • Interior feels cheap
  • Limited standard features and dated tech
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Only one body length available

The Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van takes on RAM ProMaster, Ford Transit, and GMC Savana, the competition over here is pretty hard and the NV 2500 Cargo Van takes the advantage due to its low cost. The reason behind the low cost of NV 2500 Cargo Van is the subtraction of some features which normally other vehicles in this segment have.

Overview

Nissan has carried forward the 2020 version of NV 2500 Cargo Van for the 2021 version, with minimal changes the 2021 Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van will be soon hitting the markets. This budget-friendly car is the choice of many people out there as it demands way too less money when compared to its rivals. This Cargo Van has lots of space on offer which is a boon for the people using this van for business purposes.

Pricing and Features
9.0/10

The 2021 Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van will have basically three main trims namely S V6, SV V6, and SV V8. All the versions will be offered in two roof options i.e. standard roof and high roof which can be chosen by the customer according to his/her needs.

The S V6 trim is stuffed with most of the features and costs around $31.5K which is a fair amount for what you get, but with this, you miss out on some standard safety features like parking assist and rear-view camera which are important nowadays.

The SV V6 trim has all the stuff which S V6 trim carries and all carry the features like parking assist and rear-view camera which the base version doesn’t. Additionally, you get 17” silver styled alloy wheels with this version which indirectly enhances the looks of the vehicle. This trim costs around $32.5 grands i.e. 1000 bucks more than the base and provides you with the extra features mentioned above.

The SV V8 trim is just different on the engine and transmission prospect from the SV V6 trim and the rest of the stuff is the same. This trim houses a 5.6L V8 engine and 7-speed automatic w/OD transmission instead of a 4.0L V6 engine and 5-speed automatic w/OD transmission. Apart from this, the features of SV V6 and SV V8 trims are identical

Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

Talking about the reliability and ownership cost quotient regarding Nissan vans in general then I would say that Nissan is having tough times proving its reliability and cutting the ownership cost. Nissan vans are highly unreliable and most of the reports say so.

Reliability and Ownership Costs

First talking about reliability, according to consumer reports 2020 Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van was ranked 21stout of 21 with a poor score of 2.0 out of 5.0. This report clearly depicts that this van is highly unreliable and hard to sustain for a long time. J.D. Power has not rated this van so the J.D. Power Report for this car is unavailable but it is quite easy to predict the score of NV 2500 Cargo Van that it would score below 70 out of 100 according to its result in consumer reports.

Now talking about the ownership cost, well buying Nissan vans is cheap but the money saved during buying the new vehicle is spent on repairs and maintenance. The average annual maintenance cost of NV 2500 Cargo Van is $965 which is way more expensive than its competitors. Summing up, the ownership cost of Nissan vans, especially the NV 2500 Cargo Van is high.

Warranty

Well, the Nissan is behind the rivals in terms of reliability and ownership cost but it is way ahead when it comes to car assurance. Nissan offers 5 years or 100,000 miles warranty on NV 2500 Cargo Van making it the best warranty offering van manufacturer. Apart from the basic warranty offered it also offers a rust perforation warranty for 5 years with no miles condition, federal emission warranty of 5 years or 50,000 miles.

Criteria

Period

Basic limited warranty

5 years or 100,000 miles

(whichever occurs first)

Powertrain warranty

5 years or 100,000 miles

(whichever occurs first)

Rust Perforation warranty

5 years and no restriction on miles traversed

Federal Emission defects

5 years or 50,000 miles

(whichever occurs first)

Federal Emission Performance

(whichever occurs first)

Seat Belts

10 years and no restriction on miles traversed

According to consumer reviews and their experience the warranty claim is an easy and hassle-free process, customer satisfaction has been a top priority of Nissan and is working in the same direction.

The Vans are serviced properly at the service stations by professionals, the sourcing of parts and reach of service centers is good so there is no waiting for parts and for other formalities. Overall the process of warranty claims and repairs is smooth and easy, and this is why people prefer Nissan.

Buying Advice

The Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van is offered in three trims regardless of the roof options as they are personal according to the needs. Out of the three trims we recommend you to go for the SV V6 trim as it has some extra essential features over the S V6 trim like the parking assist and rear-view camera as it makes parking easy for such a big vehicle and prevents collisions while parking. We did not recommend the SV V8 variant as the power produced by the V6 engine is enough and the V6 engine is fuel-efficient than the V8 so opting for the SV V6 trim is a better choice.

Is buying a used Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van a good idea?

NO!! buying a used Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van may turn out to be a nightmare for some as the reliability of this car is just next to zero so the van may demand high repair costs which will be similar to buying a new one. Moreover, Nissan vans don’t have good fuel economy so the used one may have more running costs than the new one. So, going for a used NV 2500 Cargo Van isn’t a good idea.

Engine and Performance
9.0/10

The competition between these vans is very tight but taking the NV 2500 Cargo Van into the note it provides a good amount of torque than the RAM and Ford counterparts but NV 2500 Cargo Van fails to deliver power as it is the least among the four vans in comparison.

The transmission of NV does not suit the van as 5 speeds are not enough while having such a huge body and such high demand for power and torque. So performance-wise the NV 2500 Cargo Van has got clearly beaten by the rivals.

2021 Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van Acceleration and Braking Performance

Fuel Economy
8.0/10

Nissan vans have always been on the thirstier side as their engines are not as efficient as the other automakers have. The NV 2500 Cargo Van is also an inefficient van in terms of mileage, it delivers only 11 MPG in cities while 14 MPG on highways which brings the combined mileage to 12 MPG.

The Rivals of Nissan like Ford and GMC have good mileage figures and in which Ford's counterpart has set new levels by offering 14 MPG in cities and 18 MPG on highways. Nissan has to work out on their engines to make them at least stand against the rivals.

Commercial vehicles are used for transport purposes where mileage and range do matter and a vehicle has to be good on both aspects Nissan NV has a large fuel tank of 28 Gallons but has a low mileage which lessens the range of the vehicle and this makes it unsuitable for the purpose. We hope that future vehicles from Nissan are efficient enough to sustain the demands of the market.

Interior
6.0/10

All the vans in this Segment offer a seating capacity of 2 people but the seating offered by Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van is just amazing. It offers two front seats with at most comfort and space. The headroom and legroom offered by NV 2500 Cargo Van are unrivaled and one of a kind.

The cabin is made up of high strength plastic it may not look luxurious but is cost-justified as it offers correctly according to its price. The buttons to control the cabin are also set at the right place making the ergonomics of the cabin good and make the rider enjoy its comfort. At the rear, there is a big space to put all your stuff. The cabin has a decent look overall and is justified according to the price it comes at.

Besides a roomy well-laid-out cabin and comfortable seats, the Nissan NV Cargo brings along with its comfort features like:

Standard on the Nissan NV Cargo is a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with bare-minimum features. It is easy to operate and returns sufficient response but is not very well equipped.

It is just a screen with play/pause function and a smartphone connection system and nothing else. This is a major drawback of Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van and should ponder upon to make it at least comparable to the rivals.

The list of features includes:

  • Bluetooth
  • Hands-free text-messaging
  • AM/FM

Exterior
7.0/10

Nissan NV 2500 Cargo Van is a van that has a boxy design that is in no way appealing and the design has no distant relation with aerodynamics and stuff, it is just a big moving box with a nose at the front. Even the grille upfront is stocky to complement the rest of the design, the grille could have been better to make it look a bit different.

The sides of the car are plain, basic as possible with a big, wide door to give maximum accessibility. The rear also follows the same rule with tail lights for loading and unloading cargo. The van doesn’t have any chrome garnish on the sides or even on the taillights which could have spiced things up and would not look totally plain and pale.
