Overall Rating
The new and improved fifth-generation Supra, however, is not exactly Japanese from its roots. It shares its platform, powertrain, and lots of bits and bobs with the BMW Z4 M40i and is manufactured on the same production line in Austria as the Z4. For the 2021 model, Toyota has bumped the power from 335 HP to 382 HP and a new 4-cylinder engine to increase the market appeal.
The 2021 Toyota Supra is available in four trim levels - 2.0, 3.0, 3.0 Premium, and A91 Edition, with prices starting at an MSRP of $43,090. The 2021 Supra sees the addition of 2.0 trim and the A91 Edition trim. Powering the 2.0 trim is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 making 255 hp and the 3.0 and higher trims are powered by a 3.0L turbochagred inline-6 which now makes 382 hp, 47 hp more than the 2020 model.
The interior has new features for the two new trims with Alcantara/leather interior with the A91 Edition getting a contrast stitching for the interior. That said, the Toyota Supra comes into direct competition with the Audi TT and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (C300) Coupe.Â
Â
Well, the 2.0 and 3.0 trim are similar on the inside, it all boils down to the performance on offer. If you are a driving enthusiast and thrive for power then the 3.0 version is a perfect fit, although the 255 horsepower is also fast and fun to drive. Aerodynamically both versions are the same and are similar from outside. The asking price of the 3.0-liter version is $8,000 more than the 2.0-liter. We recommend to go for the 3.0-liter as it offers a lot more performance and the straight-six motor is quite tuner-friendly.
